A bit better in game 3, created a tad more, drew another penalty, still a long way to go but some progress I guess.

With the way many on this site go on, you'd think we were talking about a struggling child who's "trying real hard" and just needs a little "moral support" to help win Student of the Month – not a highly-paid millionaire athlete who is failing to live up to his organization/fanbase's professional expectations. People can make their jokes and scoff at any notion of criticism but fans are justified in being both worried and angry.

I've seen injuries and I've seen slumps but this is unlike anything I've witnessed in recent memory from a star-level player.

He wasn't 'good' against TB but he did show a pulse in the last two periods and actually went to the net for a couple decent chances in hard/high percentage areas, even if he totally whiffed on them, which was positive to see.

That's more than you can say for most of his games for a very long time.

Just the fact that that’s an improvement for a player making 11.6m is incredibly depressing.

He is making $11.6 million dollars. $141,000 per game, which is double what the average college educated person in Canada makes in a single year.

At some point, enough is enough. You can't just look good out there, you have to f***ing produce. This has been going on for nearly a half season's worth of games, including throughout a run where this team should have had a legitimate chance to win a Stanley Cup.

They do not have the ELC talent to make up for his plummet off a cliff. He was a problem at $7 million the way he's been playing...at $11.6 million, he has one of the worst value contracts in the entire NHL.

The funny thing is that he gets a ton of criticism for falling down but he's drawn so many penalties by falling down.

You'd otherwise think he's the biggest flopper in the league.

But how much per minute is he making? Per second? Per millisecond? Per 2nd assist? What's the multiple he's earning over an apprentice plumber?

Yes he's paid well and needs to perform but this is just silly.

Why do Foote and Toch love Juulsen so much? He’s always been a disaster
Juulsen was ok last year, go read this board's thoughts on him during the regular season last year. People actually felt bad that he was the #7 healthy scratch dman after Zadorov was acquired lol.

But the underlying stats have never been kind to him.

I think mine is relevant, but yeah if you want to go deeper than that it's no different than splitting atoms.

Lets hope he starts to produce more.

Ridiculously overpaid. You’d think after the terrible playoff performance and the new monstrous contract he’d come into camp with 7-8 pounds of added muscle guns, best shape of his life, full guns blazing & lighting up the league. Want to be paid as a top 5 player, play like a top 5 player, slumping ok play like a top 10 player, he’s not even playing like a top 50 player which is concerning.

His Knee might still be a problem? He did mention it right before the season started. Nothing else makes sense

Agreed, those are the kinds of expectations we should be having for all our players, but especially our stars.

The 2011 team had the Sedins leveling up by putting in the work, Burrows did the same, Edler, Kesler etc.

The new-ish teams: Horvat put in the reps to fix issues with his skating, Miller leveled up, Hughes has clearly put in time to fix issues and improve, etc etc.

These are gamers that want to be better and are being held to the highest standards (as they should).

But what I don't get is why people seem to be so protective of Petey. He's a f***ing game breaker level talent, he should be pushing himself and others to a higher standard but it sure doesn't seem like that's the case at all.

His on ice performance for the last few months has been abysmal, doubly so because of the new contract. If he's badly injured, he needs to do the right thing for his future and sit out and heal, life is too short to f*** around with your body.

If he's good enough to play then he needs to be judged at the level of star player that he is, no?

We all (ok, most of us lol) want him to succeed as a Canuck, so what's wrong with holding him to a high standard and voicing our issues with his lack of performance? I don't get it.

Post like this are so annoying. You rather make up a story and try to call out his mental health vs believing him about his knee.
You see him limp? Favour turning only one way? Pushing more with one leg than the other? Wearing a brace?
Well his knee injury was a surprise to Tocchet and Allvin, trainers and doctors too.

Unless you really think Tocchet knew he had a knee injury and berated him for not skating fast enough? And nobody called it tendonitis except Dr. Tocchet.

The Canucks have a reputation for struggling with injury diagnosis and timelines. When a player expresses that something is bothering them and their performance has declined, I believe them.
