and if it's to the 5-6 teams he's reportedly interested in signing long term with he will also be traded with an extension

If he says it's Montreal and nowhere else, he brings absolutely nothing back to the Jets. I'm not convinced there are really 5-6 other teams. And if it's Montreal, they need to negociate a long term contract too. Which would be really hard to get the high end if you show all your cards.

Time will tell, but unless Montreal isn't interested for some reason, I'm pretty convinced it's where he's going.

nothing back if it's only mtl? we will be getting rental value back at the very least..

It’s just so hard to find a trade with Montreal. Their roster is just devoid of reasonably tradable players.

No wonder we get shovelled a bunch of slop.

No, I'm not saying they won't get anything back. They will certainly get something, but I think it will be less than a rental. If you were a GM, would you give a lot for a player that wants to play for a specific team? I wouldn't. So unless they sign and trade him (or the other team makes a deal with Brisson), they won't get as much as we think.

I like the Jets, but they've waited too long.

Just to clarify, their vets aka those they are most willing to trade are of low, lower or negative value..........but they do have some valuable pieces just aren't ones they would trade.

"The Dubois camp will submit a list of teams that he would have interest in signing with long-term, maybe five or six teams."

"The plan is for this to be a sign-and-trade, where the Jets sign Dubois to an eight-year contract and then trade him to his new team. Dubois could not get an eight-year deal if he signed directly with that team"

but I guess you want to ignore that to try to make the value lesser..
That's what Chevy is hoping for.

Now, in thos 5-6 teams. Let's say 50% can afford him at 8x8, not a huge market for an bidding war don't you think?

The return for him will be underwhelming and we'll all smile and tel Jets fans we knew!

oh well you wouldn't pay rental value for him so I guess no gm would be willing too... lol

You better believe Chevy is offering PLD to Montreal for 5OA. I wonder how that conversation goes. WPG also picks at 18, maybe they have to get creative.

3 years ago he was traded for the recent 2ndOA - 40 goal scorer - Laine.

Has his value dropped during his time in WPG? Perhaps, but I wouldn't say a ton. He's still only 24 and went 3OA in 2016.

A sign and trade with a deal in place to play in Montreal - say 7 years at 7.5 million. Could make it interesting.
The sticking point is how nasty this draft is. No one wants to give away a golden ticket this year and at 5 there is a ton of talent.
Only way Jeta get #5 is for PLD Perfetti and 18th. Habs don"t trade their shot at a Franchise player for PLD + 18

if a team wants pld they can make the money work this is just such non sense...

vegas wanted eichel and made the money work...
florida wanted tkachuk and made the money work...

Boston can clear cap if the opportunity is there. Ullmark, Hall, DeBrusk, Gryz… they have a bunch of guys that are on positive value contracts on short term. Especially given that WPG wants to make a hockey deal and get players back.
Good point....................I am sure teams will be lining up to help the Bruins out.....

If it's Montréal, I think Jets will get some nice pieces. I fully expect Habs might have to give up Dach. If it isn't Dach, it's going to be a very good prospect like Beck - who might be able to step in and play C for jets next year.
Wondering if Habs would even consider moving Roy.
The Fla pick is obviously in play, but I don't think habs will give both Dach and a 1st.
If Cheveldayoff is looking for pieces on roster outside of Dach, maybe Anderson will waive.
I know Jets fans dislike Dvorak, but he's a cost-controlled 3C.
Jake Evans would also be in play.
I wouldn't discount RHP being made available. He was great in his half year
but there just isn't place for him on the wing.
On D, they might include a Barron, Harris, Trudeau.
habs have a deep prospect pool and there isn't place for all these guys.

He's such a POS
The guy knows where he wants to play. He's going to burn fan bases trying to get there but I can't blame him for that. But the way he's gone about things is brutal. Watching him just quit during shifts in Columbus was surprising to me.

But if I was an athlete in demand I can honestly say there's no f***ing way I'd be willing to spend my winters in Winnipeg.

B

Because Brisson apparently wants to negotiate an 8-year deal, not another cheap, short-term deal. He's played the last 3 seasons on cheap deals, and he wants to cash in before taking any more risks.
Brisson should know his client is a 60 pt guy.................cashing in should likely start with a 7M figure....
Does the kid want to play for a certain team, or is it money he is chasing? Probably both eh.....

Going to be a 60 pt player with a 3.6M dollar cap hit............for 3 more years.

No way Jets get a top prospect like Beck or Dach when they are dealing from a VERY weak position.

FLA 1st rd pick
B prospect (Mysak, Mesar, Tuch, Kapanen, Engstrom,...) or young roster player like Harris due to surplus on Habs side
Cap DUmp (likelly Dvork)

similar to the Horvat deal. and that's it. No top prospect, no top picks, no Roy Baron kidney Beck Hutson.... Worse case Habs wait it a whole year because when you deal from a position of strenght, you need to win the deal

I mean if the Jets want DeBrusk + Gryz (just making something up, Gryz probably isn’t a good fit) as part of the deal to make it a hockey deal…well… salary problem fixed. It’s not hard math. The Bruins are in a unique position of wanting to do a hockey deal when salary goes back and forth, which might match WPG really well.

maybe, but if hughes trades for dubois habs suddenly have too many C's - even for the wing.

Suzuki, Dach, Dubois, Evans, Dvorak...Kidney, Beck on the farm

How is Hall and Debrusk positive value?
Jets won,t trade for Ullmark considering they won,t want another keeper, if they tear it down He has no value

and BOS have no prospect, and terrible picks

You might be right, but if there are other teams he will sign with, they have to up their offer.
And I'm discussing this with the idea that walking away is not the option

DeBrusk scored 27 goals on a 4 million salary in only 60 odd games. What are you talking about?

... That would make the Bruins situation even worse, as the guy coming in will do about as much as the TWO guys going out, and there's not enough cap room to ice a roster now.. let alone with one more spot to fill.

(Unless it's a short-term deal, in which case the Jets can retain, but the Bruins would have to send something else for the retention)

For Boston it’s a long term deal. They would certainly be taking a step back for a year with more youth in the lineup, but they would have a PLD, Pasta core to build around up front. McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo on the backend. And Swayman in net. It would be similar to what they did around 2015 when they became a bubble team for a few years while working on gathering some more support pieces.

Speaking of Swayman, he isn't even signed for next season....
