Verbeek “ the little ball of hate” has to be pissed, because we were bullied in philly too. This happening so close together, like WTF is happening
I had to come and reiterate what many are saying here. yeah, sucks we lost... but I'm maybe more pissed that there was no response to that crap at the end of the game. Some of that is on the players, but I'll blame Cronin for that last bit, with him icing our best figure skaters.
Zegras's return has shown the impact on forward can have on a team. He brings offense and creativity sure, but he also moves other players around in the lineup. It helps balance out the lines and give guys different matchups. Special teams shift as does ice time. The ripple effect of one top 6 forward is huge and impacts the entire team.
It also reinforces the pursuit of a top six scoring winger. That additional offense plus how it affects others is needed to help take another step forward. If the Ducks could have scored on one of their power plays, they whole game changes.

I guess this makes sense overall for that game. The Carlsson line was decent but not great or anything. They were still playing low event hockey. Everyone else was pretty bad.
If I were to make a bet on it, I'd say last season's crusade by the refs against us, Greg is probably coaching them not to retaliate and invite that same attention back to the team. Not that I agree with it but it's the only thing that makes sense to me.
