Shows just how bad many of the bottom six are on this team that Stafford has come in and already contributed meaningfully in a few games more than many of the pylons on the team have contributed in months of play.

Sweeney sucks terrible trade

Why do you hate DS so much?:sarcasm: He's always spoken very highly of you!?!

As happy as I am with the Stafford aquisition and how it turned out, I don't see the need to resign him. We have enough talented forwards in our system who will come cheap and probably turn out to be better than Stafford, so there's no need to spend money on him and deprive one of our prospects of a roster spot.

I hear you but as others have pointed out there's no guarantee that they'll develop enough to be able to handle the day to day rigours of NHL hockey.
Stafford is a hard working, smooth skating pro who will contribute even if it isn't every day there's something to be said for leadership.

Will end up a 4th.

Still a bargain compared to some of the deadweight etc that we've seen over the year. For a last moment acquisition he was was heck of a steal! During his days in Buffalo he was an absolute Bruins killer for some reason. I can only imagine if Montreal or Ottawa got him and then the B's faced them in the playoffs and he absolutely put the nail in the coffin every game against us!:amazed: Better that he's on our payroll, at least for the present than on theirs.

Interesting thread on Main Boardabout 10 year anniversary of a line brawl when Chris Neill cold cocked Chris Drury.

Have a little panel video with Andrew Peters, M Biron, Rob Ray -- talking about what happened.

They tip hat to first guy to immediately drop mitts with Neill right after hit.

That Sabre? Bostons 4 points in 4 games pickup Drew Stafford.

Nice.

Videos are worth a look if only to see Ruff trying to climb over glass to conront Brian Murray.

He's filled a big hole for us as a middle 6 guy who has provided some very timely depth scoring, though he's had his minutes cut in the past couple games

Really? Other than Philly putting it its own net what "timely" scoring are you talking about?

Guys as advertised to me, half the time hardly even know he's playing. Hopefully he goes on one of these scoring streaks when it still matters

- Setup the game winner against New Jersey on a beautiful back door feed to Spooner
- Setup the opening goal and scored the insurance goal against Detroit.
- Sprung his linemates for the 2-on-0 insurance goal against Calgary.
- Scored a critical game winning goal against Philly with 5 seconds left for a point which may be the difference in the Bruins reaching the playoffs or not

In fact, all 5 of his points as a Bruin have been timely, with a few of them absolutely critical.

Going to need more than that if we are going to make the playoffs. He was acquired to fill a gap and score goals. So far meh. Like I said hopefully he shows up on the GOAL scoring sheet more often in the next 9. Very average player at best, can see why the Jets had no spot for him.

???? what?

He was brought in to bump Jimmy Hayes out of the top 9. For a bloody 6th round pick!!! Mission accomplished!

Not to mention his .54 ppg ranks 5th amongst Bruin forwards, trailing only the big 4. That trade owes us nothing already if that Philly goal holds up and gets us into the playoffs. If he keeps both scoring and creating goals at the pace he has we've knocked it out of the park.

I'm shocked that you're negative on yet another player. Shocked.

Stafford has done exactly what he was brought in here to do. Play in the top 9, and get one of Hayes/Beleskey out of the lineup. The fact that he's chipped in with 5 points since being acquired is gravy.

You're not satisfied unless he scores 3 goals every 9 games? You think we traded a 6th round pick for a 27 goal guy?

I was negative before this guy played a game, don't like him as a player never did.

Im just as negative with my usuals as well. Nothing is going to change my opinion on them. If they blow this and don't get in my list will grow

Then Im sure I will be kicked off the board

Stafford is a JAG, but he is a better JAG than (current) Beleskey or Hayes. He was worth the 6th round pick, but I hope the people that were talking about re-signing him after a couple good games to start have learned their lesson.

Not at all I know what we got for a sixth rounder. to say he has added "timely"
scoring and had filled out our top six is a farce. He stinks as bad as Hayes

can't think of a single reason why he should be playing line 2, and Chelarik should be in providence. none whatsoever.

I've liked Stafford so far, especially early on. But no doubt he's been much less noticeable in recent games. Coincidentally, he just became a father of twins.. and I'm guessing the family is not yet with him in Boston. That's got to weigh on him and impact his on ice play to some degree.

Makes me wonder if management considered this kind of thing.

I think he`s been decent, also think that it`s not just what he`s done on the ice but the chaos he must have been going through off the ice which HAS to affect his focus. For as much as I like to say these guys make _____ amount of dollars and nothing should affect their play, fact is, they have lives/families and real life situations outside of the game

Stafford traded, wife pregnant with twins, she`s at home (not sure where that is), he`s on planes trying to get to his new team. Wife gives birth to the twins, he flies to be with her, spends time with her and their newest additions to their family. His game looks how I imagine he feels, tired and distracted at times

Not attempting to make excuses but more look at possible external factors that "may" be affecting his game

All that said, think he`s been in Boston about 10 games, 5-6pts, with all that`s going on away from the rink, for a conditional 6th round pick, not too bad

How about the fact that Cehlarik had disappeared and had only 8 shots on net in 11 games and 0 goals and 2 assists?

agreed, while I definitely liked some things I saw from him, still needs to work on other areas. Now, that said, is he or would he be a better option than either Beleskey or Hayes?
