That first one was pretty well unstoppable by any goalie.Yeah, I wouldn't blame any goals tonight on the deflections. Defence has their guys tied up perfectly.

Well since those threads are all about a single player Ina pretty important position it’s not really about the team in the last three games, it’s about the performance of that player in his last 5 games(being generous there).Top 3 threads are all fire threads. We had 2 good games and one bad.. gotta love this joint
Campbell was a shit goalie in TO. He has not changed. 4 teams and 4 goaltending coaches later? We hoped he would be better here.. we were wrongWell since those threads are all about a single player Ina pretty important position it’s not really about the team in the last three games, it’s about the performance of that player in his last 5 games(being generous there).
it should be no surprise there’s more to talk about after a loss, there’s more to dissect, and yes people are a bit upset and so come here to vent.
Tell me how many goalies go to the all star game one year and then the next year are the worst goalie in the league? I thought Campbell was like 5’10”, but he is 6’3”. Fire Dustin Schwartz and bring in a real goalie coach.Campbell was a shit goalie in TO. He has not changed. 4 teams and 4 goaltending coaches later? We hoped he would be better here.. we were wrong
But we needed that Oil King experience.Tell me how many goalies go to the all star game one year and then the next year are the worst goalie in the league? I thought Campbell was like 5’10”, but he is 6’3”. Fire Dustin Schwartz and bring in a real goalie coach.
Bad enough we lost Frederic Chabot and hired this guy.
I wasn’t a huge Chabot fan either.Tell me how many goalies go to the all star game one year and then the next year are the worst goalie in the league? I thought Campbell was like 5’10”, but he is 6’3”. Fire Dustin Schwartz and bring in a real goalie coach.

Look at the statistics of the goalies who have been coached by Chabot in Minny. Also remember we had the Dubnyk/Chabot combo playing behind an actual dumpster fire defence. That combo was not good enough for Mactavish and Chabot was not part of the old boys club. Makes me sick the ineptitude of this org during those years.I wasn’t a huge Chabot fan either.
I don’t get why when the korns of the world etc are off contract we aren’t throwing a pile of money their way to help us turn the goaltending around or at least identify strong options.
Like if Schwartz is the main guy scouting and evaluating goalie mechanics going into the draft I have no faith in our draft picks spend on goalies. For instance trading back with Minnie and not taking wallstedt I like borgault etc but like was Schwartz a big reason we skip the goalie prospect? Or was he so in love with cossa he didn’t want wallstedt and looked past him?
Either way I don’t know is wallstedt turns out at all I am just questioning anything Schwartz does since I don’t think he can evaluate or coach. Not to make this as draft thread since I do truly really like borgault and think it was a great selection
Dustin Schwartz was only hired because he was in their own backyard coaching for a league that's well below the NHL.Look at the statistics of the goalies who have been coached by Chabot in Minny. Until the Oilers take goaltending seriously nothing will change. The NHL is a competitive league and these guys just do not care. Look at Florida for an example. They have a department for goaltending excellence headed by Roberto Luongo and 1 of the best goaltending coaches in history.
If they want to keep it nepotistic they should hire Ranford. Holland should have fired this guy the day he was hired.Dustin Schwartz was only hired because he was in their own backyard coaching for a league that's well below the NHL.
It's nepotism and no amount of posturing will make it look anything better than that. Since 2006 there was exactly one year where I'd say the Oilers had good goaltending and that was 2016-17.
Holland should've cleared out almost everyone from before his time.If they want to keep it nepotistic they should hire Ranford. Holland should have fired this guy the day he was hired.
Smith had his own goalie coach in the offseason according to some posters here. Would not be surprised if he did not listen to Schwartz as a vet.Yeah honestly while he didn’t ruin smith I think that is basically since smith is so aggressive in the crease that he was challenging regardless. Whereas the rest just sink back
Interesting to know maybe with mike smith off contract they talk to him more so about the goaltending as a consultant on what he thinks of Schwartz.Smith had his own goalie coach in the offseason according to some posters here. Would not be surprised if he did not listen to Schwartz as a vet.

It was Bob Green pushing for him…just like he did with Griffen ReinhardDustin Schwartz was only hired because he was in their own backyard coaching for a league that's well below the NHL.

Schwartz has coached Skinner for a long time and Skinner looks like a really well coached goalie to me. They spend all their summers together in the years skinner developed so I don't think the goalie coach is an issue.
Could also be that Skinner grew up watching the Oilers so he is specifically conditioned to expect horrific breakdowns in succession. He's been hardened mentally. As a MacTambLowe era Oilers fan, he likely developed a superhuman ability to shrug off gut wrenching despair
