Stan Fischler would know. Ask the maven for final judgment. Was it a legit nickname or not
It’s funny (and 100% not Mandela effect) but I’ve actually been using hockeyref for 5 years and always loved seeing the nicknames. If you go around the league there are some surprising ones that you’ve never heard which I never know if that means it’s what the players called him or if it’s an esoteric fan moniker or if they’re just making stuff up.

Anyway I can confirm Satan’s Wallpaper has been written on Marty’s profile for quite some time. You could check waybackmachine. Not saying that means it’s a real nickname but at least it’s been there for longer than 1 week.

The term is irrelevant to me. 2.3M is a lot in the context. We want to improve the team as much as we can. Sure do that and who cares about the cap if that’s all we want to do. But there’s no way it should be and there’s better players we should be able to get at that cap. Or two players of that calibre for that cap. That cap hit is more important now than in the offseason or anytime else because it massively affects even the smallest of improvements we make going forward this season. It’s wasteful and limiting.

If you believe he’s actually worth that cap sure argue that. But suggesting the cap hit doesn’t matter right now is crazy talk. There’s a reason you’ll see all the retained trades around the deadline. Everyone is trying to squeeze every last improvement in for every last dollar. Not just saying who cares about the cap hit.
My argument is $2.3 mil is not a big deal if we think Frederick is a significant improvement over Mac. And his 35 goals in the previous seasons, vs 3 for Mac, suggest he is.

I won't pretend to know how good a player Frederick is overall, but I'm pretty sure you won't find many guys who scored 35 goals the previous 2 seasons who are available for that cap hit, let alone half that cap hit.

And I know injuries happen, but where else are we looking to improve? The top 9 looks pretty locked in. The D is over stocked. Goalies are locked. The 4th line on the other hand is already severely limited including a guy who we barely play, protect the hell out of his minutes when we do play him, and he still get's crushed in terms of possession.

both would help and probably instantly push Palat out of our top 9. combo of size and speed is needed and Drew is a New Jersey native, more consistent and defensive responsible.

try to flip Tatar into one of Frederic or Geekie and this team will look much better and complete and Sheldon would have some flexibility
I know it's difficult for this board to accept but Palat has been good with Hughes. Any Hughes wing addition would likely be more a cog player then scoring winger, and Palat looks to be a good cog player on that line.

I'd also be surprised if Tatar is traded. We're trying to fix the 4th line, not trade the only good player on it.

Would I love another dynamic forward like Bratt or a guy like Meier with chemistry to play with Jack? Of course, but I do think the chemistry with Palat has been pretty good.

Palat has been backchecking well and he’s been pretty good at winning pucks in the defensive zone. He still thinks the game well enough in the offensive zone that he knows how to support Hughes and Bratt while letting them do their thing.

For the way the Devils roster is constructed, and if we conceded Meier doesn’t work with Jack, I think Palat has been a fine option with Jack and Bratt.

It’s been up there since they started putting up player nicknames, probably about a year ago.

When was that jeopardy episode? Was that Jeopardy episode recent?

Early in the season but Bratt needs to fix his penalty differential.

-4 this year, after being one of the best in the league at it in the past

Can’t get over that play.

Absolutely amazing stuff from Luke. As he gets more and more confident and matures he is going to be a real problem for the league. He’s just scratching the surface.

What also makes my heart flutter in that clip is seeing 4 Devils back in good position to defend. Hard back checks from Palat and Jack. Those who have complained about Jack’s inability or unwillingness to defend should know that clip isn’t just a one off. He’s been doing it for most of the season and more consistently so as of late. He has bought in.
