One thing that bugs me are the out of season establishing shots around the city. There’s a skyline shot of Toronto in the summer in episode 2. Like where’s the winter vibes? C’mon.

Unless I missed it they never mentioned Brodie once. Never talked to him, made no mention that he was a pretty big free agent signing in the off-season. Just a few shots in the dressing room.

Just finished that was a gutting end.

Crazy to see a whole season and cup aspirations come down to so many big mistakes and moments we couldn't seize.

It was tough to watch Keefe give such an inspiring speech and to come out blazing in that overtime in game 6 and fall short.

Really impressed with the coaching staff especially Keefe, I am glad he is extended.

I thought Joe Thornton was kinda a good in the dressing room and made some dumb comments. John Tavares was really missed in that dressing room (which I thought I would never say). His leadership stood out to me in the series.

All in all it is a great show and I really like this group of guys and the coaching staff. Hopefully we use this as motivation and I am happy we got to see an inside look to feel some of the pain they went through.

It's obvious our top players care. The narrative that they don't needs to stop now.

I hope they can move on from these losses and get over this playoff hump.

Let's see how the season goes and ultimately what progress they can make in the playoffs.

Regardless of how long it has been and how many times we keep saying it, these are our players, I'm going to stand by them.

They care.

Montreal also cared.

Montreal worked harder and won their individual battles.

Keefe in practice "OK, hold up!"....... "I don't have a f#$ken whistle! Does anyone have a f*&*en whistle!!!!!!"

Guess it's ok for Keefe not to be organized, complacent or forgetful but not his team or assistant coaches?

Again, I like the passion and drive Keefe has.... but I don't think his authoritative approach is getting the respect of his players or coaching staff (see his argument with the goalie coach). Keefe was throwing Andersen under the bus but when Briere defended Andersen and gave him valid arguments on why Andersen wasn't to blame, Keefe through a tantrum like a little kid, and when Briere again pushed the topic of Andersens goals being unstoppable Keefe again refused to discuss it and said "fu%$ off".
Sure showed that other coaches opinions were not respected. Sadly. Loved Jumbo comment of we are a first play team. He was basicially stating coach you are over reacting. The others sat there tuning him out. So many tirades in a short season.

no coaches spoke other then Goalie coach who was told to F off.

I think these are a bit of an over-reaction. We're seeing tiny snapshots of 4-5 months of a team spending most days together. Keefe not having his whistle is a minor thing, it happens and the world doesn't come to an end; A staff member not having equipment ready for a game, etc. is a big thing.

As for the tantrum. Huddle together a dozen current and ex-NHL coaches and ask them if they've ever acted like that. Most would probably admit "weekly, at least". He was angry at the loss and lashing out at what he saw as weak goals. To me, far from a tantrum. And I'd bet within hours, the next day at the latest, they were back to work and put it past them.

Keefe is a lot tougher on the players than i thought, constantly riding them about playoff hockey and trying to push them. His speech in game 6 had the team fired up and dominating until one stupid giveaway ends up in the net.

Needed more “f***in” from the coach. Complete the odd sentence without it just to mix it up.

Yea, I really feel for Matthews/Marner, especially Matthews.

He really did have a great series with only 5 points to show for it despite wrecking one of the best two-way guys in the league in Danault. It hurts the most in that it's his own fault of course. Gotta stop missing and hitting posts and put the puck in the net. You can outplay and outwork the other side but if you can't deliver the final stroke, what was the point in the end. Price and maybe the wrist injury played a part here of course but you can see how badly he and Marner want it. Makes me want to cheer for them even more TBH.

Just watched Episode 1 and like others have said, I have a new found respect for Keefe. It also unfortunately verifies what I thought all along about some of our core 4...entitled, omniscient when it comes to the game. Keefe saw what Babcock probably saw with this core, only he handled it a bit better by consulting with the players and being less adversarial. But make no mistake, Keefe is a better coach than many here give him credit for, including me.
Completely agree. The same core hasn't got the job done 5 years straight in the first round and they were all winnable series that this team can't seem to close out. Sure there have been questionable coaching decisions here and there but in the end it's the players job to perform at a high and consistent level.

I've only watched 3 episodes so far and its already confirmed for me that its the character of our star players that is the problem. They are complacent. They didn't like that Keefe was giving them a hard time even after wins but don't see his reasoning. This team has many times shown that they outscore their problems until the offense dries up and then you are just left with a complete mess of a game. Keefe is just trying to show them that they are falling back into old bad habits that we can't have again come playoff time and instead they just brush it off as him overthinking things and who cares how we look as long as we're winning. Its an immature attitude that I wish the veterans like Jumbo would be on their case about. Matthews is not ready for captaincy imo.

Hopefully this time the loss stinks in enough that they realize why Keefe needs to ride them. Complacency is not a good thing to have creep in, especially when they’ve accomplished nothing but the odd personal trophy.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I'm through 4 episodes and it appears to me like Keefe had his finger on the pulse of the team.

Even though they were in 1st, Keefe was concerned about winning habits, closing games out, with an eye towards the playoffs all while the players seemed to be complacent with where they were at.

To me the Keefe Dubas meetings seemed a little Scripted or forced. The camera was already in Dubas’s office before Keefe walked in.
