Hits UFA as the BPA, signs for 7x8 M anyways...

No issue there. He'll go to arb, get another 6M ish deal... He'll be losing 1.5M$ taking the OS... Not 20.
Or hits UFA as a 45-point player who was a constant distraction and only is interested in a select few teams? Perhaps an injury bogs his upcoming season? Suddenly, that eight is starting to look a lot like a seven. Or a six.

Also, arbitration isn't a huge concern, as we could still trade PLD after signing him (or before, for that matter).

Yeah, I don't think you understood my point at all.

The fact that you are lumping Anderson and Gallagher together as if they are similiar somehow tells a lot about how clueless you are though.
Both contracts are toxic waste.

Anderson can score 10, 15, 20 or even 25 goals for the Jets all he wants. All I want is proper compensation for the trashcan-level contracts that we are to take on, regardless of the team we trade with.

5th OA + Gallagher/Anderson for future considerations is a deal I would take. If this feels unreasonable, take a look at the number of trades involving large, long-term contracts from the past couple of years. The market isn't there.
Gallagher's contract would take a fortune to get rid off agree probably one of the worsts in the league right now but not for Anderson obviously hes abit overpaid but hes not a cap dump teams would pay for him ( not a premium ) you might not want him but some GMs would value hes style and size hes a good player to have but yes abit overpaid

You bring up a fair point. Factoring in the OS angle, IMO the return will be roughly TDL or OS value for the return (this return would vary depending on the team)......I think expecting more or significantly more would be unrealistic. IMHO

Talks of Dach, Dach+, 5th OA, etc is wilding unrealistic and I've said that for many months.
Agreed. Montreal shouldn't be pitching a lot of assets at Dubois but I am hoping the francophone angle causes them to do something silly.

OK Hunter... time for you to step up and make your best pitch. Who do you think Dubois is getting traded to and for what? @Junohockeyfan is keeping track for bragging purposes.

I got Dubois to Boston for Swayman and Lysell.

Tavares said the whole year of is last year that he would resigned, then went on and signs with Toronto.
I remember how isle fans were mad about it.
He tricked them in thinking he would stay before he didn't.
He played them , PLD is not
As a NYI fan, I think fellow fans made him a scapegoat in the original biblical sense - he carried out with him all the crap from the Garth Snow era, and allowed NYI to start fresh. But he really didn't deserve that. Any NYI fans who took the robotic Jeter-isms produced by Tavares 2 season after NYI lost Frans Nielsen as indicating that he was going to res-ign either wasn't paying attention, or were deceiving themselves. (Me included. Just try remaining a NYI fan over the years without engaging in significant levels of self-deception.) NYI had a situation where their lame duck GM with an overmatched coach (Dougle 'blowout' Weight who, in retrospect, wasn't 1/2 the coach of Jack Yabba Dabba Capuano - something I think troubled JT) couldn't trade Tavares, and couldn't convince him of the plan going forward to sign him.

NYI fans maintained the ill will towards Tavares because it served our us-against-the-world attitude, and the team really did use that attitude to generate success.

I saw a lot of JT over the years. I saw his body language when he got frustrated, and I saw his decision making deteriorate. I also saw him will the team to victories. When NYI lost, over the years, Nielsen & Moulson, it really set JT adrift, I think. He's a weird guy, and if I had to guess, probably not neurotypical. I don't blame him for it. But he tried, and he cared.

Dubois is not like that at all.

That would give Boston something like minus 1 million for 8 roster spots, and I don't think the NHL authorized pay-to-play schemes yet.

Most Leaf fans won't agree but if he'd sign an extension I'd bring him here.

Reason being is very simple, it would allow to move Tavares to the wing full time.

It also buys Toronto time to build up their center prospects because they having NOTHING down the middle In their prospect pool.

greenie here has other things to do with his life, pld would be served well because he can take less for a 1 year deal which ties the jets hands if they match, jets can not trade him than lose pld for nothing, because offer sheet match players can not be traded for 1 full year. if pld goes to the habs he can get a front loaded contract on the extended 8 year deal , something like what carolina did with kk, but only reversed money wise, kk got a lot to sign for 1 year than extended for less on longer deal, habs can offer sheet pld for next to no compensation than sign him to a 8 year extended deal front loaded which would use some of the upcoming cap space short term ,but lower cap hit over duration of contract, no one is paying what the jets want otherwise pld would have been dealt last year, jets are only going to get low ball offers for 1 year of pld.
Jets could eliminate that scenario by team elected arbitration.

This would not allow any team to give PLD an offer sheet!

PLD agent has indicated that he will not sign an offer with Winnipeg. PLD owes 1 year of service….b4 becoming a UFA… By enacting Team elected arbitration …. They have taken back control of where PLD plays next year and will extend the window of where they trade him until late July early August. If this game of chicken goes all the way to arbitration he has to play for the jets and the new window to trade him starts after December 31 st!

PLD does not want to play 1 more season on a 1 year contract… in case he gets hurt/ plays like crap next year and tanks his value. He wants a 8 year deal that guarantees him $$$ for the rest of his life!

This will get PLD to give the Jets 10 options of where he will be willing to sign long term!

The Habs will be out in the cold / left holding the bag ( of poop)/ with no seat to sit down on when the music stops playing. (The music that stops playing will be that weenie French song that the Hab fans sing in the stands when they think they are winning)!

Or any GM understands that due to his conflicts with management of the Jets, PLD wasn't put in a position to succeed.

And anyways, he hits UFA next summer he's still the best player on the Market. He'll make more than enough $ to compensate the fact he signed a 4.25 OS to stick it to the Jets who decides to he greedy and think they could trade him for a 1st and a top prospect.

Horvat was dealt for a late 1st (NYI were in a playoff spot when traded) a B prospect and a cap dump in Beauvilier. Jets fans thinking a worse player will get a better return are delusional.

The issue with a 4.25 offer sheet is that the Jets could pretty much match it only to make a point because they'd only be missing on a 2nd rounder.

he is a human being with feeling, he was pissed off he made a mistake that he could not take back.
No big deal here , just treat people with respect , Tort was a ass
Torts is well known to be loved by most players. Even when PLD reflects back on some of Torts conversations about being better he still smiles and seems to think he was right. I think there is more to the story than just how Torts coached him.

Torts was daring PLD to come out with the real reason for his unhappiness in Columbus by the end.

Nah. You just can't lump them together like that.

Gallagher is one of the worst contracts in the league. He's done as a player and he's making 6.5M until his mid 30s. That's Ladd and Eriksson levels of toxic waste.

But Anderson is a useful player, and he will be only 32 when the last year of his contract starts. He's fast, physical and will score 20-25 goals per year. You can say he's a little overpaid, but he's not a cap dump let alone toxic waste.

Yah, but doing so they can't trade hom at the TDL and he walks free.

I'm Kent hughes I go.

Look PL. We're going to hand you a 4.25 OS, and give you a 8x8 extension at the the end of the year.

Jets match = PLD walks free and Jets get nothing
Jets don't they get a 2nd
Jets trade him now : they get a late 1st a B prospect and a cap dump (like Horvat)

Those are the only 3 scenario

Says the people who live in Montreal and have been nowhere else. Lol. It's called bias.

People go to Vegas, NYC, and LA to party (in NA).. not Montreal. That's a fact, not an opinion.

Do you guys think LA Ronde is better than Disney too?

Lol you guys are funny. Take the homer glasses off and live a little.

What? Montreal is a pretty big party destination in North America especially for young people with the 18 year old legal drinking age in Quebec. I've gone there just to party about 8 different times myself.

It is easy to shrug it off when your team is benefitting. It is difficult enough getting players to Winnipeg (and other small markets) without players and their agents sabotaging the team's ability to get a fair return in trading the player.

at least you are not loosing him for nothing. Tavares, Gaudreau left without their team getting anyting at all.
Indeed you might not get what PLD is worth but you'll get something.
think about that.

That has to be against the CBA.

We match without hesitation.

Then he has to deal with the fact that 1) he's stuck in Winnipeg for the year, 2) he's playing for a team that has zero long-term plans regarding him (and vice versa, too), 3) he has all of his next contract to play for on a terrible team, and 4) he already took a hefty pay cut to get to that situation. If he's not happy with it, better not throw a tantrum, because the big payday is yet to come.

He'll get out eventually. But by f***ing around with lowball offer sheets, there are multiple paths to losing 10-20 million of career earnings that he can never get back, regardless of the jersey he's wearing come 2024.
His agent already said he’s going to help facilitate a trade. Stop arguing with idiots.
