Your bar has to be so low for one single playoff series win to be a great accomplishment. I swear Nashville hung a banner for it though didn’t they? Or was that for a conference final appearance?
Couldn’t say since I don’t follow the Preds that closely but we did hang up a banner for an accomplishment in the STL… 2019 iirc :).

They've been in like 47 playoffs games since 2016. They aren't exactly suffering.
Fans/Americans just seem to make anything a negative unless it's a cup in hand.
What’s the goal of the playoffs again?

Im saying that saying they suck is ridiculous overkill. And when you've been to as many Finals as they have between 1940s and 60s.
You aren't going back for a while. As history has shown.

And I've already stated elsewhere. The goal of the playoffs is money. Money, Money, money, money, money etc

Leafs only have until July to trade Matthews unrestricted. After that, he has a full NMC.

It is painfully not working. Success eludes them. Failure is their bedfellow.

The answer...blow it up. Trade the veterans for future picks and prospects. Draft high and do a full rebuild. Create a future contender.
There is 0% chance they trade their best player and most popular player.

I don't think he is leaving as a free agent, either.

Was just looking at the replay of that 3rd goal that resulted from Marner's ill advised pass to Matthews at the defensive blue line and Matthews equally ill advised attempt to chip it out to himself.

Where did Marner go after the pass? bench? He does not appear in the zone after his pass.

Seemed like a comedy of errors on that one, Brodie blows the zone while Matthews is receiving the pass, No 27 (Luostarinen) Fla intercepts Matthews chip shot or whatever that was at the blueline. Matthews and Buntings momentum takes them out of the Zone and only McCabe is still in zone. It develops as a mini 2-1 to Samsonov's left between Luostarinen an Tkachuk. Brodie/Matthews and Bunting all reenter zone and gradually converge on that side where the puck is, Bennett who exited with Marner goes to bench replaced by Lundell who Tkachuk passes too which draws Matthews and Bunting back toward that right point. Meanwhile Forsling enters zone and heads to front of net on other wing with no coverage. Lundell passes back to Tkachuk in the corner and Bunting, McCabe and Matthews all turn and converge on him. Brodie has Luostarinen in front but now Forsling is all alone on the Left wing side and Lundell is pretty much uncovered in the slot. Tkachuk had 2 pass options.

Pretty much 8 seconds between the turnover and the goal, Leafs had time to recover but started puck chasing and Mr selke nominee just bailed after his poor pass.

ESPN talking about who the Panthers match up better against in round 3 lol I am not the only one calling this series toast.
Are they seriously doing that?

If so, that is stupid.

I actually think Toronto still has a good chance to win this series.

Florida would be wise to show some killer instinct in games 3-4, rather than allow Toronto to get back into this.

You have no idea who the GM will be, so 0% is stupid. He easily might leave a failed shitshow.
Toronto will give Matthews a blank cheque.

Then you have the fact that his endorsements in Toronto are going to far exceed anything he may be able to get in another city.

He might have different plans. Not sure endorsements in Toronto is the pull you think it is.

People claim he's a floater that only cares about money and if that's the case he'd make far more here than anywhere else. Plus playing for an O6 team and likely becoming the best player in franchise history would mean a lot to some players. Like it or not the Leafs are still a top team in the league and other than wishful thinking there's been a grand total of zero pieces of evidence indicating that he wants to leave.

He earned $2.3 million in endorsements and had to work. He can make that up in the states with tax accounting, plus its not in Toronto

Ok and he'd make far less if anything in the US in endorsements. The 'plus it's not Toronto' comment proves you don't know what you're talking about.

He'd equal that on Madison Ave. if he wanted to, or just have a team pay him the extra $2 million.

Last year's Panther's team was just wildly overrated, we all knew the cards would crash eventually. This year's team is better built, and a rejuvenated Bob is a difference maker. Nothing surprising about the Lightning's drubbing of the Cats last year.
Didn't last years panthers, win the PC trophy? 82 games with the best overall record, wildy overrated?
So, that was the Bruins this year?

Something seems of eh...........this years team better built? Made the playoffs with 1-2 games left in the season, and were gifted the playoffs, because the Pens choked vs the Hawks....

Anyhow, the Panthers are getting hot at the right time.........that;s for certain.

I think your thinking of the leafs handing out rings for winning the 5 team Norris division.

Nashville likely hung a Western conference championship banner, now that I think of it.
Everyone hangs conference champion banners they hung one for less than that and everyone made fun of them.

I think I found the story

It’s a regular season western conference championship banner lol.
I figured there had to be some teams doing that. There were far too many poster calling for the Leafs to do something like that.

Not sure how Samsonov gets a pass from so many on the 2nd goal. That was awful. You have to save that. He seems like one of those tenders who can make a dozen 10 bell saves, but will then let in the most terrible squeakers at the worst times.
Barkov's goal should have been stopped.

Samsonov has played well this year.

But getting outplayed by Bobrovski is what SHOULD be happening, considering Samsonov is a $1.8 million salary cap hit and Bobrovski is a $10.0 million salary cap hit.

When the salary cap hit difference is this big, then the team with the $10.0 million salary cap hit 100% needs to have their goaltender significantly and noticeably outplay the $1.8 million goaltender on the other end of the rink.

Florida has 0% chance of winning this series if their $10.0 million goaltender is outplayed by the other team's $1.8 million goaltender.
