We’re spiteful fan bases that don’t like the other.

I do think your current GM is pretty good. You’ll like Newhook. He’s going to blossom and score ~24 goals next year. He’s underrated. Hit a ton of posts this past year. A few more of those are going in most years. He’s fast as hell. Good motor. Not a sissy in the corners.

Dvorak is negative value at his AAV. Might as well keep him until he’s a rental. Then retain 50% at the deadline. He’ll fetch a 2nd then.
Personally got nothing against Newhook and haven’t seen him play much so. I know about all the hype there was around him so I guess I’ll figure out next year what I think about this trade. I would have preferred to spend these assets on a guy like Kakko or Lafreniere but I guess they were not available - or at least not at that price.

On Dvorak, he seems uninterested at times and I can’t blame him for it. He played on bottom feeder his whole career. I played high enough (but far from being anywhere near AHL/NHL) to know that it’s hard to find motivation when you know you’re going to lose the whole year. I can’t talk about how he feel but I’m sure he would look a bit better on the ice and looked more engaged and motivated if he played for a contender.

I also don’t know about his value. I think he could fetch a first out there from someone who has a glaring need at 3C and not many options and would be willing to take a bet on him.

Dude. If Kevin Hayes is worth nothing at 50% retained and $3.5mm AAV, ain’t nobody giving the Habs a 1st for Dvorak.

Retain 50% at the deadline and get some middle round pick. Maybe a 2nd if he’s playing well.

Habs win some and lose some trades. It’s very safe to say the Habs badly lost the Dvorak trade.

You might be right.

Yeah, in a league where Hall returns junk and Hayes at 50% returns nothing, I don't think there's going to be much of a market for an expensive 3C that avoids contact like the plague.

13 hits in 64 games? I would have thought he'd get more than that just by accident.
