Now that Hab fans finally realize that they are not getting Dubois “for free!!”, it‘s now pretty amusing seeing them now dump on the guy.
Won’t be a sign and trade cause he is an RFa. Team that gets him just throws a qualifying offer at him.I expect PLD to be moved by draft day if the reports of 5 or 6 different teams being on the docket is true. Biggest bid wins the sign and trade.

It would be based on the 2023-2024 revenues so obviously not.did they confirm how much for 2024 ?

But all the debt that players owed the NHL will finally be settled so the cap will grow unhindered based on revenues.
I think it should be a significant bump starting next year.
To reduce his value to just "a 60pt guy" isn't doing him fair justice. He's a huge guy and plays a physical game. And I believe his offensive potential is far greater than what he's shown.
for free? we either traded for him for assets or signed him has a ufa for millions on our cap theres nothing free in this worldNow that Hab fans finally realize that they are not getting Dubois “for free!!”, it‘s now pretty amusing seeing them now dump on the guy.
When the cap goes up, it would be nice to use that space effectively. Not just to fit in overpaid players.Y’know, the salary cap will start increasing quite a bit a year from now. $9M today isn’t going to look so much part way through the contract.
I know we’ve had a flat cap for awhile now and settled on player contract values but people should realize that times are changing fast.

True, but what we consider an $8M player today might be considered as a $9M player next year. When the cap goes up, it would be nice to use that space effectively. Not just to fit in overpaid players.
Almost as funny as Jets fans calling him a clown but expecting a good return in trade. Now that Hab fans finally realize that they are not getting Dubois “for free!!”, it‘s now pretty amusing seeing them now dump on the guy.
He isn’t worth a dime over Suzuki or Caufield and that’s where the contract demands will breakdown. That’s even if we get to that point because of Winnipegs trade demands.True, but what we consider an $8M player today might be considered as a $9M player next year.
If the cap goes to $88-90M, players are going to rightfully see their new contract values increase.

some wanting to wait until 2024 to see if he comes here has a free agent but alot were offering Florida's 1st ( 17 at the time ) + Beck + roster player ( cap ) which was a fair offer and still is i dont think he was getting a better one at the time but if this rumour of 5/6 teams hes willing to sign with is true then that will for sure help Winnipeg guess will have to wait and see but yes i would be disappointed if we signed Dubois for 9MillFree as in no assets given up to get him. Thats off the table now. He will be signed to a long term deal and traded to whichever of the 6 teams he has on his list that ponies up the best offer. Maybe that offer is small potatos maybe it isn't but he certainly won't be coming to Montreal for nothing if he goes there at all.
Notwithstanding the topic, i, as a habs fan, appreciate the civility in your exchanges lol.
We're hoping Dach can turn it around in the dot because his game is suited for center ; he's relentless and show glimpses of excellent 2 way playing.
1st (Florida) + Harris (decent 5 potentially 4 defenseman) + Ylonen(speedy 3rd line with maybe a little bit of potential)/Mesar/Beck?
Thats a 1st + 2 2nd or even 2 late first + a 2nd.
What would you guys think?
You mean the two munchkins that brought them to the SCF two years ago and were 1 & 3 in points production for their team at 20 and 21 years old?
Habs top 6 also consist of Dach (6’4 220), Anderson, (6’3 218) and also eventually Slafkovsky (6’3 238). I think they will be fine with or without Dubois
I'm not really seeing a lot of value for the Jets here.
Florida's 1st is nearly a second
Harris probably doesn't make the Jets roster at this point in time and at would be stuck in a logjam of young LHD with Heinola and Chisholm.
Ylonen is a depth player who doesn't have much value because you easily find UFA players to do the same job.
Mesar and Beck are younger but point pre game players in the CHL don't usually turn into more than depth players in the NHL. It's not impossible one of them breaks out but at best they are lottery tickets.
I could see something like RHP, Beck (or kidney/Mesar), a 4th and the "lower" (i.e. if one is 12th and the other 13th the 13th) of the Calgary/ Montreal Picks in 2024/2025. already a mess of conditions there so I'm sure there'd be even more that I'd rather not try and type out.I'm not really seeing a lot of value for the Jets here.

Maybe something like Dvorak, Farrell, Mailloux, 1st FLALHD is the last thing the Jets would ask for or take.......Harris likely isn't part of any deal

Essentially, deal would boil down to a Winger whose ready to step in and start the season we're we have a log jam today. A center prospect for the future, a 4th and a 1st
And yes while RHP is small he plays a bit like gallagher and is young
He is also moody, inconsistent and has feuded with the two organizations he's played for (The junior claims are BS). I agree there are positive intangibles about this guy, but there are certainly negative intangibles as well.To reduce his value to just "a 60pt guy" isn't doing him fair justice. I don't see why Dubois is more valuable than Suzuki, who is just as talented, has shown good leadership, is exremely reliable and also has untapped potential. So I'd be disappointed to pay Dubois more money than our captain.
Hopefully we stay away from this guy if the assets required or the contract demanded are unreasonable.
