At any rate.
Congrats to Kyle Dubas.
17th GM in Franchise history.
May the wind be at your back and here is to savvy trades, insightful decisions, and cup wins.

i mean, dubas is 31/32, he definitely doesn't need anyone to hold his hand, but there is nothing with him getting some support and/or advice from shanahan during a big contract negotiation. like, nothing. i do not get why people complain about stuff like this.

I'll be interested to see why he was chosen over Hunter specifically - just by going by the OHL stuff it's not really comparable.

Also if it's true that Hunter would be leaving, it would squash the idea he was just happy to be a scout.

The world we live in. Complaining is now the human condition

Yeah, for sure. I would be disappointed if Dubas didn't care for the input from the people around him.

Important to remember on this topic though that Dubas has probably been in many more contract negotiations than Shanahan. The idea that Shanahan would need to help him through it is just ignorant.

You can put bags of money under the table in the nhl?
If you think that is the only reason the Knights are good you are misinformed. Plus, they have never been officially caught such as Windsor and Portland.

The Knights were turned around before the allegations of paying players even existed. The Hunter's turned around that franchise. That happened partially due to the increase in revenue's due to the JLC opening, but they did the groundwork. That 2004 super-team was good drafting, a change of culture and smart moves.

Even now, when CHL teams aren't going to risk paying anyone due to on-going litigation, they have created a culture in which top prospects want to go to them. Antonio Stranges turned down the USNTDP to play for the Knights. Jack Hughes would had done the same if he slipped to them.

Guys like Dvorak didn't show up there because they were paid. I also don't think it made a lick of difference for someone like Matthew Tkachuk.

It is always the risk of the lack of experience becoming a problem, but it's still going to be a decision by committee anyways.

I think he's a better choice than Hunter. More experience with a GM type of role, less biased, more focused upon analytics and bringing in intelligent hockey players, not just good hockey players. That's the difference between us and teams that beat us right now.

Kind of funny people going out of there way to diminish Hunter's contributions are the same lauding what a great job Kyle did with an AHL club where the GM doesn't do contracts, makes any meaningful trades and get players they had no say in drafting. I mean come the eff on.

So he leaves he leaves, this isn’t the end of the world.

Pridham will be the main guy in negotiations. Like he has since we hired him.
