I'm not trying to defend MB

But, he didn't "let" him walk, he chose to leave

You could make that argument with any player who signs with another team, can't you? He choose to sign with that team ultimately.

Wasn't the story behind it that essentially Bergevin low balled him after he was the best shutdown centre in the playoffs and took the team to the SCF and then he signed with another team?

That's as close to letting him walk as it gets.

2nd at trade deadline if he paces for another 40-50 points.

He is a whatever player on a contract a bit too big. He has no value today, but I bet you could find someone to take him if you knocked a million off his salary. He will have more value as an expiring contract.

Think Kerfoot the past couple years. Not necessarily a negative asset but a hard sell non the less, as he just so unremarkable.
With some work you may be able to get a similarly unremarkable player in a 1 for 1. But teams aren’t exactly climbing over themselves to add him.

I know logically I have seen him play before but I honestly have no memory of this player. Good or bad.

Really can't see anybody giving up anything for a guy that makes eggshell white paint look exciting.

Using real salary shows how little your evaluation is worth
Wut? If MTL is trying to dump him, then real salary is VERY important.

He's litterally been on pace for 40+ pts in 3 of his last 4 seasons.

But I guess you want to argue sementics, just as about everytime I read anything on here. This board is a shithole.
Pace is meaningless nerd stat that is not governed by anything but your crazy belief. Keep looking at that and not what actually happens.

28 points in 64 games, last season, averages out to .4375 points per game, or 35.875 points over an 82 game season… exactly where is that 40-50 points he supposedly “paced” for?

The guy hasn’t played a full 82 games once, not once, in his NHL career. The closest he came was his first 2 seasons in ARI with 78 games each.. but since then he’s never played more than 70 and only once more than 65.
If you want to talk about pace, then Dvorak is on pace to becoming a part-time player.

Because he plays Center and that is a valued position around the league, i don't think he's a "cap dump". But his salary is at least a million bucks more than it should be, so in today's cap world...that seriously compromises any value he might have. He's not negative value, but he's not really worth anything either.

Same sort of situation as Garland with Vancouver. Not a terrible player and not that egregiously overpaid, but expensive enough that nobody is going to want to eat up that cap space on him. Not at the expense of giving up an actual asset of importance to acquire him.

The deadline is probably the better bet to move Dvorak. At that point, teams are always looking to load up with an extra Center or two. They'll probably look past the remaining term there, if it means acquiring a solid bottom-6 Center for "cheap".

strange how many players trend downward when 'traded' away from Arizona
its almost like when a guy is playing on a rubbish team, they may look better than they actually are.

Hard working 3C that doesn't have much play making vision. Just good on faceoffs and some of the boring stuff fans don't look at.

He was producing more with the Coyotes in the last season or two than what he has done with the Habs. I expected more. Basically a 30-40 pts center who can win faceoffs and play a sound game defensively and not be taken advantage of physically.

I don't see many teams lining up. I do expect him to go in the Dubois trade if that happens with Montreal but it's the NHL contract part. Depends on the other parts.

Alone by himself? Maybe a 2nd rounder at best. $4.45M is a bit too high for what you get. Should be in the $3M-$4M range.

With Ariz 0.48 ppg
With Mtl 0.51

Was bland then and now. Cant believe this guy has a live thread.

its .508 vs .483
which is pretty stagnant, considering we are including his rookie/sophomore seasons vs his prime age seasons on MTL
Players should get better as they enter their mid 20's and get stronger and learn how to play in the NHL.
.025 ppg is not really improvement when you have just entered your 'prime'

Dvorak is the epitome of 'meh'. Slow. Very limited offensive ability. Just an incredibly boring player who does very little.

If Habs retain to bring his caphit closer to 3M (preferably below 3M), I can see him being useful for a team that needs a low event hard working 3C who you can throw out there to try to kill tough minutes and win faceoffs while letting your valuable top two C take a rest.

Stop with the worthless argument re pace. Pace is completely relevant if it spans years. If the reason for incomplete seasons is always injuries and it is unlikely the player is ever going to play a full season then it doesn't mean much.
