I still can't believe Toronto got through Tampa. Tampa was outplaying Toronto all series long, and lost. Now Toronto is outplaying Florida and is going to lose.

Tampa vs Florida (weird) would have likely been a massacre in favour of the Bolts. Glad I don't have to watch that again.
You gotta have some luck to get through NHL playoffs. The leafs had it in the first round, but it looks like it ran out in the second round so far.

This is why you don't root for matchups, you simply line up and the best team wins over 7 games. Game 3 will be pivotal for both teams chances.

Knocking knies out was a good tactic by Florida. He had chemistry with Matthews and if they had let him continue in the series he might have gotten really dangerous. Better to just cut the head off the snake.

Toronto used up all of their luck in round 1. Florida is similar to Leafs in that they have for years been good but fall well short of the hype. Florida has hope now and Leafs are certainly done (again) .

Definitely cringe, but 20 or so young fans out in the rain chanting something dumb has no bearing on the outcome of the series.
Those 20 kids chanting was a reflection of many leaf fans wanting Florida, including on this board. We are the better team, yes. But we were in no position to be cocky- fans and players alike. We win a round and our fanbase/team were expecting some automatic/magical cup run

I am ready for the parented keefe knee jerk overreaction where he starts Clifford and Simmons’s again one year after embarrassing himself by doing that last playoffs.

To be honest I don’t blame Leaf fans for preferring Florida. I think any team would have preferred them over Boston.
It doesn’t mean that Florida isn’t a really good team either and I don’t see any disrespect for preferring them over Boston.

Even with the first round win, I didn't see a good playoff hockey team in the leafs. Tampa played pretty well considering how many guys they lost to stay under the cap, and also all their defensive injuries, but that Tampa team was not even close to the cup teams. The leafs have some good skill players, but they seem to lack heart and that is more important in the playoffs. The leafs just coast some periods and take periods off, and you just can't do that in the playoffs and expect to win. The Panthers this year seem to be hot at the right time and their heart is in it. Nice story for Panthers fans after barely making the playoffs. Still a long series to close it out though.

No matter what happens, this is the year the Leafs broke the curse. It's a major step forward.
They've been in like 47 playoffs games since 2016. They aren't exactly suffering.
Fans/Americans just seem to make anything a negative unless it's a cup in hand.

Your bar has to be so low for one single playoff series win to be a great accomplishment. I swear Nashville hung a banner for it though didn’t they? Or was that for a conference final appearance?

I think your thinking of the leafs handing out rings for winning the 5 team Norris division.

Nashville likely hung a Western conference championship banner, now that I think of it.

Is Dubas’ job in trouble if Panthers win this series?
Dubas is on an expiring contract. It is just as much up to him as it is the Leafs.

No one thinks it is a great accomplishment, but it is an accomplishment.
