I think Razzy, Weegar and Bahl have all been excellent.
Bean has been perfectly fine but not a guy I think is a long term Flame.
The rest are just journeymen and guys we won't remember them playing here in 6 years.

Agreed.

The Flames have a very low cap-hit. They obviously aren't trying to compete and have filled out their d-core with a few place holders. If they can trade those place holders for solid assets, that's obviously a plus.

Since we own their pick I've been watching Flames a little last 3 games. I'd like to give them a deal. Do a Sam Pollock when he traded Ralph Backstrom to the Kings to ensure Oakland drafted last and he got Lafleur.

Trade Matheson to Calgary for a 2nd. Then pickup Fabbro. Flames are a better team. We can move Guhle back to his natural side. We get the Flames pick, 14th or so. Montreal is weaker but helps Habs towards Martone.

Nah we're good. But by all means claim Fabbro, he's an upgrade over every RD you guys currently have

Yes, Habs do. Flames are playoff bubble team. They NOT going to finish bottom 10 in league.

Many bad teams in west a lot worse than Flames. Then a few in East. Calgary is strong in net, above average on blueline, below average up front. But still at .500 team at worst.

No they dont. What pick Habs get is decided after the season is over. There are all kinds of possiblities, but as of now, Habs do not own that pick.

If they did, you wouldn't be so nervous about Flames starting to lose games.

Yes the team that is 2-5-2 with a goal differential of -12 and 1 ROW since game 6. Playoff bound clearly

You're delusional if you think the Flames are a playoff team. We have a rookie and a mediocre backup sharing the net, below average defense and mediocre offense. A hot start doesn't change who they are. Enjoy Florida's pick because you aren't getting Calgary's.

He is technically right though while being wrong about the likely outcome. The Habs conditionally own the Flames pick while they wait to see how the conditions play out.

They faced a lot of easier opponents early as well as it usually takes a few games for teams to get into season form. That should be evident by how high scoring most games were to start the year.

I'm not saying they are only going to get 44 more points this season (their pace since that win streak), I'm just responding to the Habs troll that is constantly posting these things here and on the Flames board. If he's allowed to exaggerate calling Calgary a playoff team then I can do the same with their record since that win streak.

We'll trade 1st's, and cancel the remaining terms on that trade. Maybe we'll even throw in Pelletier.

Multiple reasons
  1. The Flames weren't going to continue to score 4-6 goals per game like they did in 4 of those 6 games. They were 7th on GF/GP over that stretch, it was not sustainable.
  2. Of their first 6 opponents, only 2 were playoff teams; one of whom did not have their #1 goaltender, and the other (Oilers) were struggling to get points from McDrai and Skinner was being early season Skinner
  3. The last 9 games are much closer to what was expected from the team.
  4. A sample size of 9 games is generally more reliable than one of 6 games, as it is 50% larger.
  5. Even bad teams go on winning streaks.
The Flames will be better than a .333 team the rest of the way, but they also won't be over .500
