Speculation: 2025 TDL Discussion

Saw the reports that Jared McCann might be available from Seattle - could be an interesting target.

Not a right shot but a very good scorer who can play both C and LW. 28 years old and signed for 2 more seasons at a very reasonable $5m cap hit.

McCann - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Byfield - Laferriere

Then if he doesn't fit with Kopi and Kempe you could swap him and Byfield potentially because he has that ability to play center too.

Not sure what the price would be but at least he wouldn't be a rental and he's a proven top 6 goal scorer.

It would probably cost us a 1st + Greentree.

That's a lot to give up for a team that probably has no chance of contending.

If Blake makes the second round he'll get a ten year extension. What trade out there makes Blake think he can get to round 2?

I like McCann but the Kings aren't in the right franchise cycle to pick him up I reckon. I wanted them to go after Stephenson when he was available as a free agent but no dice. Both guys can play C or wing, we definitely need the help and interchangeability down the middle. Either guy would've been a decent pickup, although I'm thinking McCann's value is high right now so we'd be giving up something decent in return. Could also see other teams getting in a bidding war over him.

Josh Anderson would be the most Kongs pick up imaginable (derogatory).

He has a $5.5m cap hit (!!!!!) for this season and the next two seasons and he's on pace for 26 points this year.

Like 6 years ago he put up a 27 goal, 47 point season but other than that he's been consistently a ~30 point forward.

Unless the price is dirt cheap and MTL is retaining 50%, it's a terrible use of assets and cap space.

Kings need a top 6 scorer, not an overpaid bottom 6er.

I'd rather overpay for a legit top 6 winger than acquire a forward like Anderson.

Rakell being good isn't an issue

Rakell being healthy and consistent is an issue

I've said before I like him as a target but he's not without risk

But as far as guys who can perform and be good on the PP, please give me Rakell > others >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Palmieri
