I've liked all of Kent Hughes' moves so far. Or at least understood them at the time.

Trading Dach for Dubois would be a short-sighted, foolish move. I don't see it happening. I think the Habs walk if it comes to that.

Speaking of Dach, I was looking through his stats and I noticed he has a horrendous faceoff win rate of 38.3% this past season, with a career win rate of 35.3%. “Gosh”, I thought to myself. “That sounds awful!”

Out of curiosity, I look to see how Dach compares league wide. I found a website that ranks players by ELO ratings and only included players with at least 100 faceoffs. To my disgust and horror, Kirby Dach ranked as the fourth worst player in the entire league at faceoffs: NHL Faceoff Stats and Elo ratings

He also only contributed 20 even strength points.

I am now getting very skeptical about the worth of this Dach character. Jets may have to shift him to the wing and probably the third line.

What else are you giving up as a plus on Dach for Dubois?

That's not really true, I've seen 1st round pick, Owen Beck, Justin Barron, Josh Roy among the offer and it's far from getting him for free.

Yes it's not a solid offer I acknowledge that but it's as good as Trouba deal.
There ‘s been an awful lot of Dvorak, Harris etc with the odd Armia and Hoffman thrown in.

If your quoting my old posts it says there dominated game 3 with his hat trick

He didnt have much of an impact outside of that

Since then he hasnt done anything in the playoffs (funny how you ignore his production is worse than elite 3C JT in the playoffs)

Matthews had a dominat game 4.

Leafs choked in typical fashion and lost game 5 but if they win that game then no ones mentioned dubois.

He didnt produce in the deciding game just like Matthews

Matthews has since had strong playoff series vs tampa both years hes faced them

PLD has faded into becoming a Sean Monohan like player.
This seems fair and balanced.....LMAO!

That's just not true. Twin Cities is nearly as big as Montreal, has nicer weather overall yearround (warmer summers), more sports options and comparable entertainment options (their theatres and bars are some of the busiest in North America).
What kind of bars though?

He’s not getting traded to the habs, i’ve been saying it for a year.

Best-case scenario for PLD would be Avs. Play 2C behind MacKinnon and feast on lesser competition. Then maximize your next deal.

this time the shoe is on the other foot. for years players used the habs to get better offers from other teams and some demanded trades right after signing a new deal ( petry) NOBODY was crying for the habs NOBODY! well for once its the habs turn. PLD wants to play in MTL and thats it. he is close to being a full UFA with arms waiting in MTL. I don't care what the JETS demand it's going to be what habs offer OR NOTHING and get PLD for free soon enough. No other team will step in and get PLD for a 1 year only deal for a huge bunch of assets. PLD wont sign a new long deal with ANYBODY until its MTL. After the
Caufield contract PLD knows exactly what the 8 year contract will be in MTL Same as Suzuki and Caufield.

Oh no guess we’ll just keep him then…

I think you need to send a memo to remind Hughes, because he doesn't agree with you about the "Suzuki / Caufield ceiling" for a player that's one year from UFA (like Dubois).

Oh, and maybe you missed this information... Brisson has indicated that Dubois will identify 5 or 6 teams that he's willing to sign a long-term deal with to facilitate a sign-and-trade from the Jets. The Habs are one of those five teams, but not the only team. Interestingly, this report says that the Habs reached out to the Jets as soon as the Jets' season ended to discuss Dubois. So they obviously have an interest in trading for Dubois now, and don't seem that enthusiastic about just sitting back and hoping to sign him in 2024.

Lol, So melodramatic.
He may end up a Hab, he’s also open to half a dozen other teams as has been reported yesterday and is willing to do a sign and trade, you obviously missed that news

Everyone and their dog knows the Habs have interest despite what their fans say. This is gonna be a signed and delivered 5-8 year term player. We may just got some decent value here.

I think the Habs maintain high interest. Dubois actually fits the Habs' line-up and age structure very well, providing size, speed, skill and aggressiveness down the centre. Being from Montreal is a bonus for the Canadiens.

So my expectation is that the Habs will be keen to wrap this up with a sign-and-trade, offering good enough value for Chevy to pull the trigger.

I would also note that if there aren't other teams interested in the sign-and-trade option and the Habs try to low-ball Chevy, there is absolutely no obligation for Chevy to trade him to the Habs in a sign-and-trade. He still has the option of trading Dubois to a contender before or at the draft (e.g. Colorado) if they are offering better trade value. That basically takes the offer sheet threat off the table, and Dubois would either have to sign a contract or sit out. So Brisson has incentive to pressure the Habs to make a deal, or risk losing Dubois.

It'll be interesting from Mtl's perspective. I dont think PLD signs for less than Suzuki, which montreal seems to be setting as its limit. I also dont see a fit if it means Dach is on the wing or on a 3rd line - though there are more and more teams utilising off-side centers on wings for faceoff purposes. I guess Dach could be part of a trade, but is that really worth it? i dotn think it is.
