LeBrun: Dubois wants out of Winnipeg, will not sign a contract for next season

How can LA fit him in this situation? If Vilardi is getting a 3M bridge contract and they fill up the remaining 5 roster spot to make it 23 players with minimum salary of 800k, they would only have 300k left for PLD.

Lets say PLD will sign at minimum 8M, who do they trade to make it work?

Iafallo + Arvidsson/Moore?

Do anyone in the league want Moore at 4.2M for the next 5 years?

Are they ready to trade Kempe to make cap space for Dubois?

Arvidsson is UFA next season, I don't think he would extend in Winnipeg after living the last few years in LA.....

Iaffalo, what's his value as a 3rd line LW?

I have a hard time seeing how can LA do that trade without trading Adrian Kempe.
Kempe isn't being traded. If he were Jets would be adding a significant piece. This trade could work by a 3 team deal or Jets retaining some salary.

I would love to be a fly on his wall when he gets the call notifying him of the trade to Winnipeg. It would be epic.
If Byfield was the main piece it be done for Dubois alone. Byfield is only 20 years old and Kopitar has told management he wants to play with Byfield and Kopitars request holds water in the organization.

Reading the prospects board, there's some talk Montreal likes Leonard/Reinbacher. Maybe they feel one is there at 7.
To PHI: #5
To MTL: #7+#22
Then
To WPG: #22+#31+something
To: MTL: Dubois
Just a random tought from an outside fan.

I like the 2 1sts but I think the Jets are looking for players that are a bit further along in development over additional picks.

Im not understanding why Winnipeg are asking for actual value? They are in an incredible position of weakness , looking like a fleece to me wherever he does go
lol we made out with a 1st and pionk when trouba would only sign with 1 team... a big 25 year old center who put up .86 ppg willing to sign with more then one team is not a position of incredible weakness...

Fair enough.

If Scheifele had a more well rounded game he would be considered a top player and be worth a fortune in a trade.
How is it, that the organization allowed he and Wheeler to run such a toxic room?
What did we all miss here? Good players, but............

Who’s to say how many of those 5-6 teams have the interest to trade for him, the cap space to make it happen and the willingness to sign him to a big dollar long term extension?

Even if there’s a fit the other GM has to know he’s got limited competition bidding against him. The Jets aren’t likely to hit a home run here

TBH its unclear what Winnipeg is asking for bc none of us know what they are asking for or what has been offered. I wouldn't assume anything either way, I'm just waiting till it happens. I assume they are fishing for just the best offer out there, whatever that turns into.

I personally wouldn’t mind but if they like both Leonard and Reinbacher and they go 5 & 6 then you’re f*cked. I don’t think any management team is willing to take that risk. It could backfire.

It is when you got two weeks before you have to make a decision and the reality of having to bring back an unhappy player into the locker room for one year unless you accept what a rental would cost. Just because the Rangers found a happy medium for Trouba doesn’t mean the same thing will happen for Dubois.

you don't see how there is a difference between hitting a home run and being in a "position of incredible weakness"?

Why do they have two weeks?

I think LA could beat it with players/prospects that would fill needs on the Jets

If you've had 2 different jobs in your life and was thinking about leaving for a 3rd, which offers you a better quality of life, you would have shown exactly the same level of loyalty PLD has.

Players are working age human beings working a job. Who are you to call them cancers for seeking a better life?

Y'all call the guy entitled but think about it for 2 minutes and tell me who are the entitled ones here?

Pass if Byfield is included in a Dubois deal without Hellebuyck.
Done. We'll even take back salary/retain and make the cap work. Gonna need Spence and another piece too tho. Maybe a 1st or Pinelli. Willing to send back low cost forwards to fill your bottom six as well

Byfield Spence Perlini Arvidsson Iafallo

For

PLD (8x8) Helle 50% (3.08) Stanley Appleton Gustafsson

I’m skeptical PLD returns more than a mid to low first and a good prospect and some sort of extra pick. History shows that’s the basic going rate for a top rental. Maybe with an extension he brings a bit more but the historical examples are numerous. Fiala Meier and Hall come to mind quickly. Sharks fans thought they were getting a player like Dawson Mercer for Meier and it didn’t happen and that was for a player NJ can get two playoff runs with if they don’t ink a long term extension. Tkachuk was a bit different and maybe WPG wants a couple of lesser players who also need deals but I don’t see WPG fans liking that return either. If Jesper Bratt and Ryan Graves were the return and WPG overpaid them on deals to retain them is that a good outcome if other players in the core are leaving?

you realize that if all we were only going to get is rental value then it opens up the possibility to trade him to more then just the 5-6 teams he was willing to extend long term with? we have to obligation to trade pld to those 5-6 and instead we could just trade him for the highest price offered...
