Did they wait for Babcock to get out of town before announcing this?

The dude ranch plan! It's a 5 year cattle drive which changes with each new dogie!
I really like the cowboy hat thing. It would look like a team of Eddie Shack's out there. What could go wrong?
Also if Matthews can't come into next season being 25, what kind of talent is he really? I mean mcdavid could probably do it.
To quote the old Senor Martinez we gonna be some bad hombres next year with this look. People will be scared of our rear ends something fierce. Clint Eastwood spaghetti western look. You don't puck battle a guy with a 6 shooter. Especially since you only have 5 skaters on the ice. Gonna lose large.

If you think that is the only reason the Knights are good you are misinformed. Plus, they have never been officially caught such as Windsor and Portland.

The Knights were turned around before the allegations of paying players even existed. The Hunter's turned around that franchise. That happened partially due to the increase in revenue's due to the JLC opening, but they did the groundwork. That 2004 super-team was good drafting, a change of culture and smart moves.

Even now, when CHL teams aren't going to risk paying anyone due to on-going litigation, they have created a culture in which top prospects want to go to them. Antonio Stranges turned down the USNTDP to play for the Knights. Jack Hughes would had done the same if he slipped to them.

Guys like Dvorak didn't show up there because they were paid. I also don't think it made a lick of difference for someone like Matthew Tkachuk.

Boy, oh boy, is your head so firmly in the sand. They never got caught, therefore they weren't involved

They wrote the book on what Windsor and Portland got pinched for. It's happened as recently as this past draft. It was happening back in the days of the turn-around too.

As I said I don’t care who got the gm squad so assuming im a dubas homer is stupid. I have criticized every person on that list you provided when they deserved it. So I guess if you want to interpret things wrongly and attribute “homer” status to someone, you have just shown you don’t care if it’s true or not so the order doesn’t really matter does it
never called you part of the homer flame squad , i'm just asking if you know the pecking order ?

and if you don't , i'd be thankful if those who are part of the squad (you know who you are) compile the list and post it for me

Kyle Dubas will be playing "Moneypuck" from the Leafs GM chair.

When there is a player personnel change its likely analytics and advanced stats the driving force behind the transaction.

For example when Leafs add a Dman its not just his goals and assists, but rather successful zone exits or shot prevention/suppression or shot differential or whats his Corsi/Fenwick and PDO numbers and bang for your contract buck type underlying #'s playing and influencing decisions.
Sure worked for Vegas hasn't it?

To be fair the though, bold 1 is more so a function of ownership, bold 2 pure circumstance, and combined they do kind of diminish the accomplishments of the track record. His ability to identify talent is one thing, the way they turned that organization around is another, but being able to draft no brainer kids 10-20-30-40 slots lower than their talent dictates does kind of put a blemish on the genius.
But, you have to respect him for creating a culture that people want to be a part of. Iti s a big thing when recruiting and trying to add to your team. It does somewhat diminish the later drafting, but they didn't get to that spot without putting in amazing groundwork. Its not like he inherited the Yankees. Hitting on picks like Corey Perry and Dave Bolland, while making smart moves to acquire Syvret and Schremp is what made that franchise. They were also smart early on in believing they could recruit Americans over and drafting "unsignable" ones in later rounds. It worked for Kane and Tkachuk, but they also had misses like Werenski.

So he leaves he leaves, this isn’t the end of the world.

No, but for the longest time we wanted a capable scouting staff that we could have confidence in (remember those days) - we put together a pretty good one, and now possibly the guy at the top of that could walk (possibly other follow if he goes to another NHL team) I'm sorry if that leaves me or anyone one else a little bit sceptically about what comes after, for me it's very likely the most important thing to our organization - especially given that we have the main pieces here already and finding young/cheap player supplement them will be key.

What year is it? 1890? We are hoping the carrier pidgeon doesn’t make it to Arizona so he finds out
Telegram for Mr. Babcock.
Holy ****!
Somebody get me to the train station and don't spare the whip son!

I know the Knights aren't innocent. But, it absolutely didn't happen with Stranges. No CHL team is doing that stuff right now with their books being open due to litigation.

Analytics being held up as a bad thing for Dubas only highlights the fear that emanates from the 'old boys club' of being left behind. There is nothing to suggest he only cares about analytics. His AHL team is riddled with veteran guys with strong intangibles. He's clearly not an analytics only guy... in fact, he's clearly said it's a small portion of his overall valuation.

To minimize Dubas' mentality as a GM to 'analytics' is insulting to him, and also displays a lack of intuition on the part of those forwarding this argument.

They still manipulate the draft, there's still backdoor wining and dining. Don't be silly.

Right but who is hiring new scouting staff? Are we bringing back nonis and Burke to hire them? Or is shanny and dubas doing it, if so do we have any evidence of them screwing up a hiring like that?

Players want to go there due to development. No team is paying players right now due to the ongoing lawsuit with the litigation they are facing from former players.

You think if they were to go outside the rules it would be in the balance sheet? It's a little more creative than that.

probably also worth pointing out that Strome's fate is a long way from decided yet, he just had the kind of 20yo AHL season that would paint him as having a high probability of becoming a quality scoring NHL'er with the upside to be a star. Marner looks like the best of that Strome-Hanifin-Marner tier right now, but their places on the totem pole are a long way from being set in stone. Maybe Strome puts it together and becomes Jason Spezza, that would certainly blur some lines of who's the best of that group
Stome struggled keeping up in the NHL and as the league is getting faster not slower he will up against it to be anything other then a supporting player unless his foot speed increases a lot. I have not seen him play lately but he is a work in progess

No, but with the private investigators and other such investments by the plaintiffs, teams are not going to be reckless right now by paying for players considering what is potentially at stake (which is junior players getting paid minimum wage, which would kill teams bottom lines).
