32 points in 57 games, -8. Not good enough
Finished with 29 in 42 after a brutal 3 in his first 15.

AgreedVery good chance that he has played his last game as a Duck IMO.
I think the return will underwhelm a lot of people. Something similar to the rumored Montreal trade last year...a pick and a prospect. As an example, I could see Verbeek going back to the well with Philly (who desperately needs a center) for one of their later 1sts and a prospect like RHD Oliver Bonk.I don’t think he’ll be a Duck either. I do think we’ll lose any trade involving him too.
I think everyone wants to see Zegras succeed but it is becoming pretty clear that Anaheim is not the place where that is going to happen. And another thing to consider...after next season he becomes an RFA WITH arbitration rights. That could get really messy and in the worst case situation could lead to the Ducks not accepting an arbitrator's award and letting him go to UFA status. Not saying that will happen but Verbeek just may feel it is time to cut bait with him. We'll see.I hate the idea of trading Zegras, and selfishly it's because I think he's the kind of player to absolutely explode after being traded to a team that actually wants him and can give him the room to play the way he's most comfortable. Not like a top 10 player in the league, but definitely better than what his past few years have been.
And that idea absolutely sucks.
Ya this.I don’t think he’ll be a Duck either. I do think we’ll lose any trade involving him too.
He's a smallish, non-physical center who's being asked to be a forechecking, win board battles winger. Why wouldn't that work?Zegras will be gone. I would like to give him at least to the TDL next year to show that he can be an impact player in this league.
Cronin is not a good coach. But anyone blaming Cronin for why a nearly $6m 24 year old can’t find his game is delusional.
If injuries have hindered Zegras, then it comes down to short or long term. If Zegras has lost his elusiveness long term, then he is toast.
He doesn’t have the speed to avoid pressure and right now he is just a sitting duck, pun or not intended, against bigger players. His puck mgmt has been horrible.
If he is playing this way because of spite against Cronin and Mgmt, I don’t really want him as it is only hurting the team.
He held out to get more money and, regardless of why, he needs to show that he was right in holding out. So far he has been a black hole.

Not that he has to bulk up like crazy, but he has to at least get to a Terry type level with some small measure of strength where he can get hit and not automatically get knocked off the puck.
Ok but I’m not talking about Terry’s style of play. I’m talking about at least getting to his level physically, where he won’t ever be the strongest guy out there, but he won’t be the weakest either.Except he better not develop the Terry skate around. For me Troy Terry has been one of the biggest disappointments.
If Cronin is dictating Terry’s play then that is the most egregious coaching issue. I cringe every time Troy touches the puck because sooner or later he will skate himself into losing it.
His role is to skate the puck in, when necessary, find the “open” man not one 3ft from him, go to the soft spots and score.
In the cycle he needs to get the puck and move it and get in position to score.
Troy Terry needs to realize he is not, nor will he ever be, a center in the NHL.

I'm sure coaches around the league would be lining up to coach a group of guys who will throw them under the busI just hope all of our actual cornerstone pieces will use the exit interviews to completely shit on Cronin and his staff, so that these clowns get the axe instead of trading players who actually know hockey and can -and under the right coaching WILL- be elite NHL players. While Zegras may never be truly elite, he sure as hell is going to be a bonafide top-six forward and a player that gets asses into the seats.
You seem to imply those players will throw any/every coach under the bus. I choose to believe they won't.I'm sure coaches around the league would be lining up to coach a group of guys who will throw them under the bus
Hyperbole much. Cronin is, by far, the worst coach in the league right now. I am quite sure he would have been shown the door in pretty much every other franchise by now, and there would have been a lot of dirty laundry washed out in public if he were coaching, say, an O-6 team.I'm sure coaches around the league would be lining up to coach a group of guys who will throw them under the bus
