They took on Bernier's cap hit, not his salary. BM knew what he was getting himself into when he acquired Bernier. This isn't a spur of the moment trade everyone is making it out to be.

Too bad the ducks need the cap space this year.

Im sure you would be. Don't think any Jets fans would be though, certainly not this one.

Just basing off the fact that you guys are likely losing trouba and need a LHD, Fowler could prob work well with Buff... and you guys kinda have an overhaul of NHL top 6 forwards with plenty of help coming up in the near future.

Not saying jets fans would be it certainly could spark some talks(I assume would also depend on what you guys are getting if/when you trade trouba, if a LHD comes back then really no need for fowler.

Yeah sure i'm sure that Kevin Cheveldayoff would trade one of his young wingers for 2 years of Cam Fowler considering that Winnipeg is still 2-3 years out of making any kind of significant impact.

Maybe I over rate the jets a bit... but I feel like they have a pretty impressive roster forward/dmen... the one weakness would be goalie(which they have help coming soon) ... I thought last season was more of a fluke season... I think they could very well be a playoff team this year depending on what happens with the trouba trade.

To be honest, I have no interest in Fowler at all. I would be upset it we spent good assets to acquire him.

No reason to sell one of our top winger prospects.

I just listened to the Pierre bit. He didn't say once that the Ducks are looking to make a cap dump. He said the Ducks were deep into trade talks with two east coast teams. Said the trade talks were surrounding a certain player, but didn't want to say the player's name out of respect for said player. So he continued by saying the Ducks are in talks moving a Highly-valued player to the east. So, save your cap dump dream scenarios lol.

I assume the fowler move will be something around a Forward top 6 option...

still dreaming of a despres/stoner/beiska cap dump :handclap:

Fowler for Spooner+Cehlarik as suggested in other thread and agreed upon as mutually beneficial... make it happen.

Almost word for word:

"I will not say the players name only because I don't think it's appropriate, but they are trying to move a high valued target to a team in the east. There have been a lot of discussions. Talking to at least two teams in the east."

Wtf. Weren't Ducks fans just making fun of Penguins fans last season for stealing Despres from them? What gives?

He was never the same after his concussions, and now having multiple carries some risk. He also carries a 3.7m cap hit and will be a 3rd pairing guy for them. As it stands Despres is a solid #4/5 defender. He CAN play in a top-4 on a weaker team and do a good job if he rebounds, but for Anaheim it isn't worth the cap hit or risk. He could also be taken by Vegas if he's kept. He's also easier to unload than Stoner on the back end and can help them sign RFAs.

Lots of reasons but yeah, Despres probably wont be all he was hyped to be after that 1 great year. Whether concussions played a big part or not we may never know.

Only "high value" players without an NMC are Vatanen-Fowler-Depress and Silfverberg.

I d say it is a blueliner since Hampus situation and already contracted 5 blueliners on AAV 3+ contract.

Hampus is LHD. Fowler and Depres are LHDs.

I can't see it being anyone other than Fowler he's talking about. The (almost) cap dumps aren't exactly highly valued.

Wings were one of the teams in chats with us previously right?

Yup heard that Holland was heavily pursuing Fowler, Rumor had it before that draft that Murray was seeking Tatar+Detroit's 2016 2nd rounder for Fowler but i guess Holland balked at that in which is a fair offer for Fowler. Every thing i keep seeing on the rumor sites suggest that Holland is heavily pursuing Fowler.

That sounds like Fowler because anyone else they could move like Stoner, Bikesa etc wouldn't be considered high value

Fowler would be

I hope we can get it done.

It's kind of fun to watch. Fans of a dozen teams line up for Fowler, and all maintain that the situation won't see the Ducks get full value. Whether the Ducks have to do something is of minimal influence when the market is as good as this thread indicates.

The two 2nds he got weren't really an underpayment for what he was at the time.

Most of those "dozen" teams can't actually take on the contract without sending salary back or making their own cap dump deal and you know that.
