Kings News: Fiala to for 2022 first-round pick and Brock Faber

I don’t think the difference between Filip Forsberg and Fiala is Faber who’s undoubtedly going to be a top 4 dman and a 19 OA. Forsberg was asking for like 8.2 million. 300k difference. Don’t know about this one. Don’t think he’s a bad player, but I feel like free agency and keeping faber would have been amazing.
Blake met with Faber and they were in a suite together at a game...and he offered him a contract and (apparenlty) told Faber he could debut vs the Wild the next week....so it's not Rob's fault that Faber didn't sign. Maybe Brock told him that his intentions were to play out 4 yrs and sign with the Wild. What can you do?
It also lessens his trade value, when Minny may know they can wait 2 years and just sign him.

If that's the case, this is a great trade....a 25 yr old that scores 85 points? Not playing on Kaprizov's line?
5 PPG and 17 PP points, so he scores 5 on 5 and the Kings need that. He should help the PP though, for certain.
When was the last year the Kings had an 85 point scorer?

The #19 OA is good value, but that prospect would be 3 yrs away....Brandt Clarke is coming on and still have Grans. The RHD is strong for the next decade. Sure, Faber is going to be a stud, but may have never wanted to ever sign here.

Trade some excess for chychrun now.

Excited for next year.
Kings should def go for chyhcrun at 50% now.

As long as Clarke/Byfield arnt the ask... i feel like kings should do it .

The kings took advantage os somone else's cap issues. We should do the same with the LD. Arizona is not near the cap, Vegas is. Hague is the guy we should be going after. He's bigger, plays a more physical game, cheaper and has some offensive upside.
Hague would be a solid add too.... much cheaper too.

I hate this trade so much.

This almost guarantees Byfield plus every other forward prospect, except maybe Kaliyev, to playing 11-12 minutes a night and to keep playing as the grinders.

And they spent a 1st + a bluechip defensive prospect to further impede the forward prospect development and chase another playoff appearance.
The rebuild was over when they picked up Danault and Arvidsson.. guaranteeing a middle pack finish ie. no more high picks. So he's committing to building via trade going fwd. 19th OA and Faber who wasnt going to sign isnt such a steep price since the D pipe is so full. Fiala over a ppg. First thing he needs to do is apologize to Matt Roy

Will you like it more if Blake moves Iafallo and opens up a roster spot?
I expect Iafallo to be in the bottom six next year.

Kempe - Kopitar - Fiala
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson

Either through trade or free agency, this was happening regardless. The direction was determined last offseason
There was hope of some reflection and deciding to integrate the forwards more.

The Kings don't have Kaprizov. So, expect the points to drop.
The Kings had two assets they could have leveraged for a more pressing issue - LD.

Honestly, I really like the deal now after thinking about it :P 1st + Faber is not a bad price to get a 25-year-old winger off of a 33-goal 85-point season and who is now our longest-signed King at a manageable cap hit... He is a very talented winger and is probably the most talented winger this team has had in a long time. We've been clamoring for a player like this and Blake pulled it off for a late first and a depth defenseman with 3-4 upside in a logjammed system. Hats off. This is looking good. Surprised that Blake threw down the gauntlet and made the move right away, honestly.

First thing for Fiala to do is take Roy out for a nice steak dinner.

*smashes Roy's face into back of chair at Ruth Chris*

You know I'm with you...but it's not even July. I expect Blake to be preeeettty active between now and the draft and free agency.

I'm fine with the deal, the contract is a bit much for me. I feel about a million a year too much

Most of this has been covered already but yeah, that tells me Faber was a likely goner anyway, and the 1st is the cost of business. I haven't been huge on Fiala--I said he's probably just a 50-60 point guy here--but that's a good hockey trade by Blake, considerate of Minnesota (good for relations later), leveraging our assets without giving up bluechips, signing to a fair extension based on the market. Based on how Danault, Arvidsson, Moore have played out I can give Blake the benefit of the doubt on my lingering concerns re: this player at least. Like @King'sPawn says, though, have to keep an eye on what this says about the youth and filling out the forward corps, I fully expect Blake to really be active this summer, but this is a big stamp on the team of what he wants to see...even more speed and punch. Fiala is really similar to Moore with less D awareness and more finish.

Rosen still with the best takes on the Kings, and for free, and without being chastised on social media.

I Like the trade and extension. Did Faber a solid moving him home and acquiring some much needed scoring.
I actually think this makes it less likely Vilardi or Kupari are dealt, in that LA will need forwards with potential on affordable contracts. I think this deal does mark the end for Iafallo, who can be swapped out for LHD and/or picks.
Thinking the moves are not done for LA this offseason.

Is Rosen smoking crack? He thinks they are still in on Forsberg?? With what money?

Didn’t know that. Makes a lot more sense. Thanks

If the Kings want to add, somebody with salary is getting moved. Not re-signing Lemieux would give the Kings about 3M to work with.

I'd move on from Walker and Lemieux before Iafallo.

After watching all of his goals this season I can guarantee you he is gonna be money with PD. He’s a rush guy who has fast hands. His transition play looks to be really good exceptional I don’t see him untilizing his skill set with kopitars slow the game down and hold possession game.

Fiala-Danault-Arvidson might be our first line.

I don't agree with him there but they DO have some flexibility with moves, ie Iafallo, Kempe, etc...our Cap isn't as locked as a team with a bunch of NMCs, our assets are eminently moveable, keep in mind there are some outgoing free agents as well...and in the next few years some dead cap is leaving as well

In other words if they wanted to do some big fish hunting they'd just have to send a good roster player out.

I think all Rosen is saying is that if Blake really wants to go for something big this summer, he can.
