The fans were going back and forth chanting for both Florida and Boston. You(not just you to be fair) are falling for a blatantly contrived media narrative that I am sure would be going as well if Boston had of won. It was a bunch of drunk young people gassed up after a series win. I doubt professional athletes need to use that as motivation lol
Well the over-exuberant reactions of the coaching staff and Dubas when they won that game was also pretty comical.

Real shame if Toronto bows out in the 2nd round here. This is it for this core.

The Tavares contract is only going to get worse and worse. Handcuffing the team's cap structure with an albatross contract that is unmovable. The defense core is old and declining.

This was the year. Dubas picked the right moment and went all in at the right time. Made the right moves imo. Loved the ROR deal. There is no reason for this Toronto team to be bowing out in the 2nd round. This is a team that should be competing at the very least in the conference finals.

A long time ago I said to the Oilers fanbase that Hall and Eberle needed to go. Attitude and character matter on a team. A few bad apples can set a terrible precedent in the locker room. If it's all about partying and lambos and models then it's not all about training and winning. You can't have "the guys" setting a culture like that.

I think Auston Matthews needs to go. I think the Leafs are heading for a rebuild if they bow out here in round 2.

Not as comical as leaf haters getting off to Leafs losing every year. Some people make it seem like they’d prefer the leafs lose over their own team win.

Leaf fans and staff have had to endure a lot over the past few years. Let them enjoy something they’ve worked hard for, and anyone who can’t understand why they reacted like that probably lives a very sad life.

This playoff round has things a little different for the Leafs, last year they choked when up 3-2 against Tampa, the year before that they choked when up 3-1 against the Habs, before COVID, they choked when up 3-2 against the Bruins. Before that, they were down 3-1 against the Bruins and forced a game 7 just like they did back in 2013, where in both those game 7's they were winning heading into the 3rd period.

That's why it's hard to predict anything with our Leaf team. The Panthers are just as unpredictable, having won their first playoff round last year since 1996 (after winning the Presidents trophy) only to be swept by a team that struggled to take the Leafs out in 7 games.

The only difference between this type of defensive play and the ones Florida was making, is that Bob made the saves.

Florida is horrible defensively. Toronto is MUCH better
Schenn and McCabe were #6/7's on their original non playoff teams all season, they now play in your top 4

Our D is more than comparable, sorry.

Barkov's goal should have been stopped.

Samsonov has played well this year.

But getting outplayed by Bobrovski is what SHOULD be happening, considering Samsonov is a $1.8 million salary cap hit and Bobrovski is a $10.0 million salary cap hit.

When the salary cap hit difference is this big, then the team with the $10.0 million salary cap hit 100% needs to have their goaltender significantly and noticeably outplay the $1.8 million goaltender on the other end of the rink.

Florida has 0% chance of winning this series if their $10.0 million goaltender is outplayed by the other team's $1.8 million goaltender.

If Sammy outplays bob, that’s really embarassing for the panthers, you’re right

It’s true. Love to watch the leafs lose. It’s why I’m generally a pretty happy guy.

Someone’s mad the Leafs didn’t sweep the Panthers
this series still could turn 180 around. FL better seize the opportunity game3 presents.
From what I’ve seen over the last few years from Leafs fans as FL was getting better and better, The thought of the Panthers being equal to, let alone better than, the Leafs really makes them twitch.

Two boneheaded turnovers in 1 minute were the difference in game 2. Worst part is they had time to make a better play (McCabe and Marner). Such avoidable mistakes.
Not when you spend 82 games a year playing finesse hockey, dangling at the blueline as the last one back. How could they ever play smart playoff hockey when they never practice it.

Leafs fans chanting “we want Florida” was dumb, but even level headed fans were hoping for Florida. Why wouldn’t you? Why wouldn’t any team in the same situation want Florida? Chirping leafs fans for that video is a reach.

Particularly because Florida winning meant Boston losing. Every fan of every team in the east would have had wanted Boston to lose that 1st series, except for maybe TB who, after 3 cup finals would be like "meh, we don't care who we face".

That's really not an accurate representation of their roles on those teams, based on their minutes. Schenn would be best described as a #5 on Vancouver and McCabe a #3 on Chicago.

Neither one of them is a big power play guy so most likely if you were to isolate their even strength minutes (which typically tell a better story of where a player truly falls on the depth chart), it's likely they would show up one spot higher even.

I'm 100% on board with the idea that you shouldn't be just taking a player off of a bad team and expecting him to perform the same role suitably on your own contending team, but the numbers that you are using are unnecessarily exaggerating that point.
