Just checked out the Dubois trade thread on the Jets board. Why do they hate Montreal fans so much? All of those “lowball” offers of Josh Anderson and a 2nd would have been perfectly fair value for what PLD actually does. They act like it was insulting.

If you add a bunch of goals and assists to his point totals it doesn’t look that bad you guys.

This got me thinking, how does Dubois really stack up to the best of the best? Where does he rank among the truly elite? I put his stats to the test.

I was pretty surprised by what I saw. Is it the stat nerds that are wrong? Have they not been counting his points correctly? Is this a conspiracy? How deep does this really go? So I did what anyone would do at this point: I used my own brain to come up with what his stats actually should be.

The results were astounding. If I added a mere 27 goals and 37 assists to his statline while increasing his plus/minus by 20, powerplay goals by 10, game-winning goals by 5, shots by 121, and point share by 6.9, he'd be at the top of the league. The proof is in the pudding:

They would have been overpaying.

I really with Montreal won the bidding war for PLD. There were a couple fans who said they wouldn't trade Anderson for Vilardi straight up.

Vilardi slides in draft due to injury/durability questions....

Early on those concerns look valid as pro-career hampered; many citing his selection as a wasted pick.

Guy perseveres and battles back to show hes not only a bonafide nhl player but clearly a high level talent- only to have Blake trade him or a guy widely regarded as a lazy/indifferent player.

Blake was very determined to turn that asset into an anchor.

Pierre Luc Douchebag is pure poison and a coach killer - the polar opposite of a Justin Williams or Willie Mitchell.

If it’s our genius management’s idea to keep him then he’s gotta be benched to sit & watch from the press box. On the other hand if they want to up his value and trade him then they should move him up to line 2 and get his lardass moving. Then trade him to Montreal or maybe a desperate team losing a star like Vancouver with whatever adds it takes to get him out of here.

It was insulting at the time. Now, not so much.

I'm pretty sure Dubois will turn it around for you guys. At least I hope so. It took him a while to get started in Winnipeg too. He is capable of being a game changer when he gets it going. Someone needs to light a fire under his ass.

PLD has always been kind of a fraud who's relied on the PP to pad his stats.

He's arguably not even better than Iafallo at producing at even strength.

Dubois has gotten above 2pts P/60 5v5 once in his career while averaging 70% OZ starts. The one year he did was likely because of playing with Panarin.

And he sucks defensively.

He's just not that good.

Anderson is a bull with blinders. On the other hand, he's not lazy.

From the local rumours it was Anderson plus 2nd OR Late 1st and Evans. Jets ask was laughable demand for Dach. But then you guys gifted them Vilardi.

We offered what at the time was fair to maybe high value because the player had a questionable reputation. Now fully realized.

At this point I'm sure that someone will take him off your hands for not much more then used pucks because it's 50/50 that he's going to make Drouin look like a superstar...for 7 years.

There is no question that if he doesn't step up you have no choice but to trade him or buy him out. Faaaar too risky to hold on to him.

Are the Habs interested? Some idiot fans like me still believe that there may be a light in there but at 8.5 million it's far too risky. It certainly wont be for any high value return. Think Jake Evans.

I don't know if the Habs would have any interest in PLD now, but I would absolutely trade him there and take a shit contract back. Anything to get him off the books.

His NMC doesn't kick in until the off season.

The Montreal media would not go easy on PLD.
