Kings News: Fiala to for 2022 first-round pick and Brock Faber

The Kings just got a 25 yr old, dynamic winger, signed for 7 years...that was the 22nd leading scorer in the NHL...for a blue chip defenseman prospect that apparently was not signing with the Kings and the 19th OA.
While a good pick, 3 yrs away and may not even be a player that makes it. Consider TBL give up 2 #1's for Hagel?
(whether or not they are going to be in the late 20s)

Kopitar was the #1 Kings scorer at #61 in the league. Fiala had 14 more goals than Kopi and 4 more assists.
The Kings just went from a poor offensive team, to middle of the pack and also improved their PP too.

This deal can put the Kings ahead of Edm and Calgary....especially if Byfield and Kaliyev start making bigger impacts...and Drew is back too!

Fiala is great. The only way this is bad is if Todd f***s things up. Or he’s always injured. Who cares about Faber, dude was hyped to hell for no real reason. And the first doesn’t matter for at least 5 years.

The contract is what you have to pay to make this deal work. And the player is young so it’s worth it because you’re getting the full of his prime years. The biggest issue is that it sucks up all projected available cap space.

So to make more improvements, you need to shed salary elsewhere.

I expect Iafallo to be in the bottom six next year.

Kempe - Kopitar - Fiala
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson

There was hope of some reflection and deciding to integrate the forwards more.

The Kings don't have Kaprizov. So, expect the points to drop.
The Kings had two assets they could have leveraged for a more pressing issue - LD.
I heard he only played w Kaprizov 5% of the time.. from my kid - have yet to verify

Plus side:

He scored 85 pts
He Good on Powerplay
He like a hard worker I think

Minus Side:

He sign for lot money
Kevin Fiala is a stupid name that sounds like a nobody grinder like Scott Parse or something
He maybe no good next season
Our team is midget

Hypothetically, if the Kings wanted to sign Forsberg, they could do it if they moved a few pieces.

I know it's far fetched.

Arvidisson and Forsberg are good friends. But so are Fiala and Forsberg from their Nashville days. Plus we've got lots of Swedes (Kempe, Bjornfot, Grundstrom).

Kings might be one of Forsberg's most attractive suitors now.

Wild fan here Fiala never played on Kaprizov's Line execpt PP. Fiala is Streaky ,can take dumb penalties and sometimes makes odd decisions while trying to do to much. That said for 7.9 mil you got a hell of a player that until this year when playing with Boldy a rookie, never had any decent linemates. If the kings surround him with good linemates i have no doubt the guy could put up 90+ pts. Enjoy he is electric when he is on and the Wild probably would have kept him if not for our cap space. Good luck LA kings you guys are one of my favorite teams!

get scott parse’s name out your f***in mouth

hes a saint

Kevin Fiala's average point total before this season was about 45.

This is risky as f***.
That's not how this works. Did you consider the amount of games played, his role in the team, the linemates?
Even this season, he played with mostly scrubs on the 2nd line as well as 2nd PP formation but was still above PPG.

If you look at the scoring per TOI over the last 3 years, his company is just fine:

Fiala only played with Kaprizov on the power play. He played mainly with Fredrick Gaudreau and Matt Boldy, who collectively had fewer points than Fiala last season. 66 even strength points almost exclusively without Kaprizov. If he ends up with Kopitar and Kempe, he should be in good position to produce.

Great trade. A line driver for Kopitar. Kopi can play his two way game and let the two horses on the wings fly. The better players we bring in, the more it drops players into proper roles. AI is a competent 2nd liner

Our right side D is set now and for years to come. Traded from a position of strength, We have a ton of young smaller defensive defensemen in the orginixzation and at NHL level such as Anderson, Bjornfot, on the left side and an offensively smaller right shot guys like Doughty, Walker, Durzi on the right. Huge hopes for Clarke and Grans in the future.

We now seem to have an excess forward problem. Pack some forwards and prospects up for a Chychrun, Hague, Soucy etc.

Love it:

3 top 6 guys in the last year in Danault, Arvidsson and Fiala for a 19th overall, (2) 2nds and a 3rd. Great work Blake.

Pretty surprised that Blake didn't give him an 8 year deal to bring down the per year cap hit.

That would be wild LOL
Yeah, I'm not advocating for it, but it's possible. (If it's true that he only wants 8M)

There has been times when teams have gone crazy in the offseason. Like when the Rangers signed both Gomez and Drury.

After the Kings traded for M. Richards, they came extremally close to signing B. Richards as well during the same offseason.

I like the trade buttttt….Why not use 1st and Faber to get Chychrun and then just sign Forsberg for 8 mil a year?
