Where is this coming from? I thought the support for Bear was just fine? Didn’t Holland address it at length in a presser?
I’d take Bear’s word over Holland he’s the one that experienced it

He's not losing $22 million in future earnings, he's going to get a significant chunk of that money through settlement/arbitration and will be able to sign new contracts elsewhere.

And chances are it is his best result financially moving forward due to his bankruptcy proceedings.

I know that you are a long time respected poster on HF Oil, but this narrative that you are creating is false. The oilers have actually been a top tier team the last two seasons. This season we started off strong. Tops in the west, recently we have hit a wall, due to covid, injuries and goaltending. Poor 5 on 5 play and a decline in special teams. I’m not saying we are a top team in the NHL like our record showed early on, but we are also not a bottom team like our record is showing in the last 11. I get your frustrations but your assessment is simply not true. Our window is just opening now, we have prospects stepping up, and rumours such as this shows that what you see is not what you get come playoff time.
Yes, aside from garbage 5v5, special teams and goaltending the teams great!

Those mistakes have potentially cost him nearly $22m in future earnings. I don't see how you believe he's coming out on top here.

He'll get an opportunity to choose his destination because he's an elite athlete. But his behavior will prevent him from ever making the type of money he would have if he acted like an adult.
I didn't say he was coming out on top and I know he'll take a hit financially. I'm just saying the NHL team that signs him is continuing to reward him in spite of his behaviour.

Enough saved to re-up Hertl? ;)

Oh they can easily re-sign Hertl if both sides want to do that. It's just hard to expect the team to do that when they're staring down the barrel of a third consecutive season missing the playoffs. Hertl wants to compete for a Cup and the Sharks just aren't in a position to do that anytime soon. In part because they don't want to tear it down and rebuild.

When your best strategy for next season is going to be "hoping Duncan Keith retires" - you know your team is an absolute disaster

Is he not still unvaccinated? Seems unlikely he would go to a Canadian team with all the cross-border travel.

You have a link to this, because every report I've seen says otherwise.

Paraphrasing, conjecture, or make believe?

I mean

Ethan Bear on Edmonton after the 2021 playoffs: “It just felt like I was alone”

I'm not saying the team didn't help regarding the racism. However if a guy says he 'felt alone' after a playoffs. That's a strong quote.

Peter Chiarelli wouldn't make a move like this either. Telling you, if Holland makes this move he eventually gets himself fired or ends up getting McDavid demanding a trade.

Don't think Edmonton is a good fit either considering if he didn't like Winnipeg... he and the Oilers are a worse fit than Winnipeg right now.

I just read the Holland believes in second chances somewhere, Evander had like... five now, I lost count.

People need to stop with this statement. McDavid won't ask for a trade. A trade request from a player like McDavid can really affect future earnings. It could mean he refuses to sign another contract, but he won't ask for a trade.

I imagine the contract would be a 1 year deal.
If Kane is causing antics you trade him or you send him to the AHL.

It's that easy. McDavid wouldn't ask for a trade after his GM brings on a 6+ million dollar player for 1 million.
Now if the GM does neither and than re signs Kane and McDavid has expressed he doesn't want to ever play with him again. Then yea McDavid secretly asks for a trade or he plays out his contract and goes elsewhere.

I think Holland is smart enough to not do that to the best player right now.

If you read the quote, he felt alone after the series loss and the player exit meetings. It was not in reference to the racism he faced.

Every quote from Bear himself and the organization as well as Connor and Leon themselves points toward the org and the team condemning it and having his back.

Do you think the racism isn't a big part of why he felt that way? If your teammates don't reach out to you after the fanbase starts to turn on you, then that's not good. And if true, the Oilers players need a boot in the backside and some pointers on how to be a good teammate.
