Made the team.

It looks like he’ll start out on the second line centering Zuccarello and Spooner.

Edit: Looks like he might play on the third with Fast and Spooner instead. Zucc is out with a maintenance day today, but it looks like he'll actually be playing on Hayes line to start the season, if today's lines are any indication. Not bad line mates for Chytil though. Spooner puts up points, even if he doesn't do much else. Fast is one of the best bottom six players in the NHL.

How would he not even crack our lineup? He’s still our best prospect and nothing has changed, seems like you’re only basing this off of Traverse City (which he was more good than bad in) and the first half of today’s preseason game

He's looked pretty bad so far. Which is again disappointing, but as I said I didn't feel he had a strong camp. I know some people thought he looked good and at times I'd agree, but I don't think he improved a ton from last season. There's a few more games here for sure, but right now as a slide candidate, I wonder if he makes it passed 9. It's the wrong developmental course to put this guy on the 4th line.

Not close to bad. He’s shown great vision and he’s still getting used to the NHL. He’s been playing with a very low TOI as well and is playing 4th line. I’d rather try and break him as a winger though
He looks like he’s playing more cautious than pre-season where he was making crazy end to end rushes. I wouldn’t call him anywhere near bad though, he’s been as expected. No one expected him to dominate right off the bat
2 points in 4 games so far isn’t bad either

I think around December/January he’ll start to play like pre season form when he gets comfortable

We're watching two different players then.

How? Chytil has shown good flashes so far, I think you’re expecting too much out of him. Let him get comfortable, if he’s still playing like this in January then come talk but it’s his first season, what more could you expect other than good flashes? No rookie starts the season dominating all over the ice, especially Chytil who just turned 19. It’s 4 games in and he was very good in preseason

Offensively Chytil has been pretty good. Each game he has 2 or 3 great setups but just two assists to show for it, his wingers are getting layups they're missing on. It's just 4 games but he's creating more offense than Hayes. He does need to look to get more shots through, get to the net, to be more consistent shift to shift. Defensively he needs to work on coverage more, he's made some mistakes and seems to bit nervous to make more mistakes. I would keep him in the NHL for now. Nemestikov is playing much better and plays to Chytils strength being on his wing.

I don't think I'm expecting too much from him, all I'm saying is, I don't think he's ready, and if he's at a place where he's getting limited minutes on the 3rd or even 4th line like he has been, why keep him up? Especially with how he has played. And the fact he's slide eligible?

Yep, he played better in preseason. When teams are littered with rookies, ptos, and ahl depth.

If he continues to play like this given he's slide eligible, I don't think he makes it to January. There are still a few games here for him to rise up, but I really think he has to show up before the 9 game mark. It'll be interesting to see if he can.

Also as per young rookies, I'd argue Pettersson, Comtois, and Jokiharju have looked good all over the ice. Especially Comtois and Jokiharju.

To me, they’re easing him into the NHL. He doesn’t seem to be completely comfortable with the pace right now, which is why they’re limiting his minutes and why he’s not totally consistent shift to shift. Give it some time, he’ll get his minutes once he’s comfortable

Good underlying numbers, creating chances every game... He just has bad puck luck so far, points will come.

I think he's looked a lot better the last two games. He's playing with confidence and seeing the ice a lot better. I think he struggled early at center but he's better suited for wing right now. Hopefully that's just temporary until Hayes gets traded and he gets his feet under him

Seems to be a theme with Czech players. Play well and have nothing to show for it. Looking at guys like Zacha, Vrana or Hertl. (though Hertl is having a good start to the season).

I have seen Chytil just once this season and even though he showcased some nice skill, I wasn't all that impressed. Glad to hear he has been better the past couple games.

I think he looks like he belongs in the NHL, but is struggling when he gets to the scoring areas that decide games, which I guess makes sense for a rookie.

He shouldn’t be playing center at the NHL level. Gorton should’ve never tried to force that. Best to let him play wing for a season or two, and let him become a good NHL player before you force him to play center. He might actually never be a center. He needs to concentrate on becoming a good NHL player. Whether it’s center or wing can be figured out later.

This is part of the problem of selling certain players as the yield of the rebuild. It’s harder to say Chytil is an eventual top 6 center, if he needs a couple of years on the wing with heavy o-zone starts to get his footing in the league. I wish the team would just admit that we suck and would stop trying to sell anyone as anything. We don’t know what Chytil and Andersson will be. Stop telling us those are the 1 and 2 centers, so we therefore need to eventually get rid of this player and that player. Let it all play out, and don’t place extra expectations on any of these players to turn around the rebuild. Compile good talent and let them develop into good hockey players. See where you are at then.

Looks like they're keeping him up, which I think is a mistake. He looked much better last season.

No one's mentioned it before, but I think Quinn being the coach for the Rangers might have been the worst outcome for this player. A couple of skilled players have looked very meh to bad in his system if they just don't fit the plan. Look at Buchnevich.

Yes, management has said this is a rebuild and expectations on team success should be lowered, and yes Quinn's a rookie head coach, but I really don't like him particularly because of the way he's handling so many of the assets this team has, and not just the young euro players. Just imagine this guy has a 5 year deal at 2mil+ a season. To me he's up there with Bill Peters as one of the greatest sell jobs for coaches. MSG signed this guy so he could get some Vogue covers or something since he's a young good looking coach, but he has very little pro success.

I like Quinn and the players definitely do as well. It’s nice to see he’s on really good terms with all of them and even takes out Chytil and Howden for breakfast which is cute. Quinn’s only mistake so far is playing Staal over Deangelo

As for Chytil’s play, he shows flashes of brilliance every game and slowly gets more comfortable. The points haven’t gone his way but he’s definitely an NHL caliber player, I think he’s too good for the AHL and the NHL would be better for his development

How would you know this?

I'll answer that for you. We don't.

We barely heard anything about how AV got on with the players, and nothing during the time he was coach. That stuff never is presented as anything other than right in line with expectations, regardless of whether thats true or not. We have not a jot the inner team dynamics. He's being presented in style as the anti-AV, but we don't know his perception within the locker room nor has it been enough time to judge whether he will be a good NHL head coach. Not all head coaches work out. The Garden selling him as the anti-AV doesn't mean he'll be good at coaching NHL hockey.

so far from what everyone has said it’s pretty clear our roster likes Quinn much, much more than AV

What are they supposed to say? lol.

That's besides the point. Just because someone is well liked doesn't mean they're good at their job. I'm sure Taylor Swift would be a well liked bench boss. To bring this back to Chytil, I don't think Quinn is right for his development and being up with the Rangers will end up changing the trajectory of his career.

Lol.

Sorry but this is such a horrible take as are the rest of yours in this thread.

He has every right to stay up with the club. He's played well enough.
