"“He did not know how to process what was going on when he saw what was happening in the room. He did not know if this was consensual group sex or if it was a sexual assault.

The agent, who requested anonymity to protect the identity of his client, said the player left the room after about 10 minutes.

Not sure if I just forgot this pizza story or what. But I'm having a hard time understanding that last part. You weren't sure if you were watching a sexual assault but you sat around and ate pizza for 10 minutes?

I agree.

I also think video recording consent is a massive red flag. Why would you do that? I've never felt obligated to get video consent from anyone I've ever slept with, but I'm also not a rapist. You get video consent because you think you'll need it.... which begs the question why would you need to prove it....
I don't necessarily agree with this. False accusations are a thing, especially if you are famous and even more so when the situation is so 'out of hand' as in this case.
In general, I don't think recording consent is per se a sign of bad intentions. Of course, one ought to differ from case to case, and things do look worse in this specific one.

These kids made a poorly thought out decision then tried to back log that decision with a fabricated video.

As situations unfold things aren’t always black and white. Don’t really know what that player witnessed or at what point they came into the room. All that is known is that a player was invited to the room as others were and when he saw what was happening. Hell, don’t even know if he had pizza or not.

We don’t really know when pizza guy got there, what was said, and what transpired. It’s probably best to hold on the torches and pitchforks. I’d rather him testify and continue playing than not testify and get kicked out of the league. We don’t know what he saw. He is infinitely better than the 5 arrested for sure though

This is exactly someone you sacrifice to change future decisions.

Yeah, I said it. He will be outted. He will be ostracized. Again, it won't take much to get them to turn on each other. Someone used influence to drop the investigation...oh yeah...that's coming to light as well. Hockey is almost a religion in Canada. Time to break the spell. No one will be able to hide.
That guy might be a key witness in this case, IIRC his agent also said that he would cooperate if need be (unless I'm mistaken). It could very well be why he has not been charged.

What's interesting though, is that his agent says that he "didn't know if what he was witnessing was consensual, or sexual assault". That sounds like BS to absolve a guilty conscience and not incriminate himself. What that statement really says is that "I thought it was probably sexual assault but I didn't know how to react in the moment". If it was consensual, you wouldn't have doubts.

However if his name becomes public, and it's been heavily rumored to be one guy who's name keeps coming back, he might have some issues depending on what exactly comes out in the trial.

I don't see how he will be able to continue to play for any NHL team.

At best, he's turning states evidence and saving his own skin after the fact. At worst, he was complicit and is trying to save his own skin after the fact. I don't see any way a team can keep him on the roster. Dude is burnt toast either way.

What am I looking at here?
The guy she is talking about (she's like 15 by the way) is so universally HATED by all Devils fans it's insane. He appeared in court for a domestic dispute in Florida for hitting his ex, scams people out of money on the regular by lying about being a brand ambassador for Fanatics, I've heard stories of him following underaged girls during and after games, one girl told me a story that he stalked her and followed her back to her hotel in NYC she had to ask the front desk and door man to please not let him in. He usually wears a Devils jersey that says TRUMP on the back. I don't care about anyone's politics... that's just some attention seeking BS... and then the next game after McLeod takes a leave of absence he shows up in a McLeod jersey.

That guys is a piece of trash and we all want him in jail and or/banned from all NHL buildings.

Nah, they were trying to save their asses here. You know how we know this? Player 1 didn't record E.M. giving him consent BEFORE, when it was just the two of them, he only recorded her later in the night after the non-consensual group rape acts happened. He f***ed up and realized later "OH SHIT" and took out his phone and told her "SAY IT" that it was consensual.

Also regarding pizza guy: it generally seems agreed that there is a culture problem to some degree in junior hockey and a good ole boys circle; depending on what he saw, he could have been alienated and hurt his career. There is probably a parallel universe where he told someone what he saw, the incident is hushed up, he is ostracized and loses opportunities. Everyone acts the hero in imaginary theoretical situations but it’s much harder to be the hero in the moment. He was never going to go Punisher on these players, maybe he did say something to them, maybe he did tell someone. We don’t know anything outside of he was texted, came up for 10 minutes, got sketched out to some extent and left. Unfortunately peer pressure and fitting in and not being a “rat” or “snitch” are problems that almost every teenager faces. I’m sure he’s kicking himself to some degree, but how many of us wish we could return to a situation in the past and act differently now that we see everything in 20/20 hindsight? Let’s just hold on tar and feathering the guy. He could be a huge piece to getting a conviction. A conviction could be the start of problematic behavior in junior hockey disappearing. I’d rather have positive changes made than punishing someone for inaction

I truly don't understand how he has not been banned from The Rock, it's private property. Not only that, he goes to many away games. Good thing he's pretty famous by now and most people should know to keep away.

I see. I thought the girl was the first poster’s daughter given he seemed really heated at the guy and knows the girl’s social media to post. Lol. Then again, I don’t see any major red flags unless im missing something. I suppose it could be inappropriate talking to a minor depending on circumstances. This guy seems to pretty infamous though in devils fandom given that multiple posters know him

Why would he be done? If you walked into the middle of a gang bang, would you think something untoward was going on? I know I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t stay, I’d just grab a couple of slices of pizza and leave. The thought that what is going on isn’t consensual wouldn’t cross my mind.

Lol, it's not just that one instance and wearing the McLeod jersey, like, come on. I won't deny, it definitely rubs me the wrong way. Sadly we have to keep an eye on him, and share her tweet so more people are aware of his antics. The team doesn't seem to care much.

Naw. The only way to change this behavior is to root it all out and punish everyone. If you got a text and didn't say anything? Indefinite suspension. FEAR will change future players behavior. Yeah, some will be sacrificed for the greater good. That is how you change culture. Sorry but not sorry. It will be easy to connect the dots. Any player that had previous knowledge and didn't speak up...see ya. Then you move onto the GMs that KNEW and did nothing. It'll be a bloodbath but that is how you usher in change. Otherwise, you'll have the same crap happen again and again.
Like someone else pointed out do you think the guys said " guess what 8 of us raped some girl" I'm guessing it was something like this girl was totally down for this gang bang and I even have video proof she was and at that point are the others on the team supposed to do? launch there own investigation?

I fully agree the hockey culture needs to change thou even thou I love the wjc TC should be suspended

From what the agent said, he was fully cooperative in the original investigation.

Is merely witnessing a sexual assault a crime in Canada? Many things are morally onerous, but not a technical crime.

Radio out here in Van suggesting a couple of these guys might be entertaining plea bargains and turning on the other guys. Sounds like a a group of these guys is going to really get serious time if that’s the case.
