Bull**** he has no track record. A. GM experience & Awesome OHL GM results.

David Poile before his first GM job: A. GM. Record of 15 seasons with Washington: 594-454-124

Yzerman before TBL: VP job with Wings, nothing worth more than A. GM experience, TBL record speaks for itself.

Funny how people expect somehow for GMs to have 3 Cups before hiring them. I'd rather hire a new guy with potential over someone that's had a .500 record or less over the past 10 years.

And boy is saying "he is young" as a negative dumb without any supporting reason for him not being a good fit based on that.

this is driving me nuts. I haven't read anything at all that we need a GM won 3 cups to take the job. What most people wanted was Shanahan to take the time to look at all avenues before hiring Dubas. Or that having a GM that only has 3 years in the NHL might not be the very best idea. Ironically you would rather hire someone with potential vs someone who had .500 record for ever. Which means, you wouldn't want to have someone like Rutherford who was seen as crap FYI, but won 2cups in 3 years. that argument can work both ways.

also. people saying "he is young" is the same when people screaming "Lou is old!" when he got hired. (or if they hired someone else, people would have other issues.

All i want to hear is that Shanahan took the time (that he had) to look at all options. if he didn't then quite frankly that is what will make me mad not the fact that "Dubas is young."

why look at all options when you have the best available gm in dubas?

And of course where you pick does matter, you hope with a 1st. overall you don't have to wait long.
I mentioned pick location matters. I just mean, I don't think Boston drafted particularly well in the time framed mentioned. They had 6 top 60 picks in arguably the deepest draft in recent memory. It is also the oldest draft from the time frame mentioned (therefore the most likely one to provide multiple NHLers).

Higher than director of scouting and assistant gm? So basically a team will make him a gm? Possible although I will say 2 teams interviewed Dubas and 0 hunter as far as I know. And if a team makes him gm they take away his best asset getting out there and scouting in the rinks
when did scouting become his greatest and it seems by many his only asset ?

you should take a look at the many trades he made while with the Knights as well as how he was able to convince many top prospects to come to his team

huh? what has dubas being the gm to do with justin holl playing on the leafs? if babcock says no, he's not gonna play on our team.
I mean Dubas could trade away Carrick and not resign Polak. At that point I would hope Holl gets a shot lol

This girl gets it.

I don't view him a push over, but rather a good team player and now another person towing the company line and fulfilling the requirements of the Shanaplan.

Dubas fits in nicely with the "Team" aspect of managing the Leafs as the named GM. I expect in terms of advanced analytics that Kyle will bring his own specialty component to the management team and make his contribution felt in other ways that hopefully benefit the Leafs on the ice.

You couldn't easily bring in an experienced GM and tell him to take a back seat and need approval on many normal GM decisions.

Thankfully, the era of Burke's blunders are in the past.

Need more than unbridled bluster to win in today's NHL.

I wonder if they announced this today so people would ignore the Raptors firing the coach?
ignore Casey being fired ?

lol , go to Real GM and you'll see the majority of Raps fans are thrilled he was fired

This is just stupid. I couldn't care less whether Dubas is young or not. He's not a prospect who will develop and become twice as good in a few years. It shouldn't factor in more or less at all.

I do like that he's supposedly a tireless worker though, but a lot of that is his character. Not a youth thing.

Oh, forgot. Wasn't the info out there that they were primarily looking at Dubas/Hunter, but the reason it took time was that they really went through all options first?

I have guided the Leafs to multiple cups on Eastside Hockey Manager and I am the same age as Dubas why didn't they pick me? Maybe my application got lost in the mail...Anyway I support Dubas as the GM and he has plenty of experienced people around him should he need some assistance.

Nature of the business I think. I can't imagine there are any lazy front office execs posting on HF pretending to work.......or maybe there is??

exactly.
(though i don't know if you are saying i was dumb, because i was yelling about that was a silly idea LOL)
