I’m at loss of words for Lalonde. He can’t catch a break and get the win especially against the worst team in the OHL. He’s his biggest critic and wouldn’t go to the locker room until all of the stars were announced. He’s a class act off the ice.

It appeared he was in tears after the game and if not...crazy emotional.

He's a great kid but definitely puts a lot on his shoulders. 50 shots tonight and we only mustered 2 goals. Conversely, he stopped 29 of 32 and we still came up short.

The last games this season are meaningless. Butler needs to award the bottom two lines with top minutes. All season Artichuk, Messier, McDonald, Smith all show up to play every shift, yet the rest of the lines don’t follow suit. With Gilmartin’s undisciplined play, he needs to send a message to the team and set the tone for what the next seasons expectations entail. Try to take the easy way? We’ll find someone who works hard each shift.

I know a lot depends on who we draft, but what are your early thoughts about who we keep and who we don’t as far as overagers go next season.

Bressette: definitely keep

Kulakov/Johnston: May need to keep both unless we acquire a big defenseman who can step in right away. If we could only keep one, I would say Kulakov due to his physicality, especially if Molnar comes back.

Saganiuk/Gilmartin: Both these guys could be out. I really like Saganiuk, but with Bressette back, Spence, Terrance, Femis, Alfano along with improving Smith and McDonald, and a likely top forward in the draft, I could see Saganiuk and Gilmartin getting dealt. Who knows whether Molnar will be back too.

I like Kulakov, but no way do you waste an overage spot on an import. Especially since we'll have the 4th overall pick in the CHL import draft.

I think a lot depends on how Henry, Holomego, and others develop. Is Cameron Lowe still with us as he seems to be having quite the season in juniors. Holomego looked very timid in his limited time so I give Ty Henry the edge here even though he is the smaller guy.

I'm most interested in the goalie situation. Have we seen the last of Lalonde?

Right now I have coming back 100% unless they choose to leave or get traded...

Offense:
Spence, Bressette, Terrance, Fimis, Molnar, Alfano, McDonald, Artichuk, and Messier as locks.
Edwards, Lowe, and Smith as bubble players with Lowe and Smith ahead of Edwards.
Saganiuk and Gilmartin in consideration for OA.

Defense:
Sova, Daviault, Albloim, Sauder, Henry as locks
Holomego is a bubble player.
Kulakov and Johnston in consideration for OA.

OA...I have Bressette as the only safe OA right now.

I'd switch Smith and Messier, but otherwise I agree with this. I think we've seen the last of Lowe.

As far as someone commented earlier about US prospects...

LJ Mooney 5'7 and 146
Cooper Dennis - 5'5 and 141

Two of the top 3 rated US Born players need to put on some height otherwise we are drafting small and crafty which we had plenty of.

Henry may be smaller than Holomego but he’s still 6’2”. Listed as, anyway.

Gilmartin must really want out of Erie. Stupid penalty on the 4 on 4.

Not that it means much or anything at all, but it was interesting that he billets alone. I always thought they tried to atleast billet in pairs.

What’s frustrating is every game we lose a key player to some BS call that ends up being overturned. Morton, Gilmartin, and now Fimis. I’m sure there’s others but come on. The ref job has been subpar.

That’s not why we lost tonight, but it’s frustrating.

I wouldn’t say this here if you guys were still big fans of his but….in good news for USA Hockey, Dave Brown will head Hockey Canada’s U-17 Program next year. With any luck for us Americans, that should put Hockey Canada in a 5 or 6 year rebuild.

I have a huge feeling Butler will take over the HC and GM position next year.

Fimis not in the lineup tonight. Possible pending suspension that didn’t make it on the media notes?

You keep mentioning this like either A you know something and/or B you think this will somehow justify bringing him in. Whether SB is a GM or head coach, imo he’s the wrong guy for the job. At best he’s average and outdated.

DB hired SB as a friend, as an ally, and as a cheap/easy hire. DB didn’t hire him to replace himself unless DB is ready for something different and plans to move on. But he certainly hasn’t talked like that

Kulakov is out with a concussion. He was staggering down the hallway at the end of the last game.
