Jersey lost their first two home games v the Rangers and came storming back to win the series. Game three is pivotal.

The Panthers are halfway through. They have to win 4. Same as everyone else.
I hope your right but I have been a Leaf fan since 1966, and have seen this story play out many times. We are done, the Toronto stars come playoff time disappear. There is this Bob guy that this year decided to light it up on us.

Aren't you a Jets fan?

I have but been so long I dont remember it. that's an early 90s film
To put the record straight I have been a diehard Leaf fan since 1966. I am frustrated with this team because it’s the same excuse every year. We just choke in the playoffs!! Bob decides this year to light it up arrrggghhh. I hope I am wrong I have just lost faith after 2 games.

Was just looking at the replay of that 3rd goal that resulted from Marner's ill advised pass to Matthews at the defensive blue line and Matthews equally ill advised attempt to chip it out to himself.

Where did Marner go after the pass? bench? He does not appear in the zone after his pass.

Seemed like a comedy of errors on that one, Brodie blows the zone while Matthews is receiving the pass, No 27 (Luostarinen) Fla intercepts Matthews chip shot or whatever that was at the blueline. Matthews and Buntings momentum takes them out of the Zone and only McCabe is still in zone. It develops as a mini 2-1 to Samsonov's left between Luostarinen an Tkachuk. Brodie/Matthews and Bunting all reenter zone and gradually converge on that side where the puck is, Bennett who exited with Marner goes to bench replaced by Lundell who Tkachuk passes too which draws Matthews and Bunting back toward that right point. Meanwhile Forsling enters zone and heads to front of net on other wing with no coverage. Lundell passes back to Tkachuk in the corner and Bunting, McCabe and Matthews all turn and converge on him. Brodie has Luostarinen in front but now Forsling is all alone on the Left wing side and Lundell is pretty much uncovered in the slot. Tkachuk had 2 pass options.

Pretty much 8 seconds between the turnover and the goal, Leafs had time to recover but started puck chasing and Mr selke nominee just bailed after his poor pass.

The only difference between this type of defensive play and the ones Florida was making, is that Bob made the saves.

Florida is horrible defensively. Toronto is MUCH better

this team has put us through alot these past 20 years since losing to Philly again in the 2nd round.
dont worry about it yet man, if we lose Game 3 then yeah for sure but its only 2 games, if we lose Game 3 I'm on the same page as you.

also Knies getting hurt isnt the reason we lost Game 2 and it wont be the reason if we lose the series but its a huge loss which is weird to say because he's a rookie who just joined the team. but he's just been so good and brings a piece Toronto has been missing for a long time.

the kid will be fine and will be back later in the playoffs if we can win or atleast next season. I dont think it was bad enough to even think that concussion is a career ender

Not saying that.

But when you are paying your goaltender $8.2 million more than your opponent's goaltender, then you had better be getting superior goaltender play.

Otherwise, why not just have a bargain-bin goaltender and use the $8.2 million on another 70-90 point scorer or top-pairing defensemen?

Florida needs Bobrovsky to significantly and noticeably outplay Samsonov, and force Toronto's roster stars to outplay Florida's stars.
Tell that to Hellybucyk who was outplayed by his understudy Brossoit in the Vegas series.

A lot of people feel the same way.

You gotta have some luck to get through NHL playoffs. The leafs had it in the first round, but it looks like it ran out in the second round so far.

It’s a 7 game series. Leaf fans know, they’ve lost many series where they controlled it right up until the end

He might have different plans. Not sure endorsements in Toronto is the pull you think it is.

I think it might be for Matthews, though

This thing is over, too bad they really can’t see it yet. No way Toronto wins 4 out of 5 games with Bob on fire!!

This is exactly what some posters said about round 1.

For both of the teams playing in the second round right now. It’s not over

Florida takes a lot of penalties because the refs in this series are a joke. So one sided and Florida still stole 2 games. Imagine in Florida if the crooked refs call penalties on the Leafs. All you Leaf fans hoping Bob goes away, cmon man Bob is going to light them up the rest of this series. Toronto just don’t have it to make a run.
Yes, unfortunately we have a segment of fans who capitulate at the first sign of adversity and others who wisu violence. This isn't a Leafs fan thing. People wanted the same with Bunting last round. A minority of them were Lightning fans.

That is not true at all. Florida plays on the edge and sometimes they cross over. Most Panthers fans are ok with it. Of the ones who are not, a slim minority of them are Panthers fans.

Panthers fans have no problem with the penalties called against FL. They just wonder why the Leafs can get away with things like taking Verhaeghe down in front of the net, or a whack (from behind) on Verhaeghe’s hand as he’s going in alone on goal, or Gudas being boarded and slung down to the ice, etc. No problem at all with putting FL in the box when they commit a penalty, just call the game fairly.

What I saw from TOR in the series vs TBL made me convinced they are legit. In game 2 vs FLA, I didn't see quite the same team. Don't get me wrong, IMO Panthers were a bit lucky to hang on the lead in that fashion, but something about TOR seemed just a bit off to me. In my eye-of-the-tiger meter the Panthers were ahead. But I also got the feeling one lucky bounce or greasy goal could've lifted the bag of rocks off the Leafs shoulders, so series is far from over. I'd have the Panthers as the favourite though, they have a 2-0 lead after all and they look like a team that can grind out a win.

Leafs could have won G2. They controlled play and Bobrovsky was incredible, but hey the goalie is part of the team (why the "got goalie'd" discourse only has so much merit). But Tampa could have won G3 or G4 in Round 1. That's the playoffs. I don't think Toronto needs to re-invent the wheel in G3, nor do they have to see their core change the way the play, they just need to avoid the kind of mental lapses that Florida took advantage of in the second period of G2. As usual, we're seeing some silly takes and wide generalizations game-to-game as people try to drop their confirmation bias onto the Leafs. We'll see, Florida has a hot goalie and is playing a style that allows them to take advantage of their skill set.

I concede if you can show proof and statical data.

I was going on memory of statistics I saw at some point over the last 10-15 years. Not 100% exact.

It does show the overall result is close to 15%, which I stated.:)

But I do see that the winning % is somewhere in the 10% to 20% range.

I personally think Toronto has a very good chance for the remainder of the series.

Let's see what happens.
Pnep is all the proof one needs.

The people who complain about evening up the penalties have it comletely backwards. Calling penalties just for the sake of it to even things up is exactly the definition of crooked reffing. The Leafs have been the far more disciplined team in this series.
