Was it in 2017-18? That is the inflection point, Summer of 2017. They had to trade Panarin and Hjalmarsson that summer and they chose to go for Saad and Murphy instead of futures.

That team was pretty bad.

imagine if we got Dubois and firsts for Panarin instead of having Saad be the main piece just for him to be a complete bum and play like a 3rd liner

There is zero question this guy needs to be out, he is clueless. Thing is removing him is likely not going to magically transform this group into a winning team. This is not a good team and those hoping for a huge reversal are probably setting themselves up for yet another major disappointment. Improvement? Yes, but franchise has issues from top to bottom. There is no quick fix.

There is.

The Hawks players are firmly rooted offensively in a possession type offense.

Get a coach who stresses puck possession and you might have something with all this talent

For one his track record is good.

He was well liked among Rangers players. A big thing is he's really good with developing young talent. Guys like Fox and Laf credit him a lot, and his Boston University coaching resume speaks for itself. That's guys like Eichel, Grzelcyk, McAvoy, Keller, and Tkachuk he had a hand in developing.

I think Quinn would get a lot out of Kirby, Ian, etc.

could have had Gallant in the off season before they fired Quinn

It's unreal that he still has a job...I haven't been this sour on the organization for a long time - watching these games is twisting the dagger in my gut.

You're not the only one. Did you hear the crowd reaction last evening when JC was introduced? I can't remember a Hawks HC getting such booing and in the home opener to boot. If that rude reception doesn't get Rocky's attention what will it take? If he waits much longer to pull the plug(s) we are looking at another lost season and it will be just a matter of time before the fed-up fans rebel and not attend games. We've been there before.

Another bad loss and you have to move on if you want to salvage this season. They won't though.
I am curious as to why you are so sure they won't move on. They made a point to say that Stan had full autonomy over hockey decisions. So this was his decision to go in this year rather than continue the rebuild. It was his decision to continually ride with Colliton. I could see them both getting fired if its two or three more losses in a row.

I still can't believe they gave this clown an extension THIS CALENDAR YEAR.

Stan should be fired for that alone.

Unreal.

Well, JC is HIS boy. He replaced Q with his clown, and firing him now would only make him admit he blew it. The longer this losing goes on though, the worse it looks for both of them.
