So looking forward what do we figure lines may shake out as?

Domi-Reinhart-Duclair
Ritchie-McDavid-Fabbri
Point-Petan-Lazar
Crouse-Paul-Virtanen
Gauthier

That would be my preference right now. Maybe switch Paul and Petan. Lazar isn't meshing with McD as well as Fabbri has. Gauthier shouldn't be on a regular line.

Dominating game.

McDavid has hockey sense on a level I haven't seen at the junior level in years.

Duclair and Virtanen are men playing against boys.

Domi is playing fantastic.

Morrissey and Bowey had a great game.

I'm pretty pumped for the 26th.

I thought Fucale had a good game, his glove looked good and that was the issue against Russia. A couple hiccups handling the puck but that's somewhat understandable as new teammates adjust to one another. I wish we had another pre-competition game to see Comrie again but those two will most certainly split the first two games of the tourney anyway.

Connor McDavid is just unreal. this kid is effortless.

Loses the puck in the center ice,
steals it back and cruises into enemy zone.

Swiss defence desperately collapse to box him out and cut off potential players McDavid can pass too, takes it away from Connor.

Connor efforlessly takes it back, and dekes em out of their jock strap
and generates more offence again.

around 7 minutes remaining in the 3rd this happened.

I can see why Kevin Lowe did nothing to improve his Oilers this summer.

For Connor McDavid. Indeed a Generational player. My Jaws are just dropped when he is playing.

I agree, McDavid made some unreal plays.

Duclair will light it up.

Virtanen looked really good out there. I think he'll be a dark horse.

Yeah McDavid is the best player in the tournament by far. He impacts the game every shift and honestly could have had 5 or 6 assists tonight if his linemates could finish. You just have to watch him play one game to see he is a generational talent.

If Fucale could stop bobbling every rebound that'd be great

One rebound on a nice arm save was the only real bobble. He had 4 or 5 pretty nice stops, gobbled up most rebounds or directed them properly. Also thought his passing was pretty good overall. Couldn't show much else in a game like this. He will likely start vs Slovak and Coms Germany unless something changes

What i hope the lines end up looking like

Domi - rienhart - duclair
Fabbri- mcdavid - virtanen
Point/ritchie - petan - lazar
Crouse - paul - point/ritchie
Gauthier

Virtanen is gonna finish the tourney on the 1st line. He has way to much talent, drive and work ethic

Out with friends and watched the game without sound. From what I saw...

Chippy. Could have got ugly. During the first 10 minutes Canada looked disorganized. Once we got the 2nd goal and TC relaxed, it was all over but the crying.

Duclair looked great. Fucale was fine.

I found it funny when TSN said Tie Domi never had a hat trick in the NHL.

1) This isn't the NHL
2) It wasn't even a hat trick, everyone and their dog know Domi's second goal was actually Duclair's even if the IIHF is too antiquated to change the game summary to reflect that.

IMO, the most important thing right now is to find the right linemates for McDavid. The two best wingers on this team are Domi and Duclair, and I doubt they'll want to split that line up.

So, the question is, who is the best pure goalscorer on the team, outside of Domi, McDavid, Reinhart and Duclair?

EDIT: Never noticed this before, but Domi reminds me a little bit of Jesse Pinkman.

sigh......

the thing is that Ritchie has the hardest wrist shot from the 2014 draft so I guess thats why the coaches tried him out with McDavid.

Some Canucks fans were saying Virtannen should be with McDavid, it's nothing about being a homer, Virtannen is a right handed shooter and the highest goal scoring Canadian player from the 2014 NHL draft. so naturally they are thinking well you might as well put a natual goal scorer with the most pure play maker.

anyways, I think it's best Fabbri plays with McDavid. Fabbri naturally can play a cycling game.

Jake Virtanen ?
Brayden Point ?

Not a bad game for Canada. A few thoughts:

Bowey is very much a mixed bag. He seems to run around on defence a lot, but he also manages to produce some great plays offensively. Interestingly the offensive plays don't really happen due to defensive cheating. I hope that he figures out how to calm down defensively.

They need someone who can finish on McDavid's line. Some of his setups were excellent, but wasted. Ritchie is a waste on that line, while Lazar can at least contribute away from the puck. Try Fabbri or maybe Virtanen with McDavid.

Virtanen looks over qualified for his fourth line minutes, though he does provide a nice threat from that spot.

I've tried to avoid talking about him given how much crap he gets, but Gauthier really doesn't deserve even strength minutes. He's fine defensively, but he handles the puck like it's a grenade. Give him a few shifts to keep him awake between PK duties, and otherwise let him sit. They should just run McDavid, Reinhart, Petan and Paul down the middle.

Domi and Duclair look good together while Reinhart fills in the gaps.

Morrissey reminds me of a bigger, smoother Ryan Ellis without the big shot. Impressed with him.

I don't know why they are lining Petan up with Lazar and McDavid on the powerplay. McDavid is the playmaker. They should either play with a goal scorer like Virtanen, or at least a net presence like Ritchie. It doesn't make sense.
