agreed, while I definitely liked some things I saw from him, still needs to work on other areas. Now, that said, is he or would he be a better option than either Beleskey or Hayes?

There are people that post on this forum that should likely be ahead of Hayes on the depth chart.

I`ve got a ridiculous snipe coming down on my off wing:yo:

I can`t believe I`m saying this but if I`m forced to choose between Hayes and Beleskey right now, I choose Hayes:amazed:

Not sure. At this juncture, with a team flailing to make the playoffs,I might choose Beleskey for 3rd line duty. No way should Cehlarik be a second line wing at this time for this team,no way! It should be Stafford.

Thought he had a strong game last night. It didn't translate to the stat sheet, but he wasn't woefully out of position and constantly trailing the play like he was in the last few games...

Agreed. He's obviously better suited for that 3rd line RW than he is for 2nd LW, but he's doing what's expected of him

Oh no question. The problem isn't him, it's the lack of depth on the team which forces Stafford into a spot he's not really all that well suited for.

Yes. I had said in another thread to a Jets fan that we have been using him as a middle 6 winger, but in truth, his effective games have come in the bottom 6, which is obviously where he is best suited. As a Jimmy Hayes replacement we've knocked it out of the park. As anything more than that, not so much.

He was actually handling the puck better than I thought he was capable of last game . Not the
Ideal winger for Krejci but certainly better than Beleskey.

Drew Stafford enjoys whirlwind ride

Just more than a month ago, there were doubts about the Bruins’ playoff possibilities.

For Drew Stafford, when he arrived in Boston on March 1 in a trade with the Jets, the playoffs were far from his mind.

“This is why you play,†Stafford said. “I’m grateful and privileged to get the opportunity to come here and play from Winnipeg. Unfortunately, things weren’t going that well there, and to get an opportunity to come here and contribute to this team making the playoffs – it’s been a couple years since they’ve been there, and for me to be a part of that and do what I can to contribute, that’s huge.

“Just to kind of breathe here a little bit and it’s a little relief — but finish strong here and then the real season starts.â€

“This is the type of team, the type of resiliency that we have, we were able to — I don’t know how many [wins] we rattled off. And then huge games against teams that are right behind us, and for us to lay the hammer down and clinch just shows the type of character and pride we have. We have a special group in here so, hopefully, we can keep it going.â€

Yet another timely goal ... apparently that's his thing :yo:

What a fantastic acquisition by DS. I've always really liked this guy but especially given our lack of forward depth, his ability to slide up into a top 6 role and provide timely offense has been incredibly valuable.

Hope we can somehow shed the Beleskey/Hayes nightmares and sign Staff to a 2 or 3 year deal to play 3rd line RW.

With Seneshyn not too far off. I really wouldn't be looking for anyone with longer than a 1yr contract. Already have Backes and Pasta on our top 2 lines. Nash is signed for next year and on 4th line. I like Stafford. But, would try to get him on a 1yr deal.

I think that he could warrant a one-year deal. On the right side next season, the Bruins would have Backes, Pastrnak, Stafford and whoever would become the fourth-line RW. The season after that is when Senyshyn would make his debut in Boston.

Hmm, I understand your concerns but I would counter with two main points. First, Stafford has been playing on the LW for the majority of his time here and has looked good. So I don't think he HAS to play RW necessarily. Second, there's already a vacancy in our top 6 LW slot and both the LW and RW slots on the third line should be up for the taking next year as well. Even with a Senyshyn/Bjork (fingers crossed) knocking at the door, there should be a spot for Stafford.

Also, I think a Stafford-Spoons duo would click really well. Pure playmaker with a sniper who has very good offensive instincts.

Didn't he go 9 games without a point? He's scored a couple big goals but we need more to call it fantastic or worth keeping him around.

For the price it was a good value trade.

Spooner line had 3 lefties, Krejci line had 3 righties.

Clearly it doesn't bother Butch, but I don't like it.

The D has been balanced with Liles in for CMiller. I like that.

nice addition, no need to entertain re-signing him moving forward after this year.

I agree. He's put up some timely goals and hopefully will put up a few more... But I don't want to sign any more old, slow forwards.

Terrific acquisition for sure, it was no risk and we got a hell of a reward.
