you are in such denial...
The whole Jets fanbase is.

Thinking you're goign to get a top prospect or a top pick for a guy like Dubois
You might be right, but if there are other teams he will sign with, they have to up their offer.
And I'm discussing this with the idea that walking away is not the option
They won't have to.

Who could offer more? Dubois will likelly want to be traded to a stanley cup team. Those temas have either a terrible prospect pool, or no 1st rd picks. For exemple, Let's say Dubois puts Tampa on his list
1- Can Tampa afford him
2- Does Tampa has rebuilding pieces to send to WIN
3- Do they have a prospect of Mesar / Tuch / Mysal calibre (no they doN,t)

No way Jets get a top prospect like Beck or Dach when they are dealing from a VERY weak position.

FLA 1st rd pick
B prospect (Mysak, Mesar, Tuch, Kapanen, Engstrom,...) or young roster player like Harris due to surplus on Habs side
Cap DUmp (likelly Dvork)

similar to the Horvat deal. and that's it. No top prospect, no top picks, no Roy Baron kidney Beck Hutson.... Worse case Habs wait it a whole year because when you deal from a position of strenght, you need to win the deal
Did you miss the news. Dubois and his agent (Brisson) are open to a sign-and-trade with several teams, not just the Habs.

That's a stronger position than you seem to think. Habs have to beat other teams' trade offers.

you are in such denial...

Wait, you think you're getting Dach for an unsigned RFA one year away from UFA that refuses to sign with you? And he's in denial?

Okay there, buddy.

Jets are the ones running out of racetrack here. Canadiens are in the middle of a rebuild and have no incentive to trade a 6'4" center prospect that showed tremendous growth this season for this guy, decent player that he is.

For Boston it’s a long term deal. They would certainly be taking a step back for a year with more youth in the lineup, but they would have a PLD, Pasta core to build around up front. McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo on the backend. And Swayman in net. It would be similar to what they did around 2015 when they became a bubble team for a few years while working on gathering some more support pieces.
and PLD likelly costs tehm Lysell + their 2024 1st rder + something else.

Is that worth it for the Bruins?

If it's Montréal, I think Jets will get some nice pieces. I fully expect Habs might have to give up Dach. If it isn't Dach, it's going to be a very good prospect like Beck - who might be able to step in and play C for jets next year.
Wondering if Habs would even consider moving Roy.
The Fla pick is obviously in play, but I don't think habs will give both Dach and a 1st.
If Cheveldayoff is looking for pieces on roster outside of Dach, maybe Anderson will waive.
I know Jets fans dislike Dvorak, but he's a cost-controlled 3C.
Jake Evans would also be in play.
I wouldn't discount RHP being made available. He was great in his half year
but there just isn't place for him on the wing.
On D, they might include a Barron, Harris, Trudeau.
habs have a deep prospect pool and there isn't place for all these guys.

Honestly I don't think the Habs now have the pieces to get PLD, let me explain before Habs fans freak out.

Habs aren't likely trading any of their kids on the current Habs roster, Dach, Guhle, etc IMO

Jets don't want a bunch of futures according to reports, so the Habs prospects can't be the big part of any return. As per reports

Habs don't have any vet roster players of any significant value, TBH most are negative or very minor value and I doubt many Habs fans would disagree with that comment. Dvorak borderline low to zero value, Anderson bad contract and low production makes him a contract risk long term and thats not good for a 3rd liner (not to mention his trade clause). Rest of the vets are just plain bad so can't be included in any trade. Evans is closing into UFA range shortly and has had significant injury problems and is 3rd or 4th liner which just don't hold much value in the NHL.

IMO the Habs can't make a competitive offer at this stage either bc they won't trade their good pieces (understandable) and the rest of their roster is bad and the Jets don't want a heavy futures return.

Okay there, buddy.
well considering he's willing to extend long term with 5-6 teams his value is higher then a 1 year rental "buddy" and the denial part i'm talking about is him acting as if montreal is the only team he is willing to go to

They say that's what they'd be willing to do yah.

If his 5 team list is
Tampa
Vegas
Montreal
Florida
NYRangers

How do you think this will end? He can handcuff Chevy that way too if the GM decides to play hardball

Oh, is that what he said? Then they can have him, pal. :)

I have a weird feeling that isn't the case though, chief.

the copium is at an all time high, it's really funny seeing you try so hard to make it seem like it would be impossible for teams to make the salary work when 2 players that got traded in eichel/tkachuk had a higher salary then what pld is going to get in the same flat cap world

Colorado. True contender. Missing Landeskog all of next season. Need a 2C.

Col 1st (better than Habs' 1st from FLA)
Newhook (better than Habs' B prospects)
Could add Olausson or Behrens as additional prospect.
No need for a cap dump

Voila, a better deal for the Jets.

I think you misspelled "Colorado"...

For a team that is elite in all facets of the game but has a center group that is aging out? A lot. But Boston is really only in this if the reports that WPG is looking for a hockey deal are true. Which so many people seem to be ignoring that WPG doesn’t prefer a pile of futures. They want (and need with the size of their TV income) playoff game revenue, not a rebuild.

You do realise Landeskog will be back the season after right? and that they will need to fit him under the cap also. And Sign Toews, AND sign Byram

Please tell me how they accomplish this? They'd prob be happy with Dubois for a year while waiitng for Landy to come back, but if that,s the case they won,t pay that much for a 1 year rental buddy

Why are you blatantly lying?

You have a 5,000 post thread on the Habs forum to talk specifically about Dubois and it has a poll, "Would you rather that the Habs trade for Dubois or instead wait and try to sign him?". Results:

35.8%: Trade and sign him this summer as an RFA
52.5%: Sign him next summer as a UFA
11.7%: He ain't worth either

So, when you say, "Most of the board don't even want his toxic pedigree" and yet, only 11.7% (out of 522 votes) say they don't want him, I think it's HILARIOUS that you're coming here to try and save face.

"Ohhhh... we didn't want him anyway".

BULLSH*T!

LMFAO

the cap is suppose to be going way up after next season and even more the season after that, you are trying so so so hard to make it seem like it will be so hard to make this move when other teams have made moves for bigger money before this..

yeah because habs fans are all in complete denial that a player they been building up in their heads wanted to only play for them may actually be willing to play for other teams

If he does, that's fine. He can go do that. I mean, the player is nice, but he's not a gamebreaker or anything. I won't mortgage the future for him.

Anyway, I guess we'll just see what happens and who gets egg on their face in the end, won't we?

what would it actually take from NYR? I feel like they're just being linked together because 2 years ago the Rangers & Dubois were heavily talked of, but since then we've signed Trocheck so unless the plan is to rid Panarin sooner than later and move Chytil to the wing and bump Tro down to the 3rd line this seems ridicoulous to mention PLD with the Rangers.

He has to sign a contract for next season if the Jets don't trade him and he wants to play in the NHL. Maybe that's just TSN fishing for clicks, but if he refuses to sign, the Jets still own his rights.

You don't seem to want to be my buddy. I'm not sure why you seem so upset right now.

Landeskog might never play again...

Cap is expected to jump by a few million in 2024. Avs could move out salary (e.g. Manson, Girard, Lehkonen). Lots can happen in a year, and top teams always seem to find a way to make cap room for top players.

Depends on the teams he choses, cap considerations, and level of interest for PLD. He's still very young so he might find another gear but he still reminds me of Ryan Johansen when he was that young.
