What I would do.

1) Re-sign our RFA's.
-McDonagh
-Hagelin
-Stepan
-Zuccarello

2)Let UFA's walk.
-Clowe
-Hamrlik
-Eminger
-Gilroy

3)Amnesty Buyout.
-Richards

4)Stay away from everything in this Free Agent Market

That would leave us with...

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Zuccarello - Brassard - Callahan
Kreider - Boyle - Dorsett
Pyatt - Powe - Asham

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Stralman
Del Zotto - Moore

Henrik
Biron

Then let the young guys in our organization push some of the fringe older guys out of the lineup in training camp. (JT Miller, Lindberg, etc)

Not bad.

No F/A's out there worth signing in your opinion?

We need to cut down on the plugs. Only one of Pyatt, Powe, Dorsett, Newbury, and Haley should play on a given night. I want to see kids like Lindberg, Fast, Hrivik, and Thomas given long looks in camp. Miller probably needs more time in the AHL. I really hope they let Clowe walk. He's on the downside. Richards should obviously be amnestied. I'd like to break camp with a lineup like this:

Centers: Stepan, Brassard, Lindberg, Boyle

Wings: Nash, Callahan, Kreider, Zuccarello, Hrivik, one of Fast/Thomas, Hagelin (yes, I'm relegating him to the fourth line), and one of Dorsett/Pyatt/Powe

Defense: Staal, McDonagh, Girardi, Stralman, Moore, Del Zotto (I'd like to deal him but I don't know how we can do that until we see Staal healthy). Keep Eminger as the seventh D. He has been good in that role.

I am happy I don't have to mute the tv and listen to the radio broadcast that is behind by a couple minutes...NBC I continue to realize is horrendous!!! and I am so glad I don't have to see or hear nbc again...I will do all I can to find a way to watch TSN feeds over NBC next season.

I am looking forward to the offseason, I don't want to see many changes, but a couple tweaks will make me happy, and I think Richards is bought out....

also, horrible officiating!!!

and I don't want to win a cup in a shortened season...its just not the same.

Right now I'm fuming. I'm re posting what I posted in the NBC thread.

Are the Boston Announcers Retiring or being fired? Tonight's game sounded like the audition. In all my years watching Hockey, I've never heard the opposing teams homer announcers sound this homer.

A disgrace from beginning to end.

This wasn't an up and down season. It was mostly a down season. The only up was making the playoffs and somehow getting out of the first round. Aside from that, this has been a pathetic season and I honestly think I saw more effort from the 2009-10 team.

Thanks to all the great posters here... Another season in the books.

Ultimately lack of depth caught with them....#1 reason teams don't advance

And what has Tortorella done lately? Or the other coaching candidates available out there? The Sabres were an offensive powerhouse right after the lockout with pieces similar to what we have now. Actually, I'd say we have a better team now than the 05-06/06-07 Sabres.

What has he done lately? Last year was the best year for this franchise in decades. This year, his team made it to the second round while missing #1 Dman, #1 Center, top 6 winger, bottom 6 PKer, and then #4 Dman for the last two games. What has Ruff done lately? Get fired and coach teams that haven't made it past the first round since 2006. Torts isn't perfect, but he shouldn't be replaced just for the sake of it.

I honestly don't ever remember being more at ease with a season ending. Team was abysmal to watch for 90% of the year and quite honestly a majority of personnel on this team just flat out sucks. All you have to do is watch other teams for 5 minutes and see how nice they pass the pucks and how many chances they create then go back and watch the rangers and see how pathetic their offense looks. I said it even as the rangers were coming back against Washington...I grew a hatred for a bunch of players on this team. Hopefully changes are made because if I have to come back in October with basically the same roster I don't know if I can do it.

You're out of your mind if you think that! We have overachieved the last two years.

IF av can be fired for same old same old, then Torts can be fired for the same

Would u guys be interested in a david booth for richards type deal? .

Booth has shown solid skill but is hurt a bit 2 often, richards has struggled hard. Both could use a new home.

Also you would lose that richards contract.

I was hoping the Lundqvist that showed up in Games 6 and 7 of the Washington Series would show up. It was not meant to be. I still don't think Lundqvist has showed well in playoffs for the most part. He makes great saves but lets in goals that he shouldn't . He is still one of the better goalies. The team overall was outplayed by Boston.

Pyatt(tough on boards), Brassard(playmaker), McDonough(the BEST), Girardi (warrior), Kreider(Boston Series), Boyle (face offs, toughness) and Hagelin (speed, making plays) impressed me in these playoffs.

We need to fix the Power play. Bad coaching, we have talent but poor setups and breakouts. Why is it that we don't take one-timer shots. How many times did a D man get the pick at the point wait, them shoot when a defender is in front of them, puck turned over.

I would have liked to see Richards in this game, we needed offense. Not that he did much in the PO's but maybe a benching inspires him.

hank was great. game 1 he was an average nhl goalie. game 2 girardi scored 5 goals on him. game 3 he was the only guy who showed up. game 4 he was great, the pk was just complete ****. game 5 the whole team left him out to dry.

pyatt was mediocre in the playoffs as opposed to being bad in the regular season. brass is amazing. mcd is a beast. girardi ****ing sucked. kreider played very well in both series. boyle was ok. hags was good.

pp is a disgrace something needs to be done.

nope he earned exactly what he got

yes and no. i would love a richards for booth trade, but with the new rules if brad retires we are ****ed

After the roster shakeup last summer, I never really had a strong feeling that this year was our year. It takes awhile to develop team chemistry, and I was unsure if Nash was capable of leading this team offensively in the playoffs considering he had barely any postseason experience. Continuity and familiarity with one's teammates is important - Boston has largely the same team they had two years ago when they won the cup.

With so much turnover in the offseason, at the very least Sather could have addressed some issues that haunted us during last year's playoffs: the lack of a capable 4th line and defensive depth. Those problem areas combined with an anemic offense are what burns us in the playoffs every year.

The Rangers were abnormally bad at holding the lead in the Boston series. For most of the season I felt confident when the Rangers would get a lead but in this series you just had the feeling they would blow the leads.

I don't really see that Booth has much upside for the Rangers.

Additionally, the CBA as structured makes it hard for NYR to do anything at all but buy Richards out and absolve themselves of all risk.

I really like the kids we got for Gaborik. Brassard is at worst a 2C in this league, Moore looks like he can develop into a top defenseman, and Dorsett is a great middleweight with some skills. Plus we got 7.5 mil off the roster to sign an UFA.

I also think we have some good young talent on the team. The problem this year was the bottom 6 is at best ECHL quality. Maybe Boyle has some usefulness on the 4th line and the PK and in front of the net on the power play, but otherwise, he's a black hole on offense.

Pyatt, Clowe, Haley and the rest of the plugs are useless. Also, we need to trade Del Zotto. He's just never going to reach his potential on this team with Tortorella. He was a disaster in this series. Can't blame Hamrlik, he's Medicare age.

Have never seen him, but I have high hopes for McIlrath. Frankly, we need someone who puts some feaqr into the other team - I'm tired of Lucic trying to run our smaller players like Stralman.

Finally, I doubt it will happen, but like so many of you, we need to get rid of this coaching staff. We have lots of talent and Lundqvist, this boring dump and chase, play 6 goalie system and pray we win 2-1 absolutely stinks.

I pretty much agree with this. But unless we can cure the power play we're still going to need to find a way to score more often.

I Love you New York Rangers...Good try...what can ya do...Always room for improvement...We'll get em next year...Till then......LGR!!!!!!!!!!

I liked seeing Kreider flatten Seidenberg on a regular basis. Hopefully, he's beginning to realize that he's 6'3", 220 and strong as a bull, and that when he hits people, they go flying, not him.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but, I like Callahan and Hagelin as players when they remember what makes them successful. Give me a Hagelin/Boyle/Callahan 3rd line, a Kreider.Stepan/Nash line, and Brassard centering a 2nd line. The problem becomes configuring that Brassard line. Brass and Zucc showed some chemistry, so maybe you bring back Clowe, and go with Clowe/Brass/Zucc? As for the 4th line, that's where Dorsett belongs.

As for the D, I am hesitant to part with MDZ until I know what going on with Staal. They still need to bring in a veteran RH D-man for depth purposes. And, I'd like to see McIlrath get a long look in camp.

There is no fire in this team whatsoever. Detroit wants it. They're up 3-1 on "give them the Cup already" Chicago. They are playing like it's a Stanley Cup playoff game. We looked like we're playing a beer league regular season game that is totally unimportant. I really wanted John Scott or Steve Ott at the deadline, because they fire up the team and are locker room leaders.

I agree with everything you said in here. I'm getting sick of the people that try and convince me Callahan is a true 2nd liner. Dude's best fit is on the 3rd line.
