Barkov's goal should have been stopped.

Samsonov has played well this year.

But getting outplayed by Bobrovski is what SHOULD be happening, considering Samsonov is a $1.8 million salary cap hit and Bobrovski is a $10.0 million salary cap hit.

When the salary cap hit difference is this big, then the team with the $10.0 million salary cap hit 100% needs to have their goaltender significantly and noticeably outplay the $1.8 million goaltender on the other end of the rink.

Florida has 0% chance of winning this series if their $10.0 million goaltender is outplayed by the other team's $1.8 million goaltender.
So if the Pathers reduced their roster by 8.9 million dollars then the Leafs would have a chance. Got it.

Not saying that.

But when you are paying your goaltender $8.2 million more than your opponent's goaltender, then you had better be getting superior goaltender play.

Otherwise, why not just have a bargain-bin goaltender and use the $8.2 million on another 70-90 point scorer or top-pairing defensemen?

Florida needs Bobrovsky to significantly and noticeably outplay Samsonov, and force Toronto's roster stars to outplay Florida's stars.

The biggest factor will be whether penalties continue to favour the Leafs 3-1. If the penalties become more even I like Floridas chances.
The Panthers game plan appears to be to play on the edge or just over, knowing the officials won't call everything...it's working. Given their plan, there is no way the calls can be equal.

Boy, I just read this last page, but I can't tell you how disappointed I am in the discussion lol..

Here, I'll fix it. In this coming video, the little fish represent teams trying to sign AM out of T.O., and the big one represents the Leafs signing him.

Let's be real here.

the statistics i saw yesterday was like 12.7%. and they lost 2 at home so it's probably worse.
No, that is wrong. 20% of teams who lose the first two at home win the series. The reason it is higher for teams who lose the first two at home is because they are the favored and higher ranked teams. It's approximately 11% for teams who lose the first two on the road.

It is unfortunate for Toronto that Bobrovsky finds his game exactly now…

The Panthers were great last year, and Tkachuk is a major upgrade vs Huberdeau. Montour is completely new player and Bobrovsky is starting to look like his old self.

They had a difficult start to the regular season but improved throughout the year. I don‘t know why everyone was so sure that the Leafs advance in this series.

Toronto lost 2x at home when you have the last line change. Toronto has the inferior goalie… i didn‘t like their zone entries…

All in all, I don‘t see the Leafs advancing. I am very sad for the city of Toronto because it is a great hockey city.
This thing is over, too bad they really can’t see it yet. No way Toronto wins 4 out of 5 games with Bob on fire!!

I second this. Toronto is gonna come out Sunday with their backs against the wall. Even if we win that one I’m still wary.
We should only be talking if we actually finish this off.
Florida is going to beat them easily next game. Stick a fork into it. Toronto is not a playoff team, they’re just too soft and their star players have a habit of disappearing in the playoffs.

And if Bob reverts back to his old ways, the series could go off the rails rather quickly. FLA also take a lot of penalties, don't be surprised if TOR wins the next two. The core are the reason they made it to the 2nd round, and will be the reason why they will tie this thing up - it's going 7 games.

Florida takes a lot of penalties because the refs in this series are a joke. So one sided and Florida still stole 2 games. Imagine in Florida if the crooked refs call penalties on the Leafs. All you Leaf fans hoping Bob goes away, cmon man Bob is going to light them up the rest of this series. Toronto just don’t have it to make a run.

Hits are 89 to 84, and the Leafs have 56 takeaways/panthers giveaways compared to the Panthers 48 takeaways/leafs giveaways. The difference has been Bobrovsky. The Leafs have outplayed the Panthers 4 of 6 periods. Difference has just been Bobrovsky shut the door while Samsonov has let in a goal each game he should've had.

That isn't taking anything away from Florida. They are a good team and Tkachuk is a player every team would want.

But we don't need to make up falsehoods to explain the series any more than what it is.

Toronto went into Tampa Bay and won both, and they can do the same thing in Sunrise. They won both games in Florida this season.
You can thank Samsonov the first 2 games that the Leaf’s weren’t a total embarrassment. He has actually saved their butts with some of those saves.

Show your work then. Because @pnep has never posted inaccurate figures in the 15 years I've known him here.
I concede if you can show proof and statical data.

I was going on memory of statistics I saw at some point over the last 10-15 years. Not 100% exact.

It does show the overall result is close to 15%, which I stated.:)

But I do see that the winning % is somewhere in the 10% to 20% range.

I personally think Toronto has a very good chance for the remainder of the series.

Let's see what happens.

Big problem for Leafs are their butter soft core Matthews, Marner and Tavares looks like they don't want to be there. Nylander looks amazing he could've had 3-4 points

I think the main problems are (and the first one is the one they can do something about) :

* To cute play in dangerous areas where a lost puck can lead to an easy goal for the opponents (this is more or less exactly what the experts said in the studio so it's not just my opinion)

* The defensive players are a problem, maybe not so much the first/second one but the third seems to have a lot of problems with Florida

* Samsonov gave up some easy goals, he is not on top of his game, while the other goalie was superb

PS Also they had bad luck hitting the posts etc
