Would you guys take Gallagher for Dubois?

This would be the ultimate roll of the dice trade for the Habs. He either snaps out of it and Habs win big time OR sets back the Habs for YEARS with a circus around him.

A GM who does this has to have titanium balls...

What say you?
I’d do it. If the Kings buy out Gallagher they actually gain cap space the first year. So they’d add over $8.8m of space for next season when I assume they will still be all in while they still have Gavrikov. The buyout doesn’t get bad until after Kopi is gone and they will be back in tear down mode anyway.

The most shocking thing is that we’ve yet to see anything in his play to indicate that things are going to change. That’s what disturbs me the most.

Even at his best he really wasn't that great. He's an offensive center who has only ever reached 63 points. He's big but doesn't use his body, he sort of has a mean streak but that hardly ever comes out. I was watching some highlights of him the other day with the Jets and most of his assists came from passing it to Connor who did all the work. How in the world is that worth 8.5M and all the assets given up to get him? I mean I know the cap is going up but still, or maybe I just don't know the market that well anymore. He turned a few days in the bubble playoffs into a huge payday. Reminds me of the Petersson contract, huge contract given even though he had never really proved himself yet, people just kept talking about him like he was way better than he actually was.

Right, it flies in the face of anything the Kings have ever done WRT their pro scouting.

Except one thing--Kovalchuk.

I'm not sure what's worse--if that's a Blake miscalculation or if he's getting buttf***ed from above.

Dubois reeks of Luc and Bergy. No doubt in my mind that’s where the heavy lobbying came from. Why anyone would listen to Luc is beyond me. He’s always came across as the guy who is missing the essential crayons from his box. That is why we have ended up with a pink and green elephant because Blake let the strugglebus executive break out his big fat crayolas!

Sucks that we're handcuffed to the guy for 8 years. Dumbass decision. I would be a little less upset if we had him for 7 for 2yrs or 6 for 3yrs. But noooo 8 fkn years!

When Dubois signed he was lauded as UFA to be Kopitar’s heir. A week later, Kopitar reups for two more years.

To start the year, PL is out with Fiala as the second line. Less than 2 weeks later, he’s on the third line and Fiala is gone.

Gotta wonder what the guy was sold versus what the Kings delivered.

We don’t have to wonder what Dubois has delivered. We see the pile of shit every night on the ice.

I remember a game against the Kings where he potted two I believe. One was a nice shot on the power play. Blake probably fell in love then. If his play doesn’t improve THIS season when the Kings are supposed to be all in, Blake has to go.

He’s paid more than any Kings forward in terms of real cash. In what world does it make sense for him to play a single minute behind Kopitar and Danault alongside a bunch of guys making next to league minimum.

What kind of plan is that? And at the end of the day. Does he really look like a complete shitbag compared to Kopitar or Danault? They all seem like within 30% of performance between them all.

Dubois doesn’t even bend his knees when he skates. And plan? You think Blake has a plan???

Can I hide out here?

I'm getting beaten like a rented mule in my Habs forum for suggesting a trade.

My background for half a century was manufacturing management. I literally had thousands of employees over my career and odd as it sounds, there hasn't been as many downright lazy employees as what appears with Dubois.

Usually you need to "reach them" to find out why they are not producing. Majority improve. Some don't. Yes, I fired many but that was more about keeping high production levels rather then just "adequately productive" people.

So what ails Dubois? Need to find out the underlying problem or issue.

Or he may just be a lazy slob....

That’s the $8,500,000 question.

PL will get 40+ points this season and will start to pot 60+ every season hereafter. Just look at his stats.

I'm curious, if anyone knows this answer, say we had expansion in a couple years. Could we leave PLD off the protected list and expose him to the expansion draft? Or does he have something in his contract preventing that?
I'd think PLD would be a great potential pick for an expansion team. They usually have to do work to get their overall cap hit up. He'd still be young (27ish) too.

Need player's consent to be made available for an expansion draft when they have a NMC. PLD has a NMC for 4 seasons starting 24-25.

Full NMC starting next season thru 2028 then modified

yeah, I thought there was something in his contract that was a potential block. The NMC. Darn.

If you're pointing out how when he was first traded to WPG he didn't get a lot of points, that's because he got covid and then came back and then got injured, came back from that and then got injured again. Not to mention he was traded mid-season.

Not at all comparable to his situation now where he apparently wants to be with LA and had a full off-season and training camp to prepare. You miss that kind of nuance when you just look at his stats.

Do you want to find out? The clock's ticking, this deal won't be on the table forever.
