Carolina, NJ, Buffalo, Ottawa, Florida, Tampa Bay (Kucherov to resign still), Boston, Nashville, Columbus: Teams that have the space to take on Fowler with no return (Columbus would be slightly over, but Clarkson could be going to LTIR). Buffalo, NJ and Boston have all been linked to Fowler at some point and all 3 have the ability to take on Fowler's hit. Red Wings would need to get creative with how they'd deal with the cap, but they might be willing to deal with it since they probably have the highest desire to add him (which is why I previously mentioned Howard). I don't really understand where you get most teams that want Fowler won't be able to take on his cap hit.

TB, Nashville, Columbus, Carolina are all obviously out because of cap(TB) or need of LD. Buffalo since added Kulikov and won't have the $$$ once they sign Risto.

Florida, Boston and NJ is what I see. Florida doesn't have a top 9 ELC wing to offer. NJ has Boucher I guess, but he is more of an AHL/NHL tweener than an actual top 9 player.

There are not many real suitors.

it is easy to say

Fowler-Bieska or Stoner

but they need to sign the guys long term--that means a contract longer then two years needs to be shipped

Unless Duck fans can convince me that they no longer have an internal cap

Ducks maybe looking to ship out a larger, long term cap

Fowler to montreal has been there for awhile and I think Dupres contract they are not in love with

Bieska NMC is a killer right now and stoner's contract is just bad

for Stoner--Ducks are adding to move that contract

Given the depth of the ducks defense, I would expect Kevin to waive the NMC, since LV likely picks one of despres or Manson assuming there is no trade of a dman out of Anaheim.

I mean, LV isn't going to claim bieksa if Manson who is a good 12 plus years younger is available with a cap hit under $1 million and a rhd.

But Anaheim should have figured this out long ago. Don't be playing hardball with your rfas when you overpaid for UFAs. I mean, they took on Bernier full cap hit of $4 million. For a backup goalie.

He'll waive or be bought out. Ducks won't lose Manson in the expansion draft, which is why they are moving Fowler. We have a lot of 2 way Dmen in the ranks, but we don't really have any high level, big bodies, stay at home guys. Manson is a must keep for Anaheim, especially since he's a right shot as well.

no one would want stoner or bieksa

it'll either be despres or fowler. i'm hoping despres since they'll lose him in the expansion draft anyways but even if it's fowler, not as worried with theodore emerging

Vatanen, Fowler or Despres obviously.
I doubt Despres has max value right now though due to his concussion last year.

Despres to Devils book it he checks off all the boxes for their tradeable defensemen.

Defensemen good enough to actually be wanted... Fowler and Despres
Defensemen meh enough for the Ducks not to miss them ... Despres, Stoner, Bieska
Ducks defenders who were drafted by a sitting GM in the East with cap space to spare... Despres.

Personally as much as Shero pissed me off bu te end of his tenure hes starting to scare the h*ll outta me in NJ. Got Palmieri, Hall for Larson a 2nd and a 3rd. And i wouldnt doubt he finds a way to get an easy D upgrade even if its a blah guy like Stoner.

.

Problem is, IMO, unless the Ducks makes it worth it to Carolina, there's not much incentive to make a move since the Ducks and Canes have strength in the same areas. And there's not much incentive for the Ducks to "make it worth it" to the Canes.

Slavin, Hanifin, Hainsey, Fleury, Carrick and Bean on the LHD side. I'm not saying all these guys are better (or project to be better) than Fowler, just saying it's not a short term or long term need for Carolina.

How is anyone thinking it's Kesler? He has a NMC and wanted to come here because of family and then Bieksa came here. It's not Kes people.

Honestly who the hell would want stoner?

$3.25 mil for what he brings is just awful. He should be a healthy scratch pretty much league wide and he is eating over 3 mil for the next two years

Murray needs to put a pork chop (a good pick/prospect) around Stoners neck to have any chance to move him
I hated the stoner signing but he is a good 6th dman and good pk'er. He is overpaid but useful

With talks of Anaheim possibly looking for a goalie. I wonder if Anaheim would be interested in a deal for Fowler?

I mean It wouldn't be the key piece. But with Price and Montoya getting the net in the NHL. Also Fucale and Lindgren in the AHL. Condon is kind of in a middle area or key a role in the AHL of Fucale was moved.

Condon / Fucale
Prospect - De la rose / Hudon / Scherbak
Good draft pick

For

Fowler

Ducks don't need a goalie.

What gives? It's not like Dano has a noticeably higher value.

Agree
I like Dano (and would like him in nj) but he's bounced around a bit
Boucher finally made the big team and will be the third LW in jersey this year at a min.

I didn't get the impression it was a "salary dump" Pierre was talking about ... more so a legit player. I think Fowler is highly likely based on what he said, which was: "[The Ducks] are trying to move a high-value target to a team in the East."

Here's the interview:

https://soundcloud.com/tsn-radio-va...-get-a-lot-of-reps-and-play-in-all-situations

Ducks stuff starts around 8m30s.

Thanks a lot for that. According to McGuire it is certainly not someone like Stoner, as he is not an high value target.

Probably Fowler and all the teams know how Anaheim has no choice, so the offers are probably below what BM wants to get.

Hoping its Tatar+pick for Fowler and that the only hold up is finding a landing spot for Brendan Smith so Detroit can absorb Fowler's salary.
