I like how all the trade headlines are the Oilers traded Pulju for Pisstool from Carolina. As if we've traded for an actual NHL player. How much do the Oil pay for this kind of windowdressing. The player is not playing for Carolina and hasn't played a game there. I don't know the player has ever even visited there lol. For sure I've never heard of him.

So that we trade a top in hits team guy, actual NHL player, for a smurf that likely never even see's an NHL jersey and is playing for some nondescript team in Finland hardly anybody has heard of. Surprised they managed to find a photo..;)
The return means nothing. It was Pulju for $3M cap space which is a steal for the Oilers right now IF Holland parlays that into an impact Dman. If it's to add a mid level guy like Gavrikov then what was the point?

Couldnt agree more.
The fact that Holland was able to move a $3M 4th liner for a prospect was some fine work on his part.

Puljujarvi at this point in his career is like a less productive Brad Isbister. Has the size and some of the tools, you're just praying that he'll put it together at some point. Will be interesting to see if he re-signs in Carolina (I'm assuming he will) and for how much.

You're probably right. I did say I was just having trouble with this today, and theres other stuff I can't mention. We all have our moments. Ultimately it matters what occurs with the space. I'm not feeling it today, as I've stated.

Can people wait and see what other trades get made between now and the trade deadline before we assess the impact of this deal?

Of all the posts I have ever made, this one has aged the best...

Seriously, how can anyone hate this guy.
I genuinely wish he does well in Carolina, just hope we don't meet in the finals
Same. Some oiler fans today with these two trades are giving ammo to the fans who say we are some of the worst on this site.
With Jesse it just did not work out. We should hope the best for him

Essentially we got nothing for him. Its a straight up cap dump of a player that was coming off the books anyway. We got a guy that has never played an NHL game and maybe never will. Not sure if Holland even checked out willingness to come to NA box.
He was always going to be that with the season he's had. They shhould have moved him last summer when he was coming off a 37 point season and did not have contract. Maybe could have gotten a 2nd round pick or a decent prospect.

I don't know about this. Pulju had 112 hits this season on limited minutes being the top hitter on the club on a team that doesn't hit nearly enough. He was physical to play with and on the forecheck. The Oilers physically got weaker today and they're weak physically to begin with. Doesn't bode well for playoffs.
I’d disagree we got weaker overall. Ekholm is a Viking and will play well over 20 minutes a night. Vinny another giant will also see his role increased. Up front I’ll miss Jesses presence but it’s the price you pay. We gained cap and now possibly get someone significantly better.

Oil has decided to go with Bouchard and Yamamoto instead of Puljujärvi and Barrie. We'll see how this goes.

Something tells me that JP is going to fit like a glove for the Canes. This seems like a win-win trade for both teams. Hope Ken keeps buzzin today and until the deadline!
This is a gamble from Carolina. My bet he will be the exact same as in oilers, but with more reammates. Some good forechecking, confused reads, fumbling with the puck at scoring chances, loosing balance. But may be better following the finns in the play. He will probably do a 3rd line with kotkaniemi.
