Confirmed with Link: [EDM/CAR] Jesse Puljujarvi for Patrik Puistola

Bouchard will get 50+ points next year on the PP, then they can opt to sell way higher on him or just keep him.

Jesse had his chances to make it work here, I mean he got to play with McDavid (again and again and again), Draisaitl, RNH, Hyman, etc. etc. etc. He could never make it work. He made the decision, if anything Holland let this whole thing drag on for twice as long as any other GM would have.

Yamamoto is not going last long here either (maybe not even until the end of the deadline). If he stays he better start producing here or he's a goner too probably in the summer at the latest.

Moral of the story is: The Oilers should stop drafting any prospect that has "Jarvi" in their last name. If Chiarelli took Tkachuk instead of Puljujarvi, he probably still has a job here.

Chiarelli was trying to get fired at the end. Drafting Jesse was the least of his mistakes.

Torn on this trade. No doubt that JP's potential was greatly trashed by TMac and some of the other factors in that whole situation.

On the other side, however, some people have apparently forgotten that JP really isn't a rookie anymore. He was in the organization for almost 7 years; this isn't a case of giving up on a guy too soon (Andrew Cogliano). Factor in all the drama with his agent, and this was for the best.

Jukurit season ends next week. Is there any chance Puistola joins either the Oilers or Condors or was he just acquired on paper?

In JP's first NHL games he was given a top 6 role immediately. He followed that up by making not just bad plays, but complete head scratchers like the infamous slap pass and sniping Maroon in the neck from 1.5' away.

Tmac then put him on the 3rd line so he can work on holding onto pucks longer rather than looking to just throw it to the better guys all the time

Literally coaching 101. Start him with talent to gain confidence. When that didn't stick, coach tells him to play more selfish. That didn't work

Then during the course of that season, and right after, it was stated several times by coach and GM that his communication was indeed a problem, in his case

He came back after that summer and in his first interview with our local media, he flat out told us that he didn't work on his language skills

But ya, TMac "greatly trashed" that whole situation. Puleeeeeease

I think Jesse might get it together in Carolina. I give it a 25% chance he figures it out. Sucks it didn’t work out but he was done here (probably 1-2 years ago). Good luck to him

Imho Carolina is the best place in the league for him.
He has worked at his English but has struggled so going to such a Finn heavy team with friends might put him in the right mood to succeed. And if not, always Finland.

This guy doesn't seem to realize Oilers were desperate to create cap space and bring in a player of higher impact. Holland better not fk this up now that he has some decent cap space to work with. Find Yams a new home too while he's at it.

Typical nerd who watches games via Excel than in person. His fancy charts are worth less than used toilet paper.

On many other teams Pulju is a thirdliner. Coach here made him a limited minutes 4th liner. The player was drastically misused under Woody and was much better utilized by Tippett and with demonstrably better commensurate results.

I don't think its likely at all we move Yama. Coach loves him. Thats the tea leaves I'm reading. Nah, we're stuck with Yama. We WOULD have to buyback that contract and we can't. I mean who would take Yamamoto at 3.1M and term? That would require bigger idiot theory.
His boxscoring is alright. I think its 0,33p/game. You dont need to say he played with McDavid or Draisaitl.
He should though be showcased as a 3rd liner.

Let’s be honest…this trade is Puljujarvi for the cap space. It’s extremely unlikely Puistola ever plays in the NHL.

I wish Jesse well and will miss his boyish style.
Doesn't Puistola become a UFA if he isn't signed by July. Not sure if he was just a contract coming back or will Holland sign him.

It feels like an overdue breakup in a bad relationship. Actually you don't care much if the other one does well or not, you just know it's for the best for yourself (the Oilers).
