Except your using it to diminish legit accomplishments. The Knights aren't the Knights because they paid people. They executed a massive shift and have become the most respected organization in the CHL. Top kids want to play for them, because they get those kids drafted high, and have a very strong developmental track record. Its the same reason kids are willing to go to Halifax.

Plus, having done my undergrad in London. Its not a bad place to live as 16 to 20 year old, and sure as hell beats North Bay, Owen Sound, Flint, Saginaw etc.

Ya we all have the right to complain. But some seem to only post their complaints and seldom post the brighter side of life

yea, I don't understand the complaining and hate on this. We knew this was happening 3 years ago. Did you not prepare yourself for it???

Something a bunch of OHL teams do? I mean, at least Gagner coached the team, unlike Michael Nylander who's coaching consisted of running one on one drills with Alex and yelling at him in Swedish on the bench.

The Knights were turned around in great fashion and it wasn't due to paying players. They didn't pay for that 2004 team.

Congrats to Kyle.
Just hope he is not getting players solely based on stats, as his first couple of signings/trades were pretty much AHL players.
 
I think Dubas will be good at most aspects of the job my only concern comes to trades, being a rookie GM is hard, being one that younger than I think everyone else is harder. I don't think his age matters but he won't command the initial respect Lou had.

That being said maybe he's able to see treasure where the other GM only see's trash. Should make for an interesting off season at any rate.

It's also kind of funny this was announced the morning the Jets make the final and it's now the only thing people are really talking about this morning.

Well he's been good with the Marlies, close contact with Lou the last 3 years, other clubs have shown interest in him, a shining star before he joined the leafs, Shanny has faith in him, I got to think this is good until he screws up.

It was my fault he thought I was seriously attributing everything hunter has done for the London knights down to secret payments of players. Some how he thinks I love Dubas and am discrediting hunter to prop up dubas so he added a bunch other players he thinks are immune from criticsm. Despite 3 threads criticizing Matthews right now of course

True, but some of the moves were pretty close to the line.
If you think I am anti Hunter, you are mistaken. Win at all costs, but lets not pretend the Hunters are beyond reproach.

Kyle Dubas will be playing "Moneypuck" from the Leafs GM chair.

When there is a player personnel change its likely analytics and advanced stats the driving force behind the transaction.

For example when Leafs add a Dman its not just his goals and assists, but rather successful zone exits or shot prevention/suppression or shot differential or whats his Corsi/Fenwick and PDO numbers and bang for your contract buck type underlying #'s playing and influencing decisions.

It will be interesting to see what his philosophies are. Does he care at all about lefty/righty pairings? He may just load Babcock up with a bunch of lefties.

I know a lot of us would like Doughty/Karlsson/Tavares but depending how analytical Dubas is, it would make no sense for us to sign any of them. Traditionally, analytics say to stay away from the big contract FAs as statistically speaking all of those players are either exiting or have already passed their prime.

To be fair the though, bold 1 is more so a function of ownership, bold 2 pure circumstance, and combined they do kind of diminish the accomplishments of the track record. His ability to identify talent is one thing, the way they turned that organization around is another, but being able to draft no brainer kids 10-20-30-40 slots lower than their talent dictates does kind of put a blemish on the genius.

As I said I don’t care who got the gm squad so assuming im a dubas homer is stupid. I have criticized every person on that list you provided when they deserved it. So I guess if you want to interpret things wrongly and attribute “homer” status to someone, you have just shown you don’t care if it’s true or not so the order doesn’t really matter does it

Theres a lot more that goes into the decision than just looking at what they did in the OHL... That should only be a minimal factor.

I really like the cowboy hat thing. It would look like a team of Eddie Shack's out there. What could go wrong?
Also if Matthews can't come into next season being 25, what kind of talent is he really? I mean mcdavid could probably do it.

City slickers 4: hot tub time machine and Matthews becomes 25

Not sure id go to the cinema to watch it but I’d probably rent on iTunes
