Trade #1

To Carolina: Anderson

To Montreal: Niedereiter

Hurricanes add a power forward in his prime to their lineup

Habs clear Anderson's long term salary from their payroll. Niedereiter's expiring contract could be attractive to a contender at the deadline, especially with 50% retention

Trade #2

To Columbus: Petry

To Montreal: Boqvist

Blue Jackets upgrade their D

Habs add a young Dman with upside, while shedding Petry's long term contract without taking back any significant salary in return

Trade #3

To Buffalo: Gallagher, Savard, Allen

To Montreal: 2022 7th, Dell

Sabres add a veteran RW to provide leader ship to their young core, a veteran RD to mentor their young D, and a serviceable veteran goalie

Habs rid themselves of the long term contracts of Gallagher and Savard without having to take back any salary

Trade #4

To Philly: Toffoli, Hoffman

To Montreal: Tuomaala, JVR, Lindblom

Flyers upgrade at LW

Habs pick up a speedy winger prospect, while also clearing the 3rd year of Toffoli and Hoffman's contract

Trade #5

To Chicago: Dvorak

To Montreal: 2022 2nd, EDM's 2022 3rd, Johnson

Hawks get a young Chicago native who's just entering his prime, while also clearing Johnson's long term contract

Habs pick up a 2nd and 3rd rd pick in the 2022 draft, while clearing the final season of Dvorak's contract

Trade #6

To Toronto: Drouin (50% retained), Evans

To Montreal: 2022 1st, 2022 2nd, Robertson, Ritchie

Leafs get an upgrade at LW in their top 6, and versatile bottom 6 forward who's a Toronto native

Habs add a 2022 1st, a 2022 2nd, and a LW prospect with upside in Robertson

Trade #7

To Florida: Chiarot

To Montreal: 2023 2nd, Sourdif, Hornqvist

Panthers get an upgrade on D, while clearing Hornqvist's salary off the books for next season

Habs add a speedy C prospect with upside, while Hornqvist could possibly be flipped with 50% retention to a contender at next year's trade deadline

Trade #8

To St. Louis: Edmundson

To Montreal: Bolduc, Scandella

Blues add a top 4 LD

Habs get a skilled prospect from Quebec to add to their long term core, and a Montreal native in Scandella to eat up minutes on their blueline during the rebuilding years

Trade #9

To Edmonton: Lehkonen (50% retained), Kulak

To Montreal: Lavoie, Turris, Ryan

Oilers get an upgrade to their bottom 6, plus a veteran Dman to provide depth to their blueline

Habs pick up a hometown prospect forward with upside

Trade #10

To New York: Armia, Wideman

To Montreal: Kravtsov, Nemeth

Rangers get some size and scoring at RW with Armia, while Wideman gives them some additional depth at RD. Clearing Nemeth out allows Hajek to take over at LD on the bottom pairing

Habs get an offensively gifted forward prospect who could benefit from a change of scenery, plus a veteran Dman in Nemeth to eat up minutes on the blueline during the rebuilding years

Montreal out: Gallagher, Anderson, Drouin, Hoffman, Toffoli, Dvorak, Armia, Lehkonen, Evans, Petry, Chiarot, Savard, Edmundson, Kulak, Wideman, Allen

Outgoing salary: 55.975 million

Montreal in: STL's 2022 1st, TOR's 2022 1st, TOR's 2022 2nd, CHI's 2022 2nd, FLA's 2023 2nd, EDM's 2022 3rd, Bolduc, Robertson, Sourdif, Kravtsov, Lavoie, Tuomaala, Boqvist
JVR, Niedereiter, Hornqvist, Johnson, Lindblom, Ritchie, Turris, Ryan, Scandella, Nemeth, Dell

Incoming salary: 38.37 million (not including prospects)

Approx. 17.6 million cleared from Montreal's cap this season... which could then be used to take on additional cap dumps along with the picks/prospects that come with them

Simple NO from the Habs...Next.

Montreal won't trade these players.
Suzuki , Caufield , Dvorak ,
Romanov , Edmundson ,

Montreal would only trade 1 of these players
Toffoli , Anderson . Hoffman .

Montreal only trade these players if trade is requested .
Price , Gallagher ,

Montreal currently likely have these players available for trades.

Drouin , Armia , Lehkonon , Evans , Poehling , Paquette , Pezzetta , Perreault , Byron , Petry , Savard , Kulak , Wideman . Niku , Norlinder , Allen , Montembeault .

Montreal Ownership doesn't seem to care about his players and management either!!
It's Molson's team I'm assuming that if he didn't care about or want those in managment around any longer he'd fire them and the players he didn't care about and want any longer he'd trade them or get ride of them any way possable.

1. Why is Edmundson untouchable?
2. I dont see Anderson, Poehling, Norlinder, Evans available either.

We arent talking about a top pair guy here. He would be available if a team came calling with a good enough deal....
Montreal have no reason to trade Edmundson the team needs NHL talent players that are proven . Montreal won't get a better defenceman in return for Edmundson .

I wouldn't sell right now. This season is already a lost cause, so there's no immediate urgency. Wait to see who can turn it around and start making trades when they have more value.

there is a bit of a danger with that theory though . let's say chariot can get us a late first at 50% retention. if you wait to long and he gets hurt than we're shit out of luck . someone offers the late first tomorrow we should take it . bring up some kids to get their feet wet . it's in our best interest to finish bottom 5 this year anyway . anyone who thinks we should try to turn it around and get in the playoffs needs some serious medical attention

Even if they don't, Edmunson isn't a world beater. They wont win or lose because he is or isnt in the line up. IMO They are better served letting Romanov get the reps.
edmundson for 3.5 million a year as a shutdown defenseman is a bargain. only if someone seriously overpaid should he be traded

Montral are not doing a rebuild its just not happening .
we should if we wanna get back near the top . 2-3 years goes by real quick . it's almost irresponsible, stupid, inconceivable not to .

careful trading free agents. if there all for it like toffoli back to LA and he's all for it sure . doing it against a players wishes will seriously hurt our ability to sign future free agents

Montreal is in a really tough spot. You’ve got some good young pieces that you shouldn’t trade and then you’ve got a huge pile of veterans that are underperforming long-term contracts. Chiarot is the only classic expiring contract rental player worth making a move for. A desperate team may offer a first, but he more likely draws a second.

Bergevin won't have the chance to make a fire sale. He just hired a bunch of players and coaching staff. He will be replaced before any significant move
This....................so obvious to most...........there is zero chance the clown who put it all together, and is gone next season makes any of these kinds of decisions..........
I really think accountability is about to fall on Bergevin any day..........I think the habs have a new GM and hopefully a President of Operations named also...........Mol$on needs to put himself away from hockey operations asap.
It is a real mess in Montreal....

I think Chiarot is as good as gone and given Savard comp last year (and Scandella 2 years ago who got a 2nd and who is a lesser D), I'd see him getting a 1st + 3rd as floor with 50 % retention (not as if he was a PMD, but he is a solid shutdown Dman who pleayed 22+ minutes in the playoffs until SC final, competitive bidding can even potentially increase the price). What is the value of a 24 - 32 OA when you think getting the player increases your chances to get the SC ?

One of Kulak Wideman Niku maybe gets something like a 5th - 7th from a contending team looking for D depth

My guess is that Petry and one of Toffoli, Hoffman and Anderson could be moved but rather in the offseason (during Draft day possibly).

Kravtsov + Rangers 1st for Dvorak and Kulak

I don't think the Rangers would take on Dvorak's salary... the extensions of Zibanejad and Fox kick in next season, and they still have nearly 3.5 million in dead cap tied up in buyouts
