I’ll check that out. I’ve never paid much attention to the trainer report because I don’t think I’ve seen it say anything other than not having long term concerns. Does a different icon show up on the roster screen?
So it the name of science I loaded up the Editor, nerfed Kero's injury proness, strength and stamina into oblivion and then had had him play every second of the game and the little bastard just won't get injured

But generally you will get a result similar to this, when you choose to get a physio report

If he's actually injured and you see that, you will get the option to send him for surgery/ rehab from the player actions menu (or right click menu if you use that)

Yeah i give up trying to injure him. somehow

That’s pretty cool. I don’t know if I recall having an injury recur, maybe because I never bring someone back before I have to.

Just to jump in, I see it most often for stuff related to tears and muscle stuff (like irl). Sometimes I saw concussions being likely to reoccur, but they cant be sent to rehab.

And rehab only works during the injury. If they "heal" without going to rehab, they might still be at risk, but cant be send to rehab until they reinjure themselves.

And i think "reoccurencence" means, if your player had a tore mcl, they might tear it again in the future - you jusr dont know when or the frequency. Not sure if it affects attributes as well, never paid close enough attention.

I usually do send them to rehab, except if its like a star player in the playoffs

There’s an editor?

Lord, where I have been??

At the real risk of seeming an idiot, where would I find this editor?

I will say overall scouting actually seems to be a bit overpowered at times. That's not to say MY scouts won't royall **** up and rate a guy 5* that has like a 120PA, or a give a potential all-star a lower ranking, but generally speaking, in the draft high PA guys get taken early and low PA sometimes go undrafted, regardless of their ranking. This sounds logical obviously, but it goes to an extreme sometimes.

EXAMPLE: A guy playing in like the CZE-5 or some super-low league, most attributes in the 1-5 range, nothing stand-out about his game, terrible stats, half the time my scouts don't even SEE the guy because he's in such a low league. He'll be unranked and get drafted in the middle of the 1st round. Go to the editor and he'll have a CA of like 27, but a PA of 180. So he's drafted where his PA has him, BUT let's be honest, with that low of a CA NO SCOUT is ever going to know he's going to become an all-star caliber player. At best he should be an Aho/Barzal/Kuch type that gets drafted a bit later. Realistically he should probably be more like a Panarin type, undrafted late-bloomer who becomes an all-star UDFA. Somehow, scouts in the game must be "seeing" this PA despite the fact that nobody would ever be able to realistically tell...that's like watching a 9 yo kid and saying "yep, future Crosby, guarantee it!" Maybe there needs to be a delta-limit of what kind of gap scouts "see"...like 75 pts above CA?

Additionally, if you don't get a goalie in the top 45, you're likely never getting a starter, maybe not even a decent backup. In real life, sure some of the best goalies go early (Vasy, Otter), but then you have plenty that go later rounds (Sorokin, Shesty, Swayman, Ullmark, Helly), or even UDFA (Logan Thompson). In real-life, goalies are voodoo. In EHM2007, I loved finding goalies in later rounds! In this version, I can't even remember the last time a drafted starting goalie wasn't a 1st/2nd rounder. And again, the above example has applied to goalies, low stats, not even playing in a lower-league, 1st round pick!

EDIT: I'll also add a few of those times those guys never developed, they never even hit 100CA or retired bc they weren't playing, which makes them being taken 1st round even more outlandish

Here's an interesting one, Shane Wright hasn't played in 2 years w/Seattle since coming from the OHL (played 22-23 about to start the 25-26 season). He shows up on the "Report" tab, but not on their "Roster" tab. I think I've seen this a few times now with different players. He shows as "Lacking Game Fitness", but has no injury history or anything else.

NOTE: This is using (2022-23) xECK29x's Premier Pivot Database (v7.9 - All NHL re-rates complete!)

@BKarchitect

Just (only) now stumbled upon your NHLTurbo DB and decided to give it a whirl!

Here's a few things I noticed:
You have Russia speaking also Finnish and Swedish - I'd remove those and add English as 2nd language and if we're reaching, German as 3rd! f.e. Ovechkin and Malkin speaking Finnish is kinda out of place!
MTL Kent Hughes has the wrong Jack Hughes listed as a favorite. :P
WPG C. Hellebuyck has WPG listed as favorite, while this may be true I'm pretty sure he wants out, and in EHM terms that has a big impact on his willingness to re-sign, right?
I know this is kinda personal preference, but I also noticed a lot of the notable players are listed as two-way forwards - is this made for EHM to round out their attributes a bit better?

I already made those few nitpick-changes myself, and will start a new, first NHLTurbo-save now!

TY for the DB! :)

edit

C Gracyn Sawchyn (drafted by STL in DB, and plays junior in Seattle) is playing for Seattle Kraken - probably should move him to Seattle Thunderbirds!

Lol thanks for the Sawchyn catch. I tell you, when you are editing sometimes it is hard to keep Seattle and Winnipeg straight with their NHL and WHL teams!

Regarding all-around forwards I may indeed have too many set that way!

If I did an update I’d probably not have Winnipeg a favorite for Helle but you have to be a little careful - if you set Winnipeg as a dislike, his CPU GM may trade him for a 5th round draft pick. I find that setting dislikes helps get CPU team to move players along but it also tanks their value in the eyes of their GM. Sometimes I like to set them to dislike their GM and HC instead - that doesn’t always prompt a move but sometimes does and keeps the value higher in my experience. John Gibson probably needs to be edited too knowing what we know now.

Also glad you are tweaking how you see fit. Taking a bit of a hiatus so you may need to kind of massage it as needed for yourself for a bit!

Totally forgot about that AI-GM tendency, noticed you did that with Scheifele and Wheeler, I'll apply that to Hellebuyck as well!

Forgot Provorov-Severson stuff happened recently, I'll add those in, a few tweaks (just for my own use, don't worry!) and get to playing!

That said, the DB seems fun and I'm interested to see how quickly I can play through the seasons, as I only tend to play NHL-centric myself. Definitely hoping you get back to it at some point!

Is it a safe assumption to say I won't be able to get a refund after 40k hours even though the games completely unplayable now?

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker - don't post often. I've been playing EHM back when the first version was free. Anyways, I've logged many hours and have long supported each version of the game. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I just find the game very easy to win the cup. I've tried the FHM series but it just hits different and doesn't keep me as interested. I don't know if its the UI or the general feel of it - maybe I need to give it another chance? Have others adapted well to FHM? - curious to hear.

Anyways, is there anything I can do or a version that makes EHM 1 a little more challenging to win the cup?

Thanks

Best thing I can think of is to give yourself some rules and push yourself to abide by them. Maybe not allowing yourself to sign any UFAs, or sign UFAs but not allowed to do any trades at all...those are great for trying to build a team entirely from drafted players (which is almost always my goal). I've done one before where I didn't allow myself to sign/trade/draft anyone from the USA, CAN, SWE, FIN, RUS...basically all more minor hockey nations, really focuses you to overpay for stars from those nations, draft & develop, find hidden gems overseas, etc

Also not using tactics is a big one

Thanks for the suggestion! I guess I can give it a try but it does take some realism out of the fun (for me anyway).

I never used any user-made tactics, rather only the pre-loaded ones which I would tweak accordingly. Or do you mean not even using the pre-loads?

Especially those pre-loads. Use no tactics and let coach make lineup decisions.
