So the rest of my deal was a 2nd, Engvall and Mrazek for Gibson, which I thought was decent because goalies don't hold extremely high value. The 2nd isn't nothing and Engvall has value, but Mrazek is a warm body at this point.
Mrazek is a terrible cap dump… engvall has little to no value to Anaheim and a 2nd isn’t something we should be trading Gibson for

I would ignore any inquests regarding Gibson. Not at all realistic IMO. Right now I feel like we Leaf fans are that annoying tire kicker who tries to talk you down all the while knowing they are buying something else lol

Fair enough, I guess I felt that Nylander's value was higher than Lindholm's so it worked out in the original deal. Either way, I don't think Nylander gets traded because Dubas promised him he wouldn't trade him and he's likely willing to die on the hill.

IMO Leafs need to draw from their superstar forwards to bring in defensive help and this would help them get to the 2nd round.

Blues don't have the cap space to get it down. What cap dump are they sending back and is it more than one year cap dump? If so, that increases the dig into their futures pool.

Bruins have leverage. Cap space is a big issue with many playoff teams. Rangers and Bruins have the cap space to make any move they want. Other teams require to send cap dumps back and/or to ask a 3rd team to retain 50%.

There is a reason why Manson and Chiarot have moved first. 50% retention was very attractive for teams with tight cap space and possible plans to make another move.

I can't imagine a single scenario where the Ducks take any cap dumps back in this trade lol.

IMO, the proposal earlier of 1st + Neighbors + Scandella + Perunovich / Kostin for an extended Lindholm is fine as a cap dump because there's sufficient value coming back and it's not like Scandella's terrible.

Lindholm = 1st , 2nd Robertson
Gibson = Nylander - Mrazek

Dubas said he wont trade leafs 1st or any top prospects, Leafs have traded past 3 years 1st with no success and with leafs goaltending this year i doubt leafs management wants to take that risk this year

Scandella is serviceable as a 3rd pairing guy. He’s been asked in STL to play a heavy shutdown role next to Parayko which just hasn’t been working.

He is overpaid for what he is. However, he’s still an nhl defender. He may not have much value. But he’s not a guy you have to send down to the AHL to try and save a million in cap.

I can see that as well, but I think there'll be better offers w/o the Ducks having to take on additional salary, and they'll be looking for that. I think the future cap flexibility for a rebuilding team is way more valuable than anything a cap dump might bring.

8x8 is absurd, he should come in somewhere between Pellech and Parayko

Yah that’s the rumor of what Lindholm is wanting. And the board is making very solid points here. Who has the cap for a 8x8 that’s a contender. I mean it’s not like Anaheim is broke. They would have signed him to his dollar amount. But that term is what killed the deal

I think he will get the term at the sacrifice of the cap hit. Either 7x7 or 8x6.5. From what was being speculated it, term was where the negotiations broke down between Lindholm and Anaheim.

Oilers will take Lindholm, Gibson, and Rackell.
You can have everything not McDavid or Draisaitl as long as the cap works.

Take 3x 1sts + prospects, whatever. Holloway and Bourgault I guess are tossed in there, but you gotta take some dumps to make the salary work.

Bad for business if you are not open to alternative options. As fans, you can say that and laugh but it won't fly with real GM's. If a team is willing to offer you more value cause they are sending a 1/2 year cap dump, you consider it among all the offers.

Don't pretend that all teams calling you for Lindholm have cap space. It's a major factor in this flat cap

Not that they are the same player, but having Lindholm and his demands on the market might make GM's re-think trading for Chychrun?

This thread is making me realize how lucky MN is to have Brodin signed long term for 6M.
