Exactly!!

When Lou Lam was here Shanny let him run his own show and make the rules and didn't tell him what to do, as he respected Lou based on his past resume and achievements. Likely viewed him more as an equal, whereas Dubas would now will be more a subordinate and do Shanny's bidding.
You're mistaken if you think Dubas is a push over.

Sorry but it is true. Maybe it will come out maybe not but I trust who I heard it from.

I hope Dubas does fantastic as I am a life long Leaf fan and trust Shanny I was just hoping for someone with more of a track record. Remember I was not in favour of either.

Dubas will get my support until he does something to lose it. Go Dubas!
Well I do not. This is a guy who does not, like some would make you think, rely solely on stats, and when he does talk stats he has the know-how to go way deeper than just some possession stats. It sounds like complete bull. Not saying Dubas didn't want Strome, but I don't buy that reasoning.

Thumbs up for the rest though. All we can do is hope for the best.

That's true. I think we're going to see a lot of internal moves from the Marlies and people Dubas has brought in who are doing well.
Super interested in how he uses the massive cap space this off season.

I would love to see Holl in the leafs line up. I've been a fan since he hit the Marlies.

What a stupid f***ing narrative this one is. If shanny wanted power he’d make himself gm. My god people who are against this really are heading way out the deep end

I don't view him a push over, but rather a good team player and now another person towing the company line and fulfilling the requirements of the Shanaplan.

Dubas fits in nicely with the "Team" aspect of managing the Leafs as the named GM. I expect in terms of advanced analytics that Kyle will bring his own specialty component to the management team and make his contribution felt in other ways that hopefully benefit the Leafs on the ice. Advanced Stats Dubas specialty will become more prominent in decison making as he makes the case behind who is being signed and or traded for, with the #'s backing up the decision not just the eye test of the player(s) in question.

I'm expecting this move to take the Leafs in a more "Moneyball" type direction (or Moneypuck in this case) from the GM chair.

You couldn't easily bring in an experienced GM and tell him to take a back seat and need approval on many normal GM decisions.

Will judge him on his accomplishments but I admit I might not be qualified to assess his value given the long lineup of crap GM's the leafs have had in the past. I will be particularly critical of overpaid 7 year deals to players who can't pinch or shoot straight.

Mess is ridiculous. The other day he posted about Clutch Fletcher being our GM and doesn't comment as to why that would be a good choice.

Hes off his rocker. If the Leafs were to hire anyone else he wouldn't be singing this tune. Hes stuck in the old boys era.

Salt this tweet is stupid babcock has final say on roster decisions he would know of holl and if he likes him he would play. He played 2 games already I think he probably liked him from those games. Dubas doesn’t increase holls odds at all really

Not sure why he didn't get more of a look this year
Maybe a numbers game? Borgman was pretty good to start the season, not better than dermott and polak was sitting there waiting.
Holl didn't need waivers and I wouldn't want him sitting so back to the Marlies with him.
I hope he at least gets a longer look next season. I'm most interested to see what Dubas does with the defence as I think the forwards are a good core and just needs tinkering and experience.

probably also worth pointing out that Strome's fate is a long way from decided yet, he just had the kind of 20yo AHL season that would paint him as having a high probability of becoming a quality scoring NHL'er with the upside to be a star. Marner looks like the best of that Strome-Hanifin-Marner tier right now, but their places on the totem pole are a long way from being set in stone. Maybe Strome puts it together and becomes Jason Spezza, that would certainly blur some lines of who's the best of that group

When examining things like this, while pick location is important, you also have to look at how many opportunities they had. I mean, Boston has had 6 first rounders and 11 top 60 picks in total. Leafs have had at best 4 first rounders (if you consider they traded down for Dermott) and in total 7 top 60 picks (but you can count Bracco as a 2nd which makes it 8).

And of course where you pick does matter, you hope with a 1st. overall you don't have to wait long.

Ya not saying odds increase for Holl or not, just stating I personally would love to see him up with the big boys.

I wonder if they announced this today so people would ignore the Raptors firing the coach?
