Hope we get Chychrun and Debrincat too so the kings can change their name to LA Oompa Loompas

I mean, unless you are moving AI+Kempe, only 2 moves to open up space would be DD or Kopi…

And while forsberg is an upgrade on Kempe, not sure he is enough. (Unless you got some really good pieces for AI/Kempe)

I agree. It's not about Forsberg specifically I think; just pointing out that if Blake wants to make another big splash it just means we have to shift some parts around, ie we aren't backed into a corner where we can't move. and I don't think he's done.

I hate this trade so much.

This almost guarantees Byfield plus every other forward prospect, except maybe Kaliyev, to playing 11-12 minutes a night and to keep playing as the grinders.

And they spent a 1st + a bluechip defensive prospect to further impede the forward prospect development and chase another playoff appearance.
Becoming increasingly obvious that they never wanted to rebuild. Faber is going to be a 22 minute stud defender very quickly.

See what I mean about racing to the middle? Here comes another season of 20+ minutes a night for Kopitar with another mismatched winger who won't know how to or enjoy playing with him.

Guessing we will now see Vilardi, Turcotte, Bjornfot, Spence and Iafallo dealt for Crouse and Chychrun.

Sad to see so many fans here thinking this is the right way to do business.

Nope.

Fiala - Byfield - Kempe

Kopitar likes playing with Iafallo, let him keep doing it.

They ain't paying Fiala $8M to make sure grandpa takes his meds. The Kings aren't getting past the best in the West for at least a couple more seasons. Playing Fiala with Kopitar = Waste. Of. Time.
Guess it's gonna be a long summer for you.

Ok, that I agree with. If you move Walker and AI. Another middle six/2nd pairing D is definitely doable. And doesn’t have to be 1 for 1. I could see both Walker and AI going for 2nds.

Very excited with the trade! Todd will probably make him grind it out and really earn his minutes unfortunately. Hopefully this means we never have to watch Lolfallo on the pp, or the top line, or getting big minutes in OT, etc...........

Yeah and I'm not even necessarily saying they have to do anything elese, either, just that it's a possibility. And it seems like quite a few people in the know are saying "LA isn't done."

While I do think the team needs improvement on D, does the team really need a player with as large a cap hit as Chychrun though?

Looking at the stat lines for last year, The Kings were #20 on Goals for at 235 compared to The Panthers at #1 with 337. However on the Goals Against, The Canadians had the most at 317, The Hurricanes had the least 200, The Kings were at 9th with 232, in fact we gave up the same amount of goals at The Avalanche, except they had 308 goals.
Good callout. This is plenty of an upgrade for this year.. there is no way to fill all the holes now - just have try to keep grooming the ELC players into positions. Fiala is the right age for the window opening in 2 or 3 years. But to keep adding big contracts now is a mistake.

Are we forgetting that Clarke exists? Faber probably saw the writing on the wall with a stacked right side. You can’t keep every prospect in the fold forever, and in this case, they dealt from a position of strength and got better now and this could benefit the younger players in the long run.

This, only so many minutes to go around. This is part of the reason drafting is important. It allows you to fill the gaps of other misses. The hits on Spence+Faber have allowed the Kings to trade for a scoring winger they desperately need. While still having Clarke/Grans/Durzi etc etc

LMAO....holy shit...Faber, 22 minute stud defender....HAS NEVER PLAYED THE PRO GAME BEFORE.....

Freaking hilarious......tell you what, if Faber plays 22 minutes a year next year in the NHL....you can crow all you want....

No, but you don't have to trade them to improve the now when your best chance at success is still years down the road.

This is impatience, trying to maximize the past. Fiala is a good player, I will enjoy watching him, but he just isn't a needle mover and it only further limits the upward mobility of some very talented COST CONTROLLED players.

They aren't winning anything with this roster, its just depressing to see such possibility limited to get a little bit better now.

Amazing to think that was once the best set of prospects in the league might yield just one or two 4th liners and STILL be 50/50 just to get into the playoffs.

Even though Fiala should be top line, for now they may still through Iafallo up there as that is Kopitar's preference.

Iafallo - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Danault - Arvidsson
Moore - Byfield - Kaliyev
Lemieux - Lizotte - Deslauriers

Grundstrom - JAD fill the holes as needed

Obviously Deslauriers isnt under contract and since he was protected by the Ducks last summer may be headed back there.

Trade for picks or let go
Vilardi and Lias A

he's 25, and the kings are overloaded on right d. Relax

It's becoming increasingly obvious each passing day that there's a handful of posters on this board who have no f***ing clue how sports works, especially PRO sports.....it's actually mind boggling, that someone can look at this trade and go....WTF...this is horrible....we traded a draft pick, literally...an unknown....and a prospect who is leaning towards not signing and we can lose for nothing....for an 85 point player last year, who is 25 f***ing years old and going...OMG we are so f***ed.....

How? Can anyone explain that thought process to me........
