Butler might onto something with the big defensemen. You don't need three pairings of 6'4 pylons, but size on the backend does make a team harder to play against. During Erie's 50 win seasons they always had at least one horse on the blueline. Donnay, Macdermid, Cernak or some combination depending on the year. Even the Oshawa team that beat Erie in the 14-15 finals was pretty big on D. The key will be not stifling skill in the pursuit of size and strength. Not a bad message from him to start all-in-all.
