If anyone hampers the Bruins cap, it will be Matt Beleskey, not Jimmy Hayes.

At worst Jimmy can be buried where a significant portion of his cap hit can be buried and an ELC type player can take his place.

As well Jimmy will be in the final year of his deal, so there will be no long Term impact there either.

Since this is the Stafford thread. I would be more receptive to keeping him next season if he plays well, if they can ditch both Beleskey and Hayes opening up two slots. As well I wouldn't want anything over 2 years and would prefer it to be 1. Bruins have more than enough Wingers coming up in the system they don't need people bogging them down.

I see what your saying and don't dispute any of it but Belesky is coming off an injury and is still a better choice than JH! Hayes has no reason to suck. I myself would love to see Domo and DS resigned next year, but the other positions I would reserve for any prospect that is up to taking it!

Guy has solid puck presence. Very active in all zones. Def not a passenger. Seems to fit right in. Whats not to like.

Yeah 3 points in 3 games and should be 4! Big and hard to knock off the puck, what's not to like.
I'm sure someone will be cranky with the 6th Rd pick Donny gave away though!
Honestly , I haven't been put out with any move DS made at the time he made them and as another smart poster mentioned - hindsight is 20 / 20!

Stafford may not have ideal speed or size, but his biggest asset is experience. He won't be rattled down the stretch and he has a history of being a streaky guy that can be very effective when he gets hot. He's not afraid to get his nose dirty or go to the net.

He is such a breath of fresh air from Hayes and belesky. He was so calm on his goal. He settle that bouncing puck down off his skate. And simply flicked it top shelf. If it were Hayes or belesky :help: don't even wanna know .
Krejci was Dr jekyll last game. Mr Hyde tonight. He looked so calm with the puck. 2 beautiful goals.
And of course from what I've read on the main board "the greatest player on the planet":sarcasm: 2 more goals. Just unreal what this kid has become. I remember when he came up from Providence. I liked him he was fast with decent hands(well now sick mitts), and got under guys skin. Major props to the kid for becoming the player he has. I honestly feel now anytime he's on the ice there's a good chance he will score same with pasta. In all seriousness though with Marchand he's definitely a top 5 player this year, and as I said on the main board I don't think he is being seen on that level for two reasons.
1. Anyone not a Bs fan hates him.
2. He's gotten to this level at an older age.

He's done this now for 2 years I say if he does it again next year you can't deny him that label anymore.

Wow I barely ever post. This is easily my longest ever !

I know it's probably too early to even be thinking about this, but what the heck: is Stafford someone we ought to consider signing for next year? I would imagine he'd could be signed for less than he's making now.

I never make assumptions when it comes to contracts going down. I'd certainly consider resigning him on a 1 or 2 year deal in the less than 3 million range.

Of course on the other hand, you do also have to leave some space for your young players to actually make the team in the future

People Stafford has a long established history. We are talking about him like he's a rookie with no track record

People who write off 31 year old because of a bad season on a bad team usually look like fools. Stafford has been a steady 20 goal scorer so offensive talent is to be expected.

But Stafford has never been someone a winning team can count on to give solid consistent effort in the top 6

Enjoy if he plays well... He's certainly capable of it... But also expect bad games. He's no savior but he should be an upgrade over Hayes or be belesky and that's ok

He looks plenty big on the ice to me. He's no crash and banger but he's not gonna be knocked off the puck.

Best ever 6th round pick spent (bumps to galactic level when compared to the 3rd we spent on Rinaldo, sometimes ago).

We shall see how it plays out but, for now, 6th round pick is nothing so let's enjoy the upgrade.

That said, lets be fair. He's not played on winning teams. Over his 700+ NHL career he's played 24 playoff games -- 10 of which were in his rookie season, 10 years ago.

8 years of basically crap hockey in Buffalo has got to drain a man of the will to live.

Really nice pickup that hopefully helps us throughout to our playoff push. Great play from him on his goal all around, nice to see him bury it all the way upstairs.

Loved watching Pasta basically tackle him to, never gets old

need to look no further than the game vs the Sens to back up your point about the bad games. But, outside of maybe 2-3 guys, the whole team was horrific.

He played well last night though
