The last smurf team was much better
Like I have said 1 cup in 20 years is bad
1 cup in 73 is disgracefull

Delzotto has worn out his welcome here, he was garbage today

He's been garbage a lot.

He looked good in the beginning of the season but sure enough DelZaster came roaring back with a vengeance.

Trade him or Girardi for a forward. When MDZ is bad, he is BAD.

Girardi is excellent - how much more could he improve?

He has a lot of wear and tear and it is showing. Maybe with a good rest and a change in the system next year he can play to his full potential more consistently.

Not giradi. Most definitely mdz..played with head up his butt most of the time and he is not really that good. Most likely a flash in the pan. Get something for him while he still has value

Flash in the pan? What? Del Zotto is not a bad player at all. Stop with your ridiculous hyperbole.

You clearly are not thinking about that little thing called the "salary cap." Girardi is going to command pretty big money as a UFA. Del Zotto is still cost-controllable. Girardi has a LOL Star game appearance and is generally considered a very good d-man (which he is). He's going to cost 5+M to keep. Maybe even bordering 6M.

i dont care what anyone says McILrath should have played over Hamrlik.. heck Bruins had 3 rookies in their lineup on defense.. this shows the trust NYR has in their younger players.. Hamrlik has not been good since he left the Islanders.. McIlrath could have handled some of the bigger Bruins forwards. maybe it would have made a little difference.

Mcilrath couldn't have played any worse than Hamrlik or MDZ

No.

McIlrath needs to get a hard look next season. But I think its unbelievably unfair to throw a kid, who hasn't played a single NHL game, to the wolves. Especially a Dman.

I am actually going to agree with JOrts on this one, BB. I would have liked to have seen Mac get a chance. Look, Torts was given four bad options.

A rookie with no experience, Hamr, GiLOLroy, and he-who-shall-not-be-named. He went with his gut and picked Hamr. But I would have liked to have seen Mac get the call tonight. I mean, it is what it is and I can not fault Torts for the decision at all.

But hindsight is always 20/20.

i agree... Bruins had 3 rookies. Rangers couldnt give McIlrath a look... heck id rather have Gilroy or Bickel over Hamrlik.. im glad Hammer wont be back :yo: UFA at seasons end

Give me Byfuglien or give me death!

he would ask for a trade in the first 30 minutes of torts training camp hahaha, he is a player that does not come to camp in shape from what I have heard...and torts is not going anywhere, ask any Ranger reporter and his job is safe.

Look, I hate John Tortorella. But that is the last thing I am going to get on him about.

My jaw just dropped.

Are you seriously saying he should've played ****ing BICKEL tonight?

Are you seriously saying he should've played GILROY in Boston where Lucic would rip his head off and crap down his neck?

Look, Torts made a choice, but he made the same one I would have. Hamr should have been the least bad of three bad choices.

I would have chosen Hamrlik over Bickel and Gilroy, too. I said a special prayer before this game, praying that Hamrlik will just be adequate.
The way he played on that go ahead goal, wow, just so sad.
But, that's what it is when you have Staal and Stralman out. I don't blame Tortorella. I do laugh at how Hamrlik conducted himself on that specific play, and wish that I did not have to witness such incredibly bad play.

Well, certain posters here have an all-or-nothing take with what I and others say. If I say that Hank had a bad game, I am instantly a hater and blaming World War II on him.

How many goaltenders currently playing would you want in the nets ahead of the Lundqvist of this year's playoffs?

I'm not disappointed at all. We were beat in every facet possible by a vastly superior team.
Del zotto was gutless out there. Refused to pay the physical price resulting in countless turnovers. Can't teach what he lacks and I want him gone.
Can't bring this group back as is. I was high on clowe then I watched him skate hope we get him at about 3.5 he's not worth 5.

One cup since I began following them in 1968. Powerplay at 8% and PK at 75% Completely and totally unacceptable. Here is their grade for this year: FAIL. Coaching: FAIL: GM: FAIL (see Roman Hamrlik).

Our top 6 D are pretty good when healthy with McD, Staal, G, Stralman, Moore and MDZ. Problem is when more than one guy goes down we are forced to use weak 7-10D. I think McIlrath will be ready to be a 7/8 guy next season.

I don't think we should buy our Richards just yet (next season maybe) so our centre depth isn't horrible with Steps, Brass, Richards and Boyle (Boyle is a 4C in the regular season, 3C in the playoffs but for some reason he cant do it in the regular season) Our winger depth if we resign MZA (100% should) and Clowe (I would, not sure if others would) is Nash, Cally, MZA, Hags, Kreider, Clowe and then the 4th line, isn't bad but for it to work we would need a coach who plays offence not a 6 goalie system.

Torts system worked well in 11/12 because he had his foot soldiers like Prust, Duby and Feds, but this team doesnt have that same gumption, and they need a more free wheeling offensive system

Girardi was half of the pair that shut down a red hot Ovechkin. Vs. the Bruins he was fine. He had that horrible game 3, but that was the only bad game i've seen from him this playoff. What else do people want?

I don't feel like Del Zoto deserves another chance. Dumb like that is just not fixable imo.

But the Kreider part. No. Torts doesn't need to develop him. Torts needs to go bye bye and a coach who understands offense and modern hockey systems needs to develop Kreider.

I also think MDZ would benefit from a coaching change. He's a talent that plays a bit scared of making mistakes. And when he plays like that, he plays so tight, that if he had a lump of coal in his ***, by the end of the game it would be a diamond.

Moore does make him expendable though.
